We’re not picking on you. We really want you to succeed, hence all the questions.
I’m 5’9, 190, so I know you can lose on 1900 calories, because I can too.
Nearly 100% of the time, if someone isn’t losing weight, it’s a logging issue. That’s why everyone is trying to dial that in.20 -

It's actually the best problem to have because it's so simple to fix.23 -
I’m on my phone or I’d link the “so you dont use a food scale” and the “how I stopped kidding myself” threads.
They have some great illustrations to give you some ideas on what you can modify.0 -

But are you weighing all solid foods with a food scale?
I swear I am.
How long have you been eating this way? Consistently, meaning weeks/months. No cheat days? Special occasions? Unlogged meals/days?
If you aren't losing weight, you definitely are not consistently averaging 900 calories per day, or even close to it.
Consistently the last 2 weeks I havent deviated at all, but before that I would have fast food about 2 times a month. Also I was eating bread up until 3 weeks ago, then I cut it out since I found out it was making me sick (I have a light wheat allergy)1 -

Fast food doesn’t prevent you from losing weight. With 1900 calories as a goal, you should be able losing weight eating up to that amount even if it includes fast food, if logging accurately.
If it’s only been a couple weeks you likely need to give it longer to see a change but you really need to focus on logging accurately and eating the right number of calories which is more important for weight loss than the right type of food.

Truth. I save 200-300 calories for ice cream or chocolate every night. I weigh it out and savor it. If I tried to cut out all my favorite foods, I would freak out and binge.16 -

Did you ever say - the foods you’re eating, do you enjoy them? Do they fill you up? These two factors, along with eating a varied and balanced diet are part of what o think makes for long term success.

I am very new here. I have been logging and weighing food to the app for three weeks and working out with a personal trainer two days a week for about three months. I have measured macros before a few years ago as well as measurements and weighing myself daily. I am on the large size at 270 and 5’8, and though it’s never said too little on mfp, I have been told by my trainer I eat way too little and that is actually a problem. I only can lose weight by getting calories under 820 6 days a week with no added fat carb dairy, etc. even tuna is too fatty. But one day a week eating fats from avacado and nuts. So again, I defy all logic, and struggle as it seems you are and no one believes.
She had me water tank to see what my actual ratios were and I’m nearly 150lbs of muscle so I should be burning over 1,900cal just waking up and breathing. I have an appointment with the doctors to see if they can take my bloods and see if there is any hormone issues, but every time I do they come back within normal range because if and when a doctor believes me they don’t when those come back normal.
This is just the most recent attempt to lose weight and feel healthy for me. I’ve trained for triathlons and never dropped an lb after being seditary and finishing school. It doesn’t really matter what I do or don’t do, I can’t seem to get results.
I get that everyone thinks logically what we are saying is impossible, but at 820cal I can even stop losing weight if I eat the same thing for more than a few days. (Again, previously tracked macros for months and months and lost about 20lbs)
I like to say my body is efficient. It wants to keep me “healthy” and fat because I can also eat (or drink rather) thousands of excess calories and I don’t gain weight unless it is consistent enough/months go by and my body thinks I want to go up a size as my new steady weight. If I eat the same thing it thinks that’s the new normal so it stops losing.
All that to say, my trainer has bumped me to over 2,000 calories and I’m having a hard time eating it all especially the carbs. I have carbs in veggies, but I’m not too much of a carb lover. She has me eating Guac toast with smoked salmon to help get it in there.
She had at first talked to me about intermittent fasting, but that isn’t a problem for me. I can work out at 5:45am with her and not eat my first meal until 1:30 and stop eating by 7pm no prob, because my body isn’t hungry until about 3. If I haven’t eaten by then I’m in a bit of trouble mentally so I have to force myself to eat around noon. So again, we have passed on that bandwagon and gone the line that I need to maintain all day long. I have a green smoothie that I am starting to sip on all day and then eat as well on top of that to see if I can’t get my body out of this holding pattern it’s been in my entire life.
When I tell people how little calories it takes for me to lose or how little I actually eat they don’t believe me. I think one of the only reasons my trainer does is she is also my friend and is in communication with my husband who is an outside third party verifying what I am doing and saying. No he’s not with me every step of the way, but we’ve been married over 19yrs and he is a part of this and in it with me. He does most of the cooking so he has to be on board, and he’s always maintained the same weight since high school. We eat differently in the fact he enjoys carbs and bread and eats them all regularly, but other than that we eat the same things and have a healthy fresh diet.
Side note, my body is taking a bit of an issue with all the insolvable fiber right now, so I haven apparently been eating enough leafy greens my whole life, but I’m hoping that will go away and so will this raging thirst and we will see results doing the opposite of what I have always done. At least it feels like something different is happening.
I wish you luck, and perhaps eat more to lose more. For me the jury is still out, but I’m hopeful! Yesterday I was eating 4oz of smoked cheese and almond flour crackers doubting the logic of eating more calories because I was enjoying it so much. But time will tell.51 -
@darenefollett
I'm sorry, but you aren't maintaining 270 pounds with 820 calories per day. Not long-term. There are either big food logging errors like we've been mentioning OR you have a medical issue. I'm glad you're going to the doctor, but I would also suggest you do the digital food scale and WEIGH every item you eat for a couple months. Make sure you vet your food entry choices before you trust them, too.
Good luck. Maybe start your own thread?39 -

using cups is not weighing though. you saud you had a cup of yogurt,4 eggs(how much did the eggs weigh?) as for weighing lettuce in handfuls? if you are not weighing it on the scale in grams its now going to be accurate.how much did the cucumber weigh? with or without peel? eating healthy doesnt equal weight loss. I became obese eating healthy because I ate too much.10 -

You usually only get that message if you're eating under 1,000 calories. And if you're eating that low, yeah you're not eating enough. 1200 is the bare minimum you should go, and even that's too low for a lot of people.14 -

Yeah I eat fast food a lot more than I'd like to. Because it's easy. The calories are already figured whereas I have to do complicated math for things I cook myself. lol
I've lost 30 pounds eating a diet 70% in fast food. Logging accurately is everything.

OP - try changing to 'Sedentary' and actually logging your daily walks separately under the Exercise tab. With correct food and exercise logging (CI and CO) your figures might start to balance out. (I log as Sedentary but am not as I walk, cycle, lift regularly. However, knowing how much I've actually burnt that day rather than it be pre-calculated as a given by MFP means that if I have a couple of off days, my food allowance is lower.)
Hope that makes sense.
I second what everyone else says about retentive logging/food scale :-)21
