I live in a rental duplex and the landlord decided to sell the place. So now we are not sure if we're even going to be able to live here much longer and may have to move without much notice.
Usually when things like this happen I get stressed out and drink a lot.
@BuffMom84 I hope things workout in your favor during this rough time. Fingers crossed. 💓2 -

Also love the goals your putting out there for everyone to see.

@BuffMom84 I feel your pain. I wouldn’t stress too much about the house being immaculate. It’s not your place you are trying to sell! But, keep it tidy enough that if the future buyer is going to continue to use the property as a rental, you don’t want to look like you live in filth, be “that” tenant!
I’m realizing that I have a propensity to blow my plan if alcohol is available during the day. Was at a luncheon after a funeral yesterday, and it was at a pub. I was seriously tempted, because that’s what you do, right?
I’m glad I didn’t drink- one because I knew I was going to have my planned wine at dinner last night, and two, I wasn’t exactly going to get a good glass of wine. I’m starting to get picky about my wines when I do decide to drink!
You know how certain places fill the wine to the rim, leaving no room in the glass for the wine to breathe? Those places generally don’t serve anything worth sacrificing being AF for!
Oh Good Lord, I am turning into a wine snob! Haha!5 -
Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I like coming on here and rambling my thoughts on a daily basis, it really helps!
Last night I had one less beer than I usually do on Friday nights, when I ordered dinner I didn't finish it all and didn't order dessert. Later on when my sister ordered a pizza I didn't eat any of that either. I also went to bed more than an hour earlier than I usually do. But I still have a headache today after only having a few beers last night! Oh well, I'm glad I'm not miserably bloated like I usually am on Saturday mornings. I'm proud of myself! I think I'm at the point where I'm used to drinking a lot less and now I can focus more on eating healthier.8 -
@feelingfoofoo Awesome! Feels great to make those positive chsnges! I already did a nice hard workout job Sat morning and going for a hike! After AF life is great!4

I'm glad that I didn't have any beer in the house last night or else I probably would have drank. At least now on those nights when I feel like drinking but don't have any beer, I don't go out and get any. Any other time I would have gone to the gas station up the road for a six pack (and drink the whole thing in one night). Glad I'm not hungover today because I have to clean the house AGAIN and be out of here for several hours.7

“But I soon learned that drinking never elevated anything. Mostly I ended up face down in my own misery. After I got sober, I found beauty everywhere. I noticed things that had never caught my attention before like the birds that visit my patio, the summer sky full of clouds and kind interactions between people. Seek out some beauty. Visit a museum. Go to a bookstore and leaf through some home design books. Drop by a botanical garden. Straighten out that print on your wall that has been off-kilter for months. Visit photography websites. Beauty is all around you, and it multiplies. Invite some beauty in to remind yourself what a gift this sober life is.” - Meredith Bell8

Just wanted to share that I've made it through the 2nd weekend in February and still going strong AF since Jan 1! I'm amazed that it's getting easier and I don't obsess over the fact that I'm not drinking my nightly glass of wine. In January I was still struggling with trying to distract myself from it and feeling deprived. I don't feel deprived anymore, I just feel good that I'm making a healthier choice right now.6

Love 💕 and feel the same way!2 -
This evening is a great example of enjoying AF for me. This evening I was a bit sideways over a few things. In the past it would have EASILY been please pour the wine faster!! In turn, would always make things worse. I am thankful I was able to change my attitude and now going to enjoy the rest of the evening rather than pondering on things that are unnecessary. Win Win!3

Another weekend in the books. If there ever was a stressful weekend this was it for me. Had planned to "help out" at a baby shower yesterday...you know....putting up balloons and baby banners, making sure the Mama-to-be was in total surprise and never caught wind there was a party for her that day...simple "helping out" stuff.
Saturday morning I get a call from the the party host. And she is freaking out because no one RSVP'd to let her know what food dishes they were bringing to the shower(pot luck). NOW I am being asked by the host to start cooking and baking for this event that is taking place in about 24 hours.
Not sure how I pulled it off AF as I was at my breaking point.
Day 41 AF streak still going strong.
Have a great Monday all.13 -

Went AF Friday night, which is great for me!
Saturday was planning on it, but went to a after mass food event and had a glass of prosecco and two shots... again, thats pretty LIGHT for me so I am proud I STOPPED.
Sunday- started with the best intentions, was food prepping, ONE shot turned into 5- all while I cooked. But I did make it to the gym Sat and Sunday, i got all my cooking and cleaning done. Just wish I would've had the willpower NOT to drink yesterday. It's such a "routing" habit... Next weekend I am setting a goal!!!9 -
Again, I just love this thread. I get so much inspiration on here. THIS is the reason I don't loose weight. Tracking my food and all is helpful, but my downfall is the consumption. When I can do it within moderation I will be successful. My anxiety is I will have to go AF completely. I don't want that. I want the old me, that enjoyed it on occasion at events with friends and family, not a nightly requirement.
I remember when my husband did a 30 stay in rehab for his drug problems 30 years ago. I attended one of family presentations that talked about the euphoria stage. The addict needs to meet that and it made sense, but I never thought that I'd be in the same boat. 30 years later, I have a hard time stopping once I start. So, my weekend, Friday I had my normal allotment, 5 beers and two run and cokes (good for you @gladys0919 for passing on Friday!!) Saturday a social event, another good buzz on. Sunday, had two beers left in the house. Thought I'd need to get more. We took a drive to watch balled eagles, usually we each grab a couple for our country cruising. Yes, I know, VERY STUPID AND DANGEROUS, that's our life. Anyways, hubby didn't take any...….hummm…. ok, hummm…….well I want at least one. I mentioned to him I will need to get some more while we're out, he told me I could do without. Well normally he'd still stop, or if not, I'd go after we got home. We didn't get anymore. Today, there was only one beer left in the fridge. I drank just the one. Felt so good to go to bed with a clear head, and even better to feel fresh when I woke up. As I laid in bed last night I told myself, do not stop and buy any beer tonight either. That's my plan.
Have a great Monday everyone!!6 -
I'm back from my work trip! My goal was to stay AF until I got back home on Friday. Our last night there was Thursday and we went out to a wine bar for dinner. We had such a productive (and tiring week) and I was so proud of myself for flying completely sober (twice!) that I felt fine breaking my streak a little early. I had 3 glasses of wine on Thursday night, 1 drink on Friday, was AF on Sat, and had 1 beer on Sunday.
I'm amazed that my first weekend adding alcohol back I had a total of 5 drinks - that's less than I would usually have in one night, let alone over the course of 4 days. My goal from here on out is to have at least 4 AF days per week, and when I do drink, to be sure it fits within my calorie goal. My 37 day streak served me so well, I learned a lot, and I'm excited to keep moving forward with alcohol being a much more insignificant part of my life.
