Well seeing as the OP has only been a member since June 2013 (so two months at most) and already has almost 1,000 forum posts, maybe the solution would be to turn off the damn computer and take a walk!
HAHA!! Was wondering if anyone else noticed there's a troll among us.0 -
Is that frosting leaking out under the kit kats???0 -
Making me hungry for ice cream.......0 -
Is this how the community really supports each other?
Joined yesterday, this is my 4th post and so far i got this one reply in my inbox.
Good luck on your journey everyone but I'm not in a place to deal with this kind of behavior. I wonder how many others like me could have really used this site to help themselves. The counters were cool but since I log in every time I eat I'm going to look at the forums and this isn't any good. Dealing with this is okay on other forums but I was hoping for support here and was skeptical and now i see i was right.

Hey meadowbreeze,
I saw your response to one of the other MFP people looking for new friends. I am writing about your comment, about going it alone and avoiding the forums. I agree with avoiding the forums but you can add friends and see what they post every day. It shows up on your "home" page and is a little like Facebook.
Having friends is totally separate from the forums and really helpful to maintain progress and exchange ideas. There are a lot of really normal, regular folks on MFP but most of the forum lurkers are simply rude and obnoxious. So, I just wanted to encourage you to not seek friends on here. Best of luck with your journey,
Gotta say, if you joined yesterday and have already lost 100 pounds as your ticker claims, that's probably a record.
Also, don't post PMs in the forums. Someone will tattle.
Edit: Oops. Never mind. Deactivated already. Clearly, all you jerks drove her to it!! Shame on you!!!!0 -
OMFG I think I just gained all of the weight I have lost, by working my *kitten* off, because I looked at the food porn!0

That averages out to 16 posts a day.
Thanks for judging me though0 -
Although I understand where everyone posting food is coming from, you might want to rethink it. I am a compulsive overeater. When I see food, I literally CANNOT NOT eat it. When I see pictures of food, all I can think about is when I can eat next.
Maybe he is too. Maybe they're trying to do what's best for them, and it's perfectly okay to look for support one specifically needs, ON A SUPPORT WEBSITE.
this is a crazy rude website sometimes smh.
I am a compulsive overeater myself. I just started reading Overcoming Overeating in hopes that it will bring me some success.
OP you can add me. My diary is open. I don't always do very well I will be honest with you, but I NEVER post pictures of food or even makes status's about it. I understand how you feel.
And to everyone viciously posting pictures of food....that's messed up and definitely not supportive.0 -
is this real life?
Is this just fantasy?
No escape from reality.
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Anyway the wind blows.
To me...
i didn't want to have to wait around for it, and take the chance that i will miss it... or the thread will lock. please forgive me
Considering.... What do you offer for penance?
Also who's gonna come in with "Mama.. Just killed a man..."?0 -

Pushover. How much of a Chicago fan can she be if she didn't comment on the Maxwell St. or the Portillos food? It's got to be a ploy.0 -

Yeah. deactiviating over a troll post. I really didn't get what she was getting at either.0 -

^^^ doesn't get it0 -
YOUR friends don't put the food in YOUR mouth.
My best friend does. He's my husband. He lovingly reaches over the table at dinner a forkful of whatever yum is so insanely delicious I HAVE to try. I trust him for judging what is "cheatworthy" and so far have not been let down.0 -
Oh my God... you guys are sooo bad! And Karmel Sutra is my Favorite!
Cherry Garcia. ...next!0 -
Um, I really don't know what to say. OP, if you are serious then there are some issues you need to personally address, and see a shrink over or go to an OEA meeting.
Pictures of food ... they're just another form of an excuse to eat bad foods.
I'm sorry that you have struggles though, but since my diet is anything but 'clean' I don't think friendship is best (guess that's why in 2 months I've only lost 16 and not 20 lol...)0 -
I'm hungry now. I thought I was okay till the cheesecake pic.

I am not trying to be condescending when I say this...
You have to take accountability for what you eat and how much you exercise. It doesn't matter if your friends post pictures of food. If you want something that is shown in the picture, find a healthier version of it to help maintain your caloric intake or work it off. Social support to lose weight is essentially yet another crutch I see many people using here on MFP. When the social network fails or life gets in the way, these individuals relying on the social network are just going to fall back into their old routine. Asking for diet suggestions can be done on the forums and if they wish to see your diary, you can make it publicly available without adding any friends. Try to support yourself and not entice the drama of MFP support friends.
Good luck.
The FORUMS are where all the drama is!! OP is obviously into the drama or he wouldn't have announced he was deleting people for positing food pix!
I don't post food pix but that doesn't make me supportive. Others that post food pix may also be the first to encourage him to go to the gym on a slump day. They can be supportive and also post whatever they like on their own pages!
IMO, OP should have quietly deleted friends and found new ones without announcing it to the world!0 -
Did you try stuffing pizza down your pants when you were lusting over the food porn?
Oh wait, I think I saw that in a movie.... never mind. Dodgeball a true underdog story.0 -
Almost all People who are overweight are that way because of the choices that they have made (and believe me... I know)... even if they are genetically prone to a larger size. It may be challenging for a person as such to lose the weight, but they will always be overweight until they make that determined choice to lose it... and become committed to that choice.
Being committed to that choice means one must be willing to pay the price! What is the price? It is different for different people. But the price might be changing your friends... I know that I learned early on that you will become like who you hang around. Therefore, if you hang around overweight people, you will easily become desensitized to that larger size and begin to pick up on their eating habits... simply put, behave like an overweight person, or do what an overweight person does... and you will become overweight. The same is true with being healthy, or wealthy... do what they do... and you will eventually have what they have.
Of course, part of the price will be changing your eating and exercise habits. You WILL have to say to "NO" to certain foods... but, another thing you will have to do WITHOUT A DOUBT.... you will have to remove every excuse as to why you cannot accomplish your goal. Any excuse will tear away at the success of your desire. That means.... no one is to blame for what YOU allow... just the same as you cannot blame me for your poverty.... you cannot blame me for you being overweight. It just simply becomes an excuse that will rob you of your success.
So, how determined are you...? It will show in your actions. The intensity of desire is measured by the intensity of consistent activity.
I wish you the best.
