Lisa I so unfortunately understand your feelings so well. Sometimes I just want to eat what I want to eat without thinking about calories that I'm consuming. This past week I made a plan wrote everything down I would do or not do NO SNACKING was at the top of the list for each day I crossed off as I accomplished the goal.
I made it through the week and have enough calories saved to enjoy the wedding I will be attending today.

I decided to go out for a bite yesterday evening last minute with a friend. We went out for savoury and sweet crepes, at a basic local place. The usual fare is one of each and 25 cl of hard cider. I pre-tracked it on MFP and saw I'd go over weight-loss guidelines for the day. But I said to myself, it's Saturday evening and it's nice to enjoy things in life. I have worked really hard all through September for a work success, last week, and hardly any social life outside of working. I think that is one change in me. At some points in the past I would have skipped desert, concerned more about weight loss than enjoying the relatively rare meal out. At present, I like to enjoy the good things in life. (I work a lot).

I think this is very healthy. Maintaining weight and fitness requires moderation for sure. It's good for the psyche to moderate that moderation every now and then. Life should be worth living. Live it up!
then when I got home I still ate a banana and a few crackers, not needed at all. What's that about! That's what annoys me. I think I felt medium about the evening out, which was not incredible but was fine, though I was really tired, and felt a need to compensate. I always seem to feel a need to compensate these days.

Cut yourself some slack. I sometimes go off the rails after a pint or two. It's not dessert for me. I dig into a can of sardines or make popcorn. But it's ok! I'm just sorry you only felt medium about the evening out. The crepes sound really good!
I'm irked to have trouble with this! I've had many years maintaining more or less, relatively naturally.
I'm trying to maintain perspective though. There are worse fates in life. Wish me luck, awareness, and courage!

Let it go. You are far from alone with this struggle. It's just a little spur off of the trail you're walking. You'll still get where you're going, and it's good to stop and enjoy the path. Smell the roses as they say. Or look at the colors of the leaves. Or have some crepes! Good luck, keep aware, and be brave!

https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/usercard/1000555630 for your great advice, I think I would have pulled a Uey as soon as I walked in there without that session booked! Trainer is great and I think I’ll be able to do everything myself once we are done.

Way out of the comfort zone and not something I ever thought I’d see myself doing but feeling really good about the whole thing!
