Why are tasty and healthy mutually exclusive?

It's not fair I want cake and pizza to be as healthy as cauliflower

A moment on the lips, forever on the hips.

Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.

Eat to live not live to eat.

Put pepperoni and pizza sauce on cauliflower.

Frost a whole head of cauliflower and cover in sprinkles.

    Problem solved.

Hey I'm right there with you...I wish margaritas were calorie free! But I don't think the topic title is accurate. I eat plenty of tasty things throughout the day that are also quite healthy.

Take cauliflower, beer batter it, deep fry it, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Then take the breading off, eat it, and throw away the cauliflower.

I think healthy foods can definitely be tasty, depending on how they're prepared! And no, I'm not suggesting you make a cake out of cauliflower.

Just looking at fruits or vegetables makes me sick

The only reason you think that is because people have beat the idea of "healthy" versus "unhealthy" foods into your head.

The two are not mutually exclusive. There is no such thing as inherently healthy or unhealthy food. Even cinnamon rolls covered in ice cream and frosting can be perfectly healthy.

It's your overall diet that's healthy or unhealthy. It's healthy if it contains an appropriate number of calories and nutrients.

I was listening to NPR recently and heard an interesting discussion. Back in the good old days, we required a sh*tload of calories in order to keep us running aware from predators, warm in the cold, etc. Humans adapted to be naturally attracted to calorically dense foods - like things that are sweet. Now that we've all become lazy jack-a*ses who produce things like Oreos for mass consumption, this is working against us.

Evolution hasn't quite caught up yet. Maybe in the future we will all crave quinoa, who knows.

    /not a scientist.

Not always. Cooked cauliflower tastes so good actually. But restaurant food tastes soo good but I can't have any of it because those calorie laden meals use up all my cals for the day.

Adini your pic and what you are writing is very motivating.

Sir I hated fruits and veggies all my life. This summer I had a breakthrough with fruits, I can't get enough of them esp apples.

This is a popular opinion on MFP. I have to disagree with you. Twinkies are not healthy. When eaten in moderation with a healthy diet, you can still be a pretty healthy person in general though.

Mcdonalds 5 days in a row does not sound like moderation
  • Sometimes I really think I am the only one that loves veggies. But oh how I wish wine was calorie free!

Pizza can be healthier than cauliflower, since pizza can contain carbs, fat, protein, fiber and a lot of macro-nutrients and still be really tasty if you prepare it correctly.

I'm not knocking cauliflower. I love me some roasted cauliflower. Just saying there are other healthy foods.

when you stay under your calorie goal for each one of those days, how is it not moderation?

Your last sentence is pretty much exactly what he said, but you disagree with him?

It is calorie moderation, but it's not fast food moderation.
