Hey, what you doing up?
I'm west coast time now, two hours later than I used to be.
What time is it ?

How ya liking Nevada?
It's amazing. I'm in southeast Reno, NV. My wife and I hike nearly every weekend in the mountains and around Lake Tahoe, I get full 180* views of the Sierra Nevada mountains off my back deck. Low humidity, no bugs, fantastic night skies/stars. It's the best place in the US (I've seen a lot of it to compare), but the secret is out and quickly being overrun by Californians fleeing the bay area. The rest of the state aside from Las Vegas is a gigantic, largely untouched wilderness - though much of it high desert mountains, which most people don't love, but I adore. I get incredible winter play areas half an hour from home, but largely stay dry and warm - all hail the power of micro climates. I'm used to gray/cold/wet from Oklahoma winters. It's 50* and sunny here most days, with multiple feet of snow a short drive away. Temps in the summer top out at 95* fahrenheit, again with low humidity - so hot, but not gross.
The one true downside is the cost of housing. My house has gone up 250K since we bought it in May. Literally my same home floor plan one city block over, maybe 200 ft from my front door. Californians are bringing their housing crisis, and coupled with low interest rates, real estate is doing nothing but going up. Many people can't afford to stay here if they rent or aren't high wage earners. I really worry about the future of the area for that reason.
Real estate across the US is going crazy, the pandemic, the low interest rates and people looking for solid, low risk investments are turning to it.
Edit: almost forgot to mention the gigantic trees! I love them. Huge Scotch pines, redwoods, etc. So good.
It sounds absolutely amazing. I looked up the Sierra Nevada mountains.. wow, lucky you ..what a view.
Lookout for those mountain lions though eh.
More likely black bears, but have yet to see either. Should eventually, especially when we get into deeper areas for backcountry skiing.
The views are bonkers. I put a sunset picture into the photography thread. It's like 8% as awesome as it was live, but it's something. It's also a panoramic, so it squashes the scale of the mountains badly. They are HUGE from where I live. If you see the city, that's 4500 feet elevation, and the mountains directly above are 10K ft and only half an hour away by car. They're simply enormous, and take up much of the view.
I feel incredibly lucky to be here. It's been many years of career growth and hard work, but I'm hoping we can work it out to retire here in maybe another decade or so. I just want to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and walk in the woods with her and watch her be happy awhile she hugs trees and talks to pinecones. She brings along animal finger puppets and takes pictures of them, and living someplace beautiful for her after decades of hurt just makes me happy. I really don't need much, though I'm fortunate to have a lot. I think I want to give it all away and have my ashes left here when I pass, hopefully when I'm about 103 years old and have walked most of the place.
Certainly looks like you've found your heaven on earth and your angel to share it with. Being able to make that someone special happy makes life that much sweeter. Live the dream Leut... hope it doesn't take 10 years though, you'll be like a hundred then 😂.
It does all sound amazing, even the pb and jelly sandwiches and animal finger puppets 😄
Im gunna search for the photography thread..0 -

Right? I'm aging out quick, yeesh.
I thought I had my dad's youth on my side. Then one day he stopped using grecian formula and turned into a grandpa overnight. That was a rather rude awakening. :ohwell:1 -

When they tell me the relationship is “our little secret” and then ignore me from then on out. I give you 2 years deadline on that sort of bs behavior.0
