When did you lose the belly fat?

Your fat distribution patterns are part of your genetics, and that can't be altered by any food, supplement or exercise.
This. My mom was once asked when she was due.. She wasn't pregnant.
Unfortunately, I carry my weight when heavier much the same way.
I've lost a little over 45 lbs and the big belly was the last to go. Also, once I lost the weight it took a bit (in maintenance) for the skin to tighten up and not look saggy.
I definitely understand your frustration! Keep at it, OP!5 -
Measuring your body fat may be a better indicator to when you can expect to see a flat stomach vs weight loss.
"To reveal abdominal definition, and possibly a six-pack, most men need to achieve a body fat percentage of six to nine percent; women need to reach 16 to 19 percent body fat." From a Livestrong site.
I've seen for a flat stomach, 17% for men and 22% or so for women or thereabouts. Use these as a rough estimate.
Personally, I've had a nice flat stomach with a little bit of definition at 18%. Was ecstatic about it. Oh well...have a ways to go to see that again.5 -
Have you taken measurements? I would feel quite certain that your belkybis smaller after losing 33 lbs and 2 sizes. It might not be your ideal, but it will be better than before. Keep it going!
Yep, I take measurements and I am shrinking, but it's overall shrink instead of the belly disappearing... if that makes sense.
That's fairly typical. You don't get to choose what shrinks or in which order. It's frustrating but true.
Everyone has a stubborn spot that just seems to want to stick around until the bitter end. Just keep losing and working on your body composition (lift weights).2 -
I lost the most from areas as in the order shown in the list below:
1. face
2. chest
3. legs
4. arms
5. stomach
6. hips
Everyone is different but that is the way mine went. Once I hit maintenance it seemd like it sort of evened out for a few months. My face no longer looks gaunt and some of the skin has tightened up a bit. I had a tummy tuck for my abdomen because I had 2 babies that were over 9 pounds each and that was never gonna bounce back, lol.

For those that started with a BIG bloated stomach, how long did it take before you noticed a difference in your stomach? How much weight did you lose before you saw a difference?
Just feeling a bit frustrated.
Super happy with my progress so far (33lbs down) and still super motivated to reach my goals, however long it takes. Just frustrated like hell that my belly fat does not seem to be budging. I've gone down 2 sizes so I am shrinking, but my belly is still HUGE. I still look like I'm 7m pregnant.
I've even been taking progress photos and there is barely any difference between my first one and the one I took yesterday (no I won't post them. Not ready to share all of that).
I know it will eventually start to disappear, but damn. I wish it would happen NOW instead of last
@LiLee2018 For me - it’s been the last to go! Like a bad tenant that won’t move out ! Lol
So I went from a size 12 to now I am a 6/8 depending on the clothing. It’s been a 40lb weight difference. Only when i got to the end of my weight loss did my stomach start to flatten out. Grr. I still have a few inches on my waist- but I also have a few lbs off Fat to lose. Been dieting, cardio and weights til that tenant moves out! slowly - it’s progressing. Good luck! You can do it!5 -

keto has nothing to do with belly fat,no way of eating does, you cannot spot reduce fat. fat comes off where it wants when it wants in a deficit. usually the first place you gain is the last place you lose.
While I agree that no specific routine "spot reduces fat", I would offer some defense to DawnTSwink that I have noticed that when I have done more 'keto like' macro eating days in succession (lower carbs, but more specifically no processed "chips"/crackers/deserts, etc.) that I don't feel bloated in my mid-section and as such my abdominal area feels so much better and also seems to look flatter (especially upon first waking up).

Great thread! I’ve lost 51 lbs with another 9 to go. My belly is just now starting to appear visibly smaller.2

you may be less bloated which means less water. it has NOTHING to do with fat loss. so of course if you bloat less your stomach can look flatter. has nothing to do with the keto per se. someone could probably cut down on bloating by cutting out certain foods that cause them to bloat.4 -
I'm struggling to tell the difference between loose skin and residual belly fat. All a bit porridgy in the mid section 🤣3

Congratulations on losing 33 lbs. For me it was the last on, first off, but I think that's just due to luck. One thing's for sure: if you keep losing like that, eventually it's just got to vanish!1 -

not always, some people who lose weight too fast end up with losing lean mass a lot of times and they end up with the skinny fat look which means more lean mass than fat was lost,so they can be at a lower weight ,maybe even underweight and still have a good bit of fat in places, which is why its recommended to lift heavy and get enough protein to combat those things and to lose weight at a reasonable rate,so you can prevent the skinny fat look.2 -
I'm at 5ft4 and started at 173lb. I know that my stomach has gotten smaller progressively from the start, but I'm just now noticing "hey, my stomach looks really different" at 152lb. I hold my weight mostly in my legs and butt, though. Pear shape here.3

I started noticing my body changing after following a 30 day DVD program with lifting weights and doing cardio. And the belly immediately came back after I stopped lifting early in the summer. So my recommendation will always be, get lifting!2

My stomach was the slowest part of my body to get rid of the fat. After my previous 76 pounds weight loss, I considered surgery for that area. However, I attended an orientation and the surgeon’s nurse stated the dr would not recommend the surgery for someone who has a history of keloiding. I decided not to chance it. Keep doing what you are doing and you will see some improvement eventually.3

Cardio, cardio, cardio.... it’s the only way and seems to take FOREVER... Stick with it and eventually it will shrink.4

I only have a completely flat stomach at a super low BF %. It was the last to go unfortunately.0

Well, this is beat to death, but I'll add my 2 cents. Your body has 2 types of fat, subcutaneous fat and visceral fat. Sub-Q covers the muscles, Visceral fat surrounds the intra-abdominal and pelvic organs. Visceral fat is pretty much always the first and last to go. I say first, because if you are morbidly obese, your body will start to put fat places like your liver, but that's not good, and is reversible. Anyway, Visceral fat can cause that round stomach, even in a lean body. I think some people might call this skinny fat. To answer your question, my abs make an appearance at around 14% body fat. At 11%, most of the sub-q is gone.0

you are male so you can get down to lower percentages of body fat where women have to be careful with that1 -
Just wanted to add that sometimes a disproportionately large stomach can be a sign of a medical problem. In my case I had an ovarian tumor which was causing Cushing's syndrome, which means my body was cranking out hormones which cause weight gain around the middle. PCOS and metabolic syndrome can also cause central weight gain. Having the tumor removed allowed my hormones to return to normal and after several months my waist started looking normal too.
Many healthy people do lose weight in the stomach last, but if your stomach is so large compared to the rest of you that you look pregnant, don't just let the doctor shrug and say, "Oh, you're obese." Ask questions and make sure there is not a medical issue. In particular if you have bright red stretch marks on your stomach, ask about Cushing's.14 -
I was mistaking my belly fat for my fatty liver syndrome. Talk to your doctor. I am now losing my belly fat and on occasion my stomach is flat despite being 236 lbs.1

Took ages and ages but I did!1

not always, some people who lose weight too fast ... quote.
If your overweight, you should be trying to lose it as fast as you can. The myth it's not healthy to lose weight quickly was born from the pharamaceutical system that wants to keep you fat and sick.
Fat in our bodies is nothing but toxicity, and acid our body has stored from an over acidic diet.
Since I started listening to Dan the Life regenerator and switched to a raw diet (right now its just fruit) I have lost over 10kg in a month, my candida rash is gone (I couldn't get rid of it for 10 plus years), my fibroid in my uterus
also no longer hurts, and the cyst under my left arm is getting smaller.
I still have about 25kg to go before I'll be at a healthy weight, but all this struggling I went through losing a kilo to gain 3 back every week just drove me to find a sane answer, and this new raw lifestyle is slaying my weight off effortlessly.
Is it hard? Sure it is, but by week 3 your just rocking it like you own it.
Peace, and love you all.

your body does a good enough job on its own maintaining pH levels, you cant change that with diet(thats a big deit gimmick there). has nothing to do with an acidic diet. your body if working properly works well to keep things running. losing weight too fast results in muscle and lean mass loss,it can mess up your hormones, causing hair loss, brittle nails, kidney and gall stones among other things The only way you should lose weight quickly is if under the strict care of a dr who is monitoring you often and you have a one or a few comorbidities*such as CHF) demanding the weight comes off fast,to improve the quality of life.
losing 10k in a month is dangerous you are severely undereating. its not the raw diet making you lose the weight its eating way too little to sustain your body, which means lean mass/muscle is being lost as well. not to mention if you arent getting enough protein(eating fruit alone isnt healthy) and fats you are asking for health issues down the road. you may be losing fast but you are causing your body undue harm and stress eating nothing but fruit.6 -

The myth it's not healthy to lose weight quickly was born from the pharmaceutical system that wants to keep you fat and sick.Do you have proof of this? Or are you just regurgitating info from some Netflix mocumentary?
Fat in our bodies is nothing but toxicity No, it's fat., and acid our body has stored from an over acidic diet. It's fat our body has stored due to an excessive calorie intake to sustain us in times of famine. #science
Since I started listening to Dan the Life regenerator Who the what now? and switched to a raw diet (right now its just fruit) You realize you need fats and proteins for health, right? When you start eating real food again, you're going to gain the weight back.

When you crash and burn, please remember that all that is needed for weight loss is a calorie deficit. You can eat foods you like, just stay within your calorie allowance. A food scale and accurate honest logging of everything that passes your lips will do you much better in the long run.9
