Started at 278lbs on my 30th birthday....insert crying.
Fast forward to 155lbs....no more crying and my 33rd birthday is right around the corner.
It seems impossible and then you wake up one morning and realize you’re succeeding and you become determined to never quit.

This thread is amazing. I am currently at 272 (highest ever weight 293). I hope to join you all in posting after/during pics soon!6

You are all amazing and beautiful people. Inspiring and highly motivating. I am working on the project to document what motivated obese individuals to overcome weight loss challenges and keep going. Can you share what was your key motivation, please? Mine was fear.
I don’t qualify for you group because my start point was “only” 261 pounds. I lost 91.
I wanted to live. Not just being alive (that was part of it), but I was missing out on so many things because I physically couldn't do them. Not being able to ride with my daughter at an amusement park because I couldn't fit into the seat was the wake up call and initial kick in the backside
After that, every result I saw and experienced was my motivation to see if I could go just a little bit further.9 -
I was 260+. Now I’m 157

I'm 5'6-7", started at 315, and am currently 205, so 110lbs lost so far.
I'm still working on it, and have 55 more lbs to lose.43 -

I started on 170 kg - 375 pounds but don't have pictures. There was always someone / a tree / an elephant jumping in front of me at the last moment.....12

I am still a work in progress, but I initially lost 70 lbs from my pregnancy high of 330 lbs (5’4”) and maintained that for years before finally getting serious again in July after a holiday gain of ~12 lbs last year. I’m down about 80 lbs now and have dropped about 6 dress sizes total thanks in part to teaching Zumba (I teach 5 classes a week now) for over 3 years and increasing my weight training/Pilates on a more consistent basis.
Ideally I’d like to lose about 100 more lbs, which most ppl who know me can’t believe I need to lose because I’m one of those ppl who does “carry my weight well.” I’m also if the “slow, steady, and sustainable” school of thought. My advice is to change your habits slowly and don’t get overwhelmed. Love yourself healthier and fit rather than trying to hate yourself thin.4 -
Whoops! Posted as separate posts somehow. Blaming it on my phone.20 -

I just want to say all of you are so great and accomplished so much. I am 5'8" and 41 and went from 300lbs to 140's (in maintance, so I just want to stay in the 40's). I am too shy to put my photos up, but I wanted to say I am proud of you all. It is inspiring to everyone!!8

First, I have to start off with the caveat that I fell off the wagon a while ago and no longer look like this. I'm back on MFP so I can look like this again :-P
Before (around 357 lbs)
After (around 195 lbs)

Impressive! May I ask how long it took you and what cal range you stuck to...how much exercise etc?1 -
Um.... I had a tummy-tuck to remove my belly flap, and yes, it was a flap or how I call it a "sad sack of soggy kittens". But, I don't have much other excess skin. What worked for me - time, and losing weight slowly. Most of my excess skin shrank back after about a year of doing a massive recomp after my initial weight loss. Because of the severe weight I gained during pregnancy and the stretched out skin on my stomach, that never shrank back. Time and luck play the biggest role in avoiding excess skin. Also, exercise and staying hydrated probably helped.
For my arms, there's a little excess skin, I'm fixing that by working on my biceps. If I can't keep it from sagging down, I'm gonna build the muscle to lift it back up!7 -
I havent figured out how to join the group so I'm adding av reply at the end. Starting 335lbs on 1/1/17, this mornings weight [9/22/18] is 226lbs. Slow but sure6
