When did you lose the belly fat?

For those that started with a BIG bloated stomach, how long did it take before you noticed a difference in your stomach? How much weight did you lose before you saw a difference?
Just feeling a bit frustrated.
Super happy with my progress so far (33lbs down) and still super motivated to reach my goals, however long it takes. Just frustrated like hell that my belly fat does not seem to be budging. I've gone down 2 sizes so I am shrinking, but my belly is still HUGE. I still look like I'm 7m pregnant.
I've even been taking progress photos and there is barely any difference between my first one and the one I took yesterday (no I won't post them. Not ready to share all of that).
I know it will eventually start to disappear, but damn. I wish it would happen NOW instead of last

2 years, down about 130lbs and still waiting for my belly to shrink.
Yeah, I know it has but man it's still big.15 -
Measurements and photos from different angles are the best way.
I’m down 45 pounds and have another 40 to go to my goal weight. My clothes fit better, I still have a belly and love handles. I hate it and it seems just as big as ever. The reality is the numbers tell me my belly is shrinking. I feel like when you have a big belly you almost have to rely on the measurements more than visual for awhile, then all of a sudden you look in the mirror and, poof! Your belly’s gone.
Just keep consistent, always trending down and it will disappear eventually.

I went from 173 to 130 in the past 9 months, and didn’t really see a lot of progress in my stomach area until getting from 140 to 130. My stomach is not (and never will be unfortunately) flat since I have had 2 abdominal surgeries and a 10.5 pound chid. There’s only so much shrinking I’m going to get but I’m happy with it.18

It was the last thing to go. Improvements were made along the way, but the last 10 Lbs was the most dramatic from beer belly to flat stomach/no love handles.19

Damn. So just gotta be patient until the bitter end.
I take measurements as well and I am down a couple of inches around my waist, but it's not actually noticeable. Belly shape is exactly the same, just a tiny bit smaller8 -
After my second baby, I would say I had more of a belly than anything else, it took about 7 months to lose it and lean out, about 15lbs. I incorporated strength training, getting enough protein, moderate deficit.
For some people it is the last place to go, for me I carry weight on my lower body and I can get ultra lean and it still remains in those stubborn spots.4 -
I never think I'm losing belly fat and then I take measurements at the end of the month and I've lost a couple inches! If you don't take measurements I definitely recommend it. It can be hard to see the changes happening to your body in the mirror, it helps to have other methods of measuring progress.6

Starting weight for me was 278 lbs. Got down to the 130’s but felt too small so I built some muscle. Now in the 150’s. I had a huuuuge stomach. People asked me when I was due all the time. The tummy was literally the last thing to go when losing weight. From my experience, to lose stomach fat, I would do speed/fast paced walking with sprints (running as fast as I could, like a 50 meter dash). Running & swimming are the best ways to get rid of big stomachs/guts. I definitely recommend coconut oil & L-Carnitine supplements as well. They’ve worked really well for me. Wishing you all well!16

From what i understand the body keeps the fat around all the vital organs the longest. It is the last place for me to lose as well but progress is progress. Do not stop, you will lose in your abdomen area.5

I am losing weight all over. Not really off certain areas first. Unfortunately this means that my boobs/belly/gut profile is staying in the same proportions. I mean, my belly is never really that much smaller than my boobs like so many women I am jealous of! 😃 It is getting smaller! It is just getting all smaller at the same time so it is harder to notice. NSV’s have been so great to keep me going! Good luck!

As your measurements show your belly is shrinking. Ironically it is of course shrinking in proportion to the rest of you. If your belly is where you tend to carry a lot of fat you will find that your face legs arms etc will look visibly lean before the Betty really starts to shrink comparatively so all you have to do is stick with the plan.
As a guy my fat is in love handles, I can be relatively lean everywhere else but still have two unsightly (to me) deposits right at the perfect location to spoil that oh so desirable triangle look lol.
You are doing good, stick with it and don’t let your head get in the way. And remember that between now and future abs you still have a life to live and many valuable days to enjoy👍16 -

over 80 pounds gone with 30 more to go and that damn belly is still there... ugh and boo BUT!!!!! I know this too shall pass so I keep on keepin on!!!!9

I started at 267 and it seemed a lifetime before I noticed my belly shrinking. Finally at 181, it was as close to flat as possible for me because I wasn't exercising. I should have exercised because I went up to 221 and my belly looks as big as at my highest weight even though I'm not. This time around, I'm exercising along with counting calories. Because I feel stronger with exercise, I'm hoping it won't be as long to flatten the belly again. I wish you all the best. Here's to flatter bellies!2

keto has nothing to do with belly fat,no way of eating does,you cannot spot reduce fat. fat comes off where it wants when it wants in a deficit. usually the first place you gain is the last place you lose.23 -

Yeah, I'm doing a keto diet as well and well.. I started this thread so.. diet definitely doesn't have anything to do with where you lose lol. I wish it did, but nope.
It is awesome that folks do lose the belly quick though, just sucks that they are the rarity instead of the norm.

Your fat distribution patterns are part of your genetics, and that can't be altered by any food, supplement or exercise.18

yeah unfortunately where you want to lose it the most is the last place it hangs onto. Just keep going. if you're dedicated it will come off in the end.4

Insightful thread. But yes that belly is still so much there. But on the other hand, I have now dropped three pant sizes so far, so I know it has been coming down some. And the measurements I take once a month show that it has well.
But between the appendix out, the C-section to deliver the daughter, and the total hysterectomy I have some less than cool scars that add to I will call belly flap hang over. But each day is a new day, weighing, logging food, and getting my walking in. And my twice a week strength training I have started will help me as I continue to lose weight.
And totally agree about the genetic comment because everyone on my side of the family both women and men carry extra weight in our front area.7 -

keto has nothing to do with belly fat,no way of eating does,you cannot spot reduce fat. fat comes off where it wants when it wants in a deficit. usually the first place you gain is the last place you lose.
we all wish we could spot reduce as that would be awesome. but sadly its not a thing. and nothing against keto either but I wish people would stop thinking its a special way to lose belly fat/body fat.8 -
I have my BF% down in the mid teens. I still have a little jiggle. My abs are starting to show; the muscles are in good shape; not body builder shape, but good definition around the edges of the abs; it's obvious they are there but covered in the middle.6

my guts and my upper thighs... never go away unless I start to dip into sub 20% body fat territory. And even then...3

Is there a possibility that it isn't fat and is a food intolerance? I know that bloating (actual bloating rather than a regular fat tummy) is generally caused by a reaction to a food. If it is just belly fat it will go eventually, but if it is a reaction to food you'd have to exclude the food for the bloat to go away.10

I too eat keto and my belly was the first place to start shrinking. This was unusual as I usually lose my boobs first. I lost a total of 16 inches off my waist in 8 months. I still have a bit of a tummy, but having 3 children will do that. However I am noticing that even though I am maintaining, rather than losing weight, my body is continuing to reshape and have lost almost another inch off my waist.
Just keep doing what you are doing and the tummy will shrink. We are all different and lose weight and inches differently.10 -
I’m close to the middle of the Healthy BMI chart and it wasn’t until recently when I went from 5-6 mini meals a day to 3 bigger ones that’s getting flatter, something about being a bit hungry seems to be helping, I’m eating the same amount of cals and my weight it’s the same 😏 Recomp? My workouts are pretty much the same as before....8

I have lost 35lbs so far, I still have 22lbs to go but I would say I've been lucky that I've been shrinking all over and my belly is almost gone. Suprising as i have had 4 babies.
I want my arm fat to go away more right now as I can hide my belly easily but summer on it's way I dont want to be wearing longer sleeves in the heat2 -
Have you taken measurements? I would feel quite certain that your belkybis smaller after losing 33 lbs and 2 sizes. It might not be your ideal, but it will be better than before. Keep it going!1

Yep, I take measurements and I am shrinking, but it's overall shrink instead of the belly disappearing... if that makes sense.

I went from 270 pounds to 181 and I have kept it there for a year. I have visible upper abs and if I stretch just right visible lower abs but I stretched my skin out so much being so huge that I will always have loose skin. That's just kind of the way it goes.2

My stomach doesn't look inflated, it looks like flab on the lower area. Some other parts of my body are like that too but again, it's just because I was so big and I don't think anything short of surgery (which I'm against) would "fix" it. I wear that flab like battle scars.5
