Name: It's ME!
Age: About a year older than I was last year. (middle aged)
Height: Just short of 5' 7"
HEAVIEST weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Total Weight lost: 31 pounds total; 24 pounds since January 2018; then gained a bit
Time it took to lose: About six months (assuming start date January 2018)
How long in maintenance: Two months, then backsliding; But BACK ON TRACK!

Average weight recorded from 2017 (12months): 163.8
RECENT weight about 170 during most of 2017
ACTUAL weight recorded from January 2, 2018 (only weigh-in that month): 168.2

Average weight recorded from May: 151.6

September 16-22: 149.5
September 23-29: 148.1
September 30:
September average: 148.9 (as of September 29)
Success of the week:
My scale weight dropped back in to my maintenance range four out of the last five days. Not by much, though. My scale has 0.2 pound accuracy. My scale weight was 147.8 the last three days, and it was lower one day this week.
Struggle of the week:
I'm STILL recovering from a shoulder injury, so I'm STILL not able to bike commute. My September average weight will be about a pound over my maintenance range. That's fine. I'm still exploring what my maintenance range ought to be, and it may be changing up or down soon, or maybe just expanding to more than a seven pound range.

Success: had been working for months and particularly throughout the summer on co-organizing an event last weekend. It went really well. Also started up some work thing also went well.
I decided to go out for a bite yesterday evening last minute with a friend. We went out for savoury and sweet crepes, at a basic local place. The usual fare is one of each and 25 cl of hard cider. I pre-tracked it on MFP and saw I'd go over weight-loss guidelines for the day. But I said to myself, it's Saturday evening and it's nice to enjoy things in life. I have worked really hard all through September for a work success, last week, and hardly any social life outside of working. I think that is one change in me. At some points in the past I would have skipped desert, concerned more about weight loss than enjoying the relatively rare meal out. At present, I like to enjoy the good things in life. (I work a lot). The savoury crepe was gouda cheese, asparagus and avocado and the sweet crepe was a lighter one with fresh raspberries, honey and lemon. I was quite full but then when I got home I still ate a banana and a few crackers, not needed at all. What's that about! That's what annoys me. I think I felt medium about the evening out, which was not incredible but was fine, though I was really tired, and felt a need to compensate. I always seem to feel a need to compensate these days.
I find the nitty gritty sentence on the bottom of MFP page, "if you eat like this for 5 weeks you will weigh x." a nice eye-opener.
As you can see, in September, I haven't been focusing much on weight loss at all. I didn't weigh in much, and did not track much at all. It's hard at present.
I have good intentions and then do something silly like eat crackers after I've had a nice filling and tasty meal. I tend to get so busy and let exercise slide too. That is not the way to take care of oneself.
The plan today is to tidy a little, have breakfast and go for a walk to and around the park and back (about an hour). Go for coffee somewhere. Maybe grocery shopping and need to get a new phone. Have to work late today at least to prepare for tomorrow.
Will aim to prep some healthy food for tomorrow. I have a long work day moving around. Need to bring lunch but also a solid snack, since I leave at around 7:30am and get home at around 8:pm...needs to be filling and healthy and refreshing and easy to travel with all day in a day pack, but not too calorific...and to avoid eating more calories than needed in the evening. Need to remember to bring container for water. At one place they have water offered but no cups, for ecological reasons.
I'm irked to have trouble with this! I've had many years maintaining more or less, relatively naturally.
I'm trying to maintain perspective though. There are worse fates in life. Wish me luck, awareness, and courage!
Good luck, awareness and courage to you all.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week:
I am still really struggling with figuring out how to maintain. I am fantastic at losing weight, not so much at keeping it off. This led to somewhat of a stress binge last Sunday, during which I consumed about two days’ worth of calories. I went to see a dietician this week to get some advice and she assured me if I stick with MFP the way I have been to lose weight, I will he just fine. I do say eating more (about 1800 with activity) to maintain has made me feel better and perform better at the gym, which has been welcome from the fatigue I was starting to feel at a deficit. I will begin weighing in weekly now instead of monthly to hopefully gain a better appreciation for fluctuations and not have it be the end of the world when they happen. As long as I stick to plan I know I’ll be okay.6 -
Lisa I so unfortunately understand your feelings so well. Sometimes I just want to eat what I want to eat without thinking about calories that I'm consuming. This past week I made a plan wrote everything down I would do or not do NO SNACKING was at the top of the list for each day I crossed off as I accomplished the goal.
I made it through the week and have enough calories saved to enjoy the wedding I will be attending today.

I think this is very healthy. Maintaining weight and fitness requires moderation for sure. It's good for the psyche to moderate that moderation every now and then. Life should be worth living. Live it up!bananasandoranges wrote: »then when I got home I still ate a banana and a few crackers, not needed at all. What's that about! That's what annoys me. Cut yourself some slack. I sometimes go off the rails after a pint or two. It's not dessert for me. I dig into a can of sardines or make popcorn. But it's ok! I'm just sorry you only felt medium about the evening out. The crepes sound really good!bananasandoranges wrote: »I'm irked to have trouble with this! Let it go. You are far from alone with this struggle. It's just a little spur off of the trail you're walking. You'll still get where you're going, and it's good to stop and enjoy the path. Smell the roses as they say. Or look at the colors of the leaves. Or have some crepes! Good luck, keep aware, and be brave!

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week/month: same old battles, trying to keep nightly snacking at bay ( not too successfully) and balance that out with big bike rides. Overall, it's all good, although there are days when all i want to do is eat. On the other hand, if I'm really busy i can go for hours not thinking about it and not even realizing how long it's been since I've eaten. Boredom is my worst enemy. I love food, it's often hard to stop when it's good. Also i look for high calorie snacks after dinner (which is usually high volume, relatively low cal). Almost two years into maintenance, i know by now what to do and how to do it.5 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Still a little on the low end. But I am maintaining. I was feeling a little frustrated about being under my range, but I have decided that it is ok. I realized that I feel really good about my weight, my activity level, the amount I eat and how I look. I think I am letting concerns about what others think about my weight stress me out. I am not under weight or even close to being under weight. I am simply thinner than I used to be.12 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Weight and trend below goal range. Fell off the wagon logging correctly, obviously not to my detriment too much. Weight seems to have leveled off around the 120-121 range (after dipping through the week as low as 119). I think I may just adjust my goal for October, I'm satisfied with my calorie range. I often have to add calories to hit my calorie goal. There were many days I had to eat two servings of ice cream at night to hit my goals for the day, which is probably why my weight has finally settled and stopped dropping (meeting my calorie goals). On to October!7 -
