Lol the place I LOVED as a kid on holidays to America was Sizzlers LOL! I know I've been to a Wendy's but I don't remember it.
And the hotels we stayed at were always like a buffet for breakfast!!
They had EVERYTHING!!
Cereal (every kind lol!) toast, bacon, eggs, sausage etc etc etc then a whole bar just for fruit! (Me and my brother had a contest of how many melon slices we could eat once, I did 14 he did 16) and then they had croissants, muffins, donuts?! Pastries!!
And I'm sure there was more than that!
It was madness lol!! There was just so much to choose from lol!! But it was also epic at the same time!
I love buffets but man do I get greedy! I go back to the counters like 3-5 times haha I definitely get my money's worth plus more!

YES! This! There are buffets EVERYWHERE in Vegas! LOL! Where in America have you been @Bex953172 ? I didn't know you had ever been here!1 -
Today got away from me time-wise! Grandson's 13th birthday party, and I was moving slow so didn't get on here to post goals. But, I DID manage to not eat any of the Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Dang, that was hard! I did NOT however, manage to not eat any of the potato chips in the bag that was in front of me! I kept the damage very minimal but i just couldn't keep my fingers out of that bag.
So, I've decided to make today my "joy" meal day. Once a week I get to pick a day to have two meals where I eat whatever I want. If I had decided this earlier I could have had the ice cream cake...silly me! LOL So, I'm have a few slices of pizza for supper and a bowl of pumpkin praline ice cream for dessert! Yum.
Tomorrow I will hop on and actually write out goals For today, i'm trying to stick to what my goals would have been.
Hope you all had a wonderful Saturday!

Ermmm Orlando (twice) Disney World obvs.
Erm then we did a trip over 2 weeks so 4 days in San Francisco (Alcatraz there?) then drove to LA for 4 days, then flew from LA to Las Vegas. For 5 days.
So I've been to LV before, I wasss 14? So we had curfew and weren't allowed in casinos (they wouldn't even wait for my dad to tie his shoelace lol!!!) we went to downtown vegas, the actor Bryan Cranston was there filming for Malcom in the Middle and we got a pic with him!!
I went on the manhattan express rollercoaster in NYNY.
Saw a magic show!
But I had a dodgy hotdog on the day we went up the stratosphere so mum wouldn't let me on the rides in case I barfed lol! But it was amazing!4 -
The Manhattan Express rides a funny story, my parents wouldn't come on "too expensive for all of us" they said, but then my brother bailed too!!! So there I was in the queue cr@pping it lol! And they start shouting for single riders to fill the spaces, so I went up they put me in the FRONT seat!! And then I was next to this guy who was like I dunno, hippie kind of but was proper full on like "YEAH DUDE!!!" Piece signs and *kitten* lol!!!!
Crazy.
And I nearly drowned at blizzard beach in Orlando lol! And cried when my dad when on the HUGE "ski slope" slide because I genuinely thought he could fly off the end LOL4 -
I *may* have been somewhere else but can't remember where.3

@Bex953172 Your trip to the States was much more exciting than mine. My niece lives in Upper NYS near the Canadian border, so I have also been to Canada. We went in Feb 2011 to visit her. We took a trip to Mount Plesant to visit the Olympic ski museum. Then, we drove up to Mont Tremblant for 5 days skiing. After that we drove to Vermont, where our niece met up with us for some more skiing. The trip down was spectacular. (We saw ice fishing and a bunch of other touristy things). Finally we drove up to Boston (beautiful city!!!) for a few days to see the city sights. The winter snow was almost gone in Boston and the weather was great. Finally flew home to Dublin from Boston.
Our second trip a couple of years later was for niece's wedding. (Her mama and I were her long distance wedding planners) We had a full on week of writing placecards, sorting out and arranging the flowers, bridal showers etc, in roasting hot weather, then we caught the tail end of a hurricane on the actual day. 😂 Torrential rain and power cuts! But the sun broke through for the actual wedding in a lovely old church in Ogdensburg. We lost power for an hour halfway through the reception that evening but we didn't let that dampen our spirits. After the wedding the weather improved again. We had a cruise round the 1000 Islands, before we drove to Buffalo along the St Lawrence and through the Finger Lakes. We are hoping to go back again.3 -

I had a lovely lunch with my friend yesterday, we have been trying to get together for months now so we indulged and actually had a glass of wine with our meals. I never do that. It was wonderful catching up with her.
Today I have an unexpected day completely to myself. This is not something I normally ever get but Rodger had to work today and the Grands have a family dinner for their Dads side of the family to attend. I am actually going to enjoy it. I’m going to give the house a good scrubbing and then work on my Halloween costume I think.
I took my other Daughters pride ring into the jewellers yesterday along with my anniversary ring. They both need repairs. It will be 600 for the both of them to be fixed! I told them to go ahead and do it though so that I can have them to wear. I still haven’t found the ring I lost. Before I take the trash out today I think I need to go through it to make sure it’s not in there. That will not be pleasant but I will always wonder if I don’t do it.
@terririchardson112 - if you ever get to that part of the world again you should plan to go late September early October to see Fall in the New England area. It is absolutely beautiful!
@bex953172 - you have seen a lot of the attractions in the States, I have not scene the attractions but have travelled a good part of the States when Rodger drive transport. I saw a lot of loading docks and truck stops. The scenery though, which is my favourite is breathtaking.

Before moving to Boise (Idaho---western part of the US) we lived in upstate NY outside of Albany in the Adirondack foothills. We took several trips to Boston and the NY area where you last visited. It is quite lovely out there. The falls are spectacular with the burst of color everywhere.3 -

I have had to root through the rubbish bins plenty of times! And ALWAYS because of Ash lol!
Get some gloves on! I find it easier to get an empty trash bag and as I'm pulling rubbish out put it in the empty bag so you don't just have to root through the bag where you could easily miss it or put anything on the floor or anything.
It's totally gross but worth it if you find it.

I found my ring!!!! I decided to check the couch one more time before trying going through the garbage! I used a wooden spoon handle and out came my ring and a loonie! A loonie is a Canadian $1.00 for those that don’t know.7

Good morning! Happy Sunday!
@Snowflake1968 SO GLAD YOU FOUND YOUR RING! YEA!
Teri and Bex have both been to places I have not! But they are on my bucket list. I'd love to see the upper NY area and Boston. I'd like to go visit the San Francisco area also! Ireland and Scotland are like my dream trip, actually. I don't feel as though I will ever see either, however. But if I could go on any trip, that is where I would want to go.
Tim's waiting for me to get my butt in gear. We have some friends who were in a terrible car accident and we are going to visit them for a bit. So, I'd best get my goals on here.
Just for Sunday:
Journal every bite on both MFP and in the paper journal for doc.
No sugar / No flour / No dairy - basically stick to whole food diet
80 oz water
30 minutes activity. (Maybe Body Groove video again? That was fun last night.)
Read today's Bible study: Losing Weight God's Way
Household chores
Prep veggies and fruits for the week
Meal plan
Laundry
Library for books on plant-based or Mediterranean diet ideas
Declutter one kitchen drawer
Determine order of quilt squares and get them pinned together to sew
Walk Maddie
Prep for tomorrow
Evening Self-Care Routine
Bedtime: Gratitude journal, inspirational readings, the read next few chapters of mystery, lights out by 10:30
WOTY: TENACITY!!!! I continue to pursue a healthier lifestyle with the tenacity of a bulldog after a bone!1 -

I've never been to Scotland (which is weird when it's only a few hours drive) and never been to Ireland lol!!
I saw like a meme thing between British and Americans and how we think that six hrs travelling is a long time and Americans are just like "pah! That's nothing" because isn't like Texas as big as the U.K. Lol?!
I'll try find it..3 -
@Snowflake1968 so pleased you found your ring and did not have to go through the rubbish!2

Fitbit exercise goals but I went out for a ride and it counted the horse’s footsteps. As I’ve not ridden for a while, I expect to ache tomorrow!
Attend to Happy scale trend - aim to be below maintenance. Probably not
It was a beautiful autumn day today and I had a good day going out for a ride and enjoying Sunday roast cooked by my dad.4 -
@Snowflake1968 That’s brilliant, Tracey. So pleased for you!
@Bex953172 We drove through Scotland every summer on our way to France. And my brother lives in Leeds. We have been to quite a few places in mainland Britain. And NOTHING in Ireland is more than 6 hours drive from where we live near Belfast. 😂 😂 😂2 -
I haven't posted all weekend but I saw all the posts about travel in the US. Thought I'd share photos from this morning outside our front door. Trees are ginko (leaves usually turn bright gold) and autumn blaze maple. Weather can affect how the leaves change.

It was a busy weekend with my high school girlfriends .... and it rained all day long while they were here. Cold, and rainy!! But, we went shopping and to the casino, and then I got us all tickets to go and see Celion Dion in concert! That was SO much fun!
I ate really well while they were here, but when they left, I got into leftover cookies. Ate about 4 cookies today ... but then I stopped. I put the rest in the freezer, and hope to get back on track right away tomorrow. No more sweets!!
SO JFT, Monday
1. go to the gym
2. concentrate on water
3. remember to think like a thin person... when I am hungry, do not grab junk food. Eat a apple or egg
4. make hard boiled eggs
5. cut up melon so it is easy to grab
6. mindful eating

Hi everyone. Sorry again for the long absence. I’m still here, just got a little bit out of the habit of the forum posting but i know it helps keep me focussed so I need to find the time. There’s lots for me to catch up on but I hope you are all well.
I’m up and down with my hamstring thing on the physical side and worries about the upcoming surgery on the mental side of things. Trying to stay strong. Yesterday I took part in a half marathon. It’s my second one ever and with the dodgy hamstring i wasn’t sure I’d start, let alone finish! But as my last opportunity for a race pre surgery I decided to just go for it and actually managed it faster than the last! 2:08 - four minutes faster than before!
So I think it’s time to shake off the negativity and head into these next few weeks feeling good about myself and positive about my ability to recover from surgery and get back to my best. I keep saying it but I need to start believing it. Hopefully yesterday’s race is the boost i need for that....

Scale goalsEnd of 2017: 174.6
End of 2018: 189.2
January 2019: 186.0
February 2019: 187.0
Today: 193.7
Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
