@taxgirl1, A serving of almonds is 10 nuts. A cup of almond flour is said to contain 90-100 nuts. Almonds have phytic acid in the skins, their protection to not be eaten and almonds contain polyunsaturated fats, omega 6, which we should limit. PUFA's cause inflammation and slow metabolism, prevent absorption of nutrients and more I'm sure. All raw nuts should be soaked first. Each has a different soaking time. I don't eat almonds anymore without soaking and sprouting them first. I have blanched almond flour but rarely use it. Try soaked and sprouted almonds, they are easy to digest. That is the way to eat the whole nut. 10 raw almonds in small jar filled with purified water. Soak for 8 to 10 hours or overnight. There will be a tiny white "tail" on the pointed end. That is the sprout. They will soften and plump up from being soaked. Rinse, remove skins, dry and eat. If you have a dehydrator, you can soak, rinse, dry and dehydrate an entire pkg of almonds.

Do they still taste like crunchy almonds after you dry them out again? Sounds like a lot of trouble.

ROUND 63 (Round 10 for me)
    5’5” 66 y/o Texas Lady
    SW 178 lb.
    GW 135-140 lb.
Started Keto WOE on September 24th (2018). Still experiencing decreased arthritis hip and shoulder pain since the second week of Keto. Staying within calorie limits is easy enough, but not exceeding my carb limit is difficult. Per my KetoMojo meter, I’m in ketosis most of the time. Some of my NSVs: my wedding band fits, I wear smaller clothing, and my progress has encouraged my husband to try harder to end his cigarette habit.
    Rounds 54 – 62 resulted in a cumulative loss of 27.2 lb.

    Day/Weight/Comment

12/24 149.8 Finally below 150! I failed to attain my goal of less than 150 lb. in the last round, but here it is! Now I have to keep it going down. Yesterday was too busy to take a walk before dark, and walking our roads after dark is too dangerous—wild hogs, drunk drivers, etc. This afternoon should be perfect for a walk. First, I have to pick up a pecan pie (and discipline myself to have one bite each day when my husband has a slice), and I have to trade my nephew’s gift out—I realized I dropped off the bag with new wigs for my mother-in-law instead of his toy. Oops! He’d probably have fun with the wigs, but they’ll look better on her.
12/25 149.6 I plan to eat popcorn today, so I expect a little gain tomorrow. (I hope it’s little.) Thor, my GSD, and I had a nice 4 mile walk with cloudy, but comfortable weather. He’s a great walking companion, and he loves going with me. We saw my husband’s kids Saturday and won’t see mine until this coming Sunday. It seems a little strange not rushing around to make last minute preparations for company, but it’s nice, too. We decided to take it easy today—see a movie, eat out, celebrate each other, and, especially, celebrate the birth or our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Merry Christmas to all!
12/26 148.6 We went to a movie yesterday and enjoyed ourselves. I ate popcorn, too—not a lot, but enough to make me feel like I splurged. I’m happy to see it didn’t show on the scale, at least, not yet. The only open restaurant was a Chinese buffet, but I was able to select keto-friendly foods. I read my fortune, advising me to pay attention to minor details, but I didn’t eat the fortune cookie. 😊 I was disappointed yesterday evening that my husband wasn’t hungry for pecan pie, so I didn’t get my bite. Maybe today…. Nothing but rain/thunderstorms in today’s forecast, so it doesn’t look Thor and I will walk. I think I’ll follow the example of @taxgirl1 and organize my closets. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
12/27 148.8 Tiny gain, but I had a pretty big loss yesterday, so I won’t complain. Playing cards with my friends today—probably canasta. Unlike my husband, I really enjoy card games and domino games. My singing group took a month off for Thanksgiving/Christmas, so we have to practice early this evening for a concert Sunday evening. There'll be no walk with Thor today. My husband skipped the pecan pie again last night, which meant I skipped my bite, but I ate one of his dark chocolate chip cookies. He’s been eating the cookies I baked and taking some to work. At Christmas, he took leftover pecan pie to a coworker, with my blessing. I must be patient. He’s probably trying to do me a favor. I already put half of the new pecan pie in the freezer to take to my boys on Sunday.
12/28 148.2 No time for a walk yesterday, but I enjoyed my card games with friends, and practice with my Magnolia sisters. I still haven’t had another bite of the pecan pie, but I’m surviving. Last night, the pie baker went to practice with me, and I found out the pecan pies she bakes contain 5 cups of pecans! That’s crazy. No wonder I like them so much!
12/29 148.2 It was chilly out yesterday, but Thor and I walked 4 miles. I had to wear a jacket, ear band, and gloves, but it was enjoyable. The prediction for today and tomorrow is cold and wet, so today’s plan is to stay inside. I went through “shrunken clothing” tubs last night and pulled out items I can wear now. I'm glad I held on to most of my smaller clothes. Today’s a good day to pull more baggy clothes out of the closet to donate.
12/30 148.6 The scale is punishing me for the bite of pecan pie and ½ of an oatmeal cookie I ate yesterday. I plan to have one last bite of that pie today before I hand the rest over to my boys. I’m excited to see all my boys today. I don’t get to see all three at once very often. It’s been years since they’ve all been together with their sister—maybe in the new year. At home, we have leftover spaghetti I made Friday night (I ate mine with spaghetti squash), leftover pork tenderloin I made yesterday, and a pot of keto chili that hasn’t been touched yet that I made last night. I shouldn’t have to cook for a few days. I have leftover roasted parmesan zucchini I cooked last night, too. I thank God we have a good roof over our heads and no shortage of good food. We are blessed.
12/31 147.2 Last night’s veggies must have cleaned me out. This morning, I weighed 3 times, moved the scale, walked away, and weighed 2 more times when I came back—still the same number. Yesterday was enjoyable—lunch with my boys, then a concert performance, followed by dinner with the girls in our group and one husband (not mine). The meals were good, but I didn’t try to figure calories—I just ate carefully. I messed up twice yesterday—forgot to take the pecan pie to lunch and, worse, forgot to tell my oldest son happy birthday. How could I forget? No one else said anything, that I heard, to remind me. I called him on my way to the concert and sang happy birthday to him. For the New Year’s Eve event at a friend’s home this evening, I’ll make a Twice Baked Cauliflower Casserole (for me) and a sweet desert (for my husband). If I remember, I’ll take the rest of the pecan pie! Enjoy your New Year celebrations!
01/01 147.4 HAPPY NEW YEAR! We celebrated with friends last night and enjoyed ourselves. I had one margarita, a small piece of bread, and a small piece of cobbler with a little scoop of ice cream, but everything else I ate was low carb. Texas A&M won their bowl game by a convincing score of 52-13. Yay! Thor and I had a 4 mile walk before the celebration, so that was good. I realize my blessings always exceed my trials, but I’m a little slow to make that connection at times and give God the praise as quickly as I should. I pray each of you will see blessings far exceed the trials in your lives in 2019.
01/02 147.4 First day back at work. No one came in to do a tax return today, which is good, since I need practice with the new program, and I left early to pick up my new orthotics. I’ll wear them Friday to take Thor for a walk. Tomorrow is card day with the girls, and Friday should be a little warmer and dryer. Today was wet and cold. I'm happy I continued weight loss during the holidays. It's been challenging, but much better than gaining the usual 8-10 lb. during Nov. and Dec. Thanks for helping me! See you in Round 64!

@FarmerCarla, I don't dehydrate the almonds. I just soak them overnight, rinse, put them on a paper towel and dry them. The skins slip right off. I would compare them to the crunch of a cashew. I've been eating them this way for a year. I will find info about soaked and sprouted almonds and the benefits and post a link here in this reply.

Round 63 - New to the group
    Male, 6'2" 42 years old

    Diagnosed with Type II - November 8, 2016 A1C = 8.7%, September 21, 2018 A1C = 6.1%

    Starting Weight - 209.5lbs
    Highest Weight - 227.8lbs, May 2016
    Goal Weight - 199lbs
    Ultimate Goal Weight - 194lbs

    Goals -
    * Under 1900 cals each day
    * No blood glucose tests above 180
    * Run 12/30, 12/31, 1/1, and 1/2 above 2.5 miles

12/30 - 209.5lbs. Not a great day. I have been battling a cold for a week and definitely using "feed a cold" as my mantra. Have not felt like working out. Tracked breakfast, but stopped after that. Blood glucose was terrible all day (multiple >200 readings). Need to get that under control immediately as I have a A1C test on January 10th. Will get it together tomorrow. Can't use colds and holidays as an excuse.
12/31 - 207.8lbs. Great all the way through dinner with eating right, tracking all food going into my mouth, and blood glucose <110 from noon-8PM. Kids made brownie sundaes and my sweet teeth got me. Not terrible though. Finished Peter Sagal’s book The Incomplete Guide to Running. Good motivator and will be on the treadmill today. Cold seems to be gone.
1/1 - 206.8lbs. Fantastic day. Ran 2.6 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill. It felt rough after having an awful cold for four days, but very happy to complete it. The key was no carbs from lunch through bed time which meant no bing eating. That is so key for me. Blood glucose readings were amazing all day. Long stretch between 90-110. I tracked my food pretty well. Extremely happy to see the reversal in weight from the cold/Christmas crazy carb, no portion control eating.
1/2 - 204.3lbs. So-so day. Ate okay. Did not exercise. Did not test blood glucose as frequently. First day back to work so need to watch emotional/boredom eating. Looking forward to the next round! Happy New Year!!!
    1/3 - 205.7lbs.

About me: 62, 5'7", hit maintenance in March 2018 and, typical yoyo, currently bouncing back up over original goal weight of 130. Want to get back to 127-128.
Crept back to JGM10D quietly in Round 60, disappeared for a couple of weeks, but I'M BAAAAACK

12/24 too much baking. no weigh, no log.
12/25 too much baking. no weigh, no log.
12/26 too much baking. no weigh, no log.
12/27 too much baking. no weigh, no log.
12/28 too much baking. no weigh, no log.
12/29 too much baking. no weigh, no log.
    12/30 133.6 and that was a gift.
12/31 - 134.8 - Yesterday ate almost double my maintenance calories. 135ish is what I weighed a year ago, but then I was going down! So this is the new ceiling and I am crawling back mid-round ... "rising again every time I fall."
1/1 -133.8 - yesterday only 6500 steps but under my calorie goal (-.5/week)
1/2 - 133.0 - yesterday 10,500 steps and a 45 minute bike ride - hubs gave me Speedplay pedals for my road bike and omg it's like a whole new ride, I was accidentally unclipping on hills before and it was so pathetic! I am totally happy with the new system, allows me to focus on just getting down the road, not fear of almost-falling.
Well under my -.5/week calorie goal for the day.

    1/3 - 132.8 - 8000 steps yesterday and under my calorie goal.

On to the next round, let' s do this!
