I am pre-diabetic and am looking for people or a group where we can help each other as I don't know that much about diabetes.

Check into the Low Carb and Keto groups. Lots of pre and diabetics on those groups controlling their glucose with LCHF (low carb high fat) diet.

Did your diagnosing doctor give you any suggestions? Can you get a referral to a registered dietitian? There are lots of folks on the boards who have avoided progressing to diabetic status by losing weight and becoming more active. Welcome!

The biggest single thing to improve your numbers will be weight loss. The 2nd biggest will be regular vigorous exercise. Low carb eating can also help lower your blood sugar but that is not the long term solution is getting to healthy weight.5

Welcome!
There are plenty of people here in the main forum who can relate to what you're going through. As you may already know, losing weight and increasing activity are the best things you can do to start reversing your diagnosis. You don't have to do low carb or keto to achieve this, unless that way of eating appeals to you and is something you can see yourself sustaining for the long haul.
What is your height and current weight? We'll be able to give your more specific advice if you provide us with those stats.3 -
The first two things I did was to ask for referral to a dietitian, and started logging all my meals.
I quickly learned to associate certain foods with a spike in blood sugar.
Suddenly sweets and white rice became a lot less appealing.
The best imagery I was given was the diabetic plating method.

Blood sugar is less to do with forbidden foods as it is about regularity (eat on schedule!) and a distribution of the macros with a preference for vegetables.7 -
Thank you everyone. I'm 5'2" and weigh around 221. All my dr has told me is to watch my carbs and sugar but didn't say how much or how many grams a day to shoot for0
