Yeah I can be in the truck and be overheated from the heater, but fingers are still cold so that I am taking turns driving with one hand and sitting on the other (go go gadget automatic transmission).
I have not heard about wristies? I usually stick a handwarmer in my glove. I have never found a glove (or mitten) warm enough, but might get one of these gloves that have warmer pockets: https://amzn.to/2SeZX2V

When I was in college my doctor said I probably have Raynaud's. I still have issues but I don't get as red/painful since going off the gluten. Like right now, my fingers are cold and it's 70 degrees in the house.0

5.09 km Sunday with Jeremy pushing Baby Beckett in his stroller. -12C and Foggy reduced visibility so we stayed on low traffic roads rather than the prime route which would have more traffic.
I struggled through this run with tired legs, a combination of Adult Swim club, Curling Friday night, Saturday Misery Mtn Ski Hill loop. Also haven't been getting in the runs that I should so a bit of an unplanned cut-back.
@skippygirlsmom Wow what a horrible experience for skip. Sending virtual hugs for both of you. She is young and strong so will survive this bad experience - especially with all the support from you. Hope she is able to transfer to another college and continue her studies. Considering how bad her communal dorm experience was I would suggest private off campus accommodation where she would have more control and security, and MaMa would have less concerns about bad influences.4 -

yes i do. the white one is my foster. i'm getting shihtzu next week.
so the turkey trot.
we had 2100ish people finish the race. i posted a few photos last week. i could see the front of the pack runners start a quarter mile ahead of me when i crossed the starting mat. it was bitterly cold. the temperature wasn't horrible but the wind was coming off lake michigan.
there were strollers and dogs even though it was technically not allowed. lots of walkers lined up even in the timed corrals.
but i love the atmosphere. everyone is excited. this is one that is a lot of first 5ks for people. ditto for the 8k. i'm not going to be setting any records but it's still a fun run. i woke up with dead legs so i knew it wasn't going to be a great time anyways. nothing in particular happened. just a lot of people who don't normally race, running, walking, both. my friends did their 8k. one was a big baby because his i-whatever died and he couldn't listen to music and his arms were cold. the other one sucked it up. i could see he was uncomfortable but he did well. i think (i don't know) he started out too fast and ended up 10 min slower than he did earlier that week. the cold adverse friend finished when he expected.i didn't see these guys but they look warm
i don't know how he stayed upright with the wind(he still beat me)

i have been doing the rw streak. sometime i don't bother with timing the mile but i'm doing a mile every day.
i am no where near my goal so w/e i'll try again next month. i'll put miles on my calendar and go from there.
overall, my time is improving. when i started running, i started with 13min miles and now a few years later, i'm chasing a 10 min mile-without dog assistance.
we were supposed to have a blizzard but the front shifted and we ended up with an inch that froze. i ran while it fell. did not do my mile yet today. probably end up inside because people do not always take care of their snow and ice.last nights
speed demon passed. i let her out before and she was unimpressed with the snow

Raynauds is quite distinct - the tips of your fingers will go white. It's not so much them feeling cold (which obviously they do) but it's the loss of blood flow to the fingers that marks it out.
It's similar to Vibration White Finger, which is a hazard of the construction industry0 -

I hadn't heard the term "wristies" before, I think I know them as "pulse warmers". Like wrist sweatbands but made of fleece or knit from wool. I don't have Raynaud's, but I find they help some when you are in a cold place but can't wear gloves.

No idea if they change color like that. I normally have them balled up inside mitten/glove and am not studying them. Regardless if they do or not they get painfully cold very very quickly. Those handwarmers (the kind you shake and they generate heat for like 10 hours) are the only help. Nothing else works. Same with the toes. Wool socks get me a few more degrees, but not much.0 -

Haha! Love it! I have it also.They definitely look dead! My pinky and a big toe are the worst. I usually have to hot water my feet. I'm lucky enough that i have a heated steering wheel .0 -

I have a 5K to run tonight the Galaxy of Lights. It’s s run at the Botanical Gardens through the Christmas displays. I talked some of my girlie friends into going and now I have zero desire to go. Skip is the 4 time defending champ in her AG but she wasn’t supposed to be here so I didn’t sign her up and it’s sold out. One of the girls in her AG says yeah now I have a chance ha ha too funny.12 -

Yes, I have it. Both hands and toes. They turn dead white and stay that way for about an hour after I get inside. It is very painful. Have gone though many pair of gloves trying to find some that will prevent it. Haven't found any yet.0 -
@skippygirlsmom - I know where you are!!! I LOVE YOUR TOWN!!! My husband worked there for many months on a telecom project. He had an apartment near the university and I would run from there to the private university. Our last visit (September) we stayed in downtown and I ran the streets in Old Town. OMG the houses there are BEAUTIFUL! I hope I was vague enough not to give away your location :-)

Yes, mine get more than cold. But that's usually how it starts. And it's more than just cold. I don't have a word to really describe how they feel.0 -

Maybe? I dunno that I noticed them go white/blue, but definitely red and definitely tingle/etc. It is pretty sudden too. I mean at 50F degrees I am fine no issues at all. At 45F it is too painful to continue.
But that Mayo clinic page pretty much says nothing can be done. So guess does not matter that much.
That was during my HM on Sunday after they'd warmed up.
Before that, they were multicoloured white, blue, purple.

Might be some other horrible issue, I dunno. All I know is that it sucks and it puts a way higher limit on my cold weather running than if I did not have it. 50F is about as cold as I can run without hand warmers. Hand/toe warmers only work to so cold. Probably not much below 20F.
I will check for colors, but I know it is very painful, and tingly when trying to rewarm up in water. It could simply be a side effect of my heart condition too but I have been told my circulation is fine.0 -

Caught sinus infection before it could move to lungs courtesy of CPAP and will be finishing up 14 days on ABX in a few days. Doc says okay to do light running, I asked him to define light running, he said no getting out of breath. hmmph. Will be lifting 3 days and running 3 days. Definitely not gonna make goal this month, meh.
Congrats to all who have had races the last 2 weeks, and well done to all who have run at all(kinda jealous...okay extremely jealous). Back to work now though.10 -
Today I got to run 3.53 miles around the cemetery three blocks from my house. I love living near a cemetery! It was pretty cold again (19 wind chill 6 according to the computer, but it was sunny and very little wind while I was out), but I feel like I’m starting to figure out this winter running thing. And what I’m figuring is that it’s going to be a struggle more often than not, and sometimes my clothing choices will work and sometimes they won’t, but I will always feel like a bad-*kitten* running in winter in Minnesota. Also, if I’m not sure about an outfit, taking the dog for a quick walk first is a good way to tell if I need to swap something out. And I could really use some better base and mid-layers, but I can make sure with what I’ve got for now.
Not even close to my goal for the month but I am totally fine with that. I haven’t even planned my runs for the next week yet - I’m just going to see how I feel each day. Wild! I'm working from our brand new attic home office and it's really sweet. I never liked to work in the office at the old house because it was very dark and stuffy (the litter box didn't help) but that's not an issue here!
Coworkers all up in my business. The towel is a temporary dog bed but he's hiding from the cats right now.

@pastorvince sounds exactly like what mine do. I don't get blue or white but really red. I used to try to help in the frozen/dairy dept at the grocery store I worked at but it would be so painful, even in summer. My doctor said it was raynauds. 🤷🏼♀️1

Was out of town for meetings, and ran at least 5k each day. Friday no one told me a group was going running... Saturday they slept in... and Sunday I went along even though the pace was set by 2 guys who I could tell were competing with each other. It was fast for me, but I knew it was right around my 5k race pace, so I just went with it and got my fastest 5k time since before I got injured. Didn't cancel out the extra calories I took in during the conference, but it's ok. My lifestyle day-to-day is what matters.
I biked today, and it was cold, foggy and wet. Warm shower felt great afterwards!

@mbaker566 Your race was part of the same group as mine, we got the same kind of shirt! Also you can compare your time against everyone who ran any of the races in different towns, it's nifty.
I wish I had a running picture half as good as yours, my official one from my half marathon makes me look like an obese zombie. And I saw the photographer and was trying to run tall and smile! No official photo from the Turkey Trot, a lady was right on top of me the whole way down the stretch. I just have really bad luck with race photos.
@skippygirlsmom hope you have fun at your night race! I'm glad you mentioned it because it made me double check for the fun run through the Christmas lights which we ran last year, and which I couldn't find this year, so I thought it had been cancelled. Turns out they changed the name. Last year it was Starry Nights 4k, this year it's Buffaglo 5k. BUFFAGLO???? because there are buffalo at the park and we run past them. Anyway, I had given up on running it before your post prompted me to look again.

5 miles at Shelby Farms, pretty good run despite it being cruelly cold and windy. I might be able to handle the cold if I could get used to it, but last time I ran was over 60 degrees and today was 27! I wore my decathlon windbreaker over a lightweight running jacket over a long sleeved shirt and my top was fine. My legs were problematic, since my long tights from last year are so loose they won't stay up. So summer capris and long wool socks. My legs were pretty chilled before I got going.
My splits make it look like I was doing some sort of fancy tempo run on purpose - started out at half marathon pace, then increased 30 seconds per split with the final mile at 5k race pace - but it wasn't on purpose, it was just being too miserable to run fast then gradually warming up and relaxing. Also, heading out we were running into a 20 mph wind, and coming back it was at our backs.4 -

I too have Raynauds Syndrome and will often finish a run in winter with white fingers and/or toes - always looks odd because frequently only a few digits are affected. Takes forever for them to return to normal (one of a number of sound reasons I'm a fan of a long hot shower). The only cure is to move somewhere warmer!!2

I live in a desert and it still affects me LOL Not as bad as Wisconsin though. (I first typed I live in a dessert.. I wish!)5 -
Low 50s and a little windy today. I wish I had covered my ears! The temp was ok, but the wind made my ears hurt. I can handle a fairly cool temp for the rest of my body, but if my ears are cold I am miserable. Next time. Also, I was lazy with stretching after my last run because I didn’t have my foam roller and my family was waiting to go to dinner, so I barely stretched. Paid for that today! After just a few miles, I could feel the tightness settling in my quads and calves. Good stretch and some rolling tonight and hopefully my legs will forgive me for next time.

If it weren't for my asthma acting up, this would have been a very nice run. Felt like I was really relaxed after the first mile. First run in new Brooks Ghost 11 shoes. Had to check a couple times to make sure they were still on my feet because they felt like I wasn't wearing anything 😁

More of the same - treadmill run and strength training. I will be getting back to speedwork soon, probably next week unless I can fit it in later this week. In the meantime I did a little faster interval during this treadmill run today. Which reminded me why I should get back to speedwork.
