There are a handful out there but this is a very hard way of eating to stick with. Vegan is generally a high carb diet and keto a low carb diet. Doing both is very restrictive and neither will have better success for weight loss alone.4

Seems pretty hard to get adequate protein on keto vegan. I respect people who are vegan for ethical reasons and get that keto can be helpful for some, but the combination makes little sense to me. What's wrong with something like WFPB?4

I was thinking this too. Vegans get their protein from plant sources, which are higher in carbs.
OP, why such a restrictive way of eating? It doesn't sound enjoyable or sustainable for any length of time?2 -
The Low Carber Daily created a bunch of links for vegan keto'ers in their launch pad stickie at

They did a great job.
I'm keto but closer to a carnivorous diet than vegan. Keto with animal products is more common. There are some who do it but not that many. There might be some in the keto subgroup https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1143-keto
You might want to try the ketogenic forums by 2ketodudes. There may be more there. Good luck!1 -
I don't think there is anyone here actively doing vegan keto right now (although we do have people start threads from time to time looking for insight on the diet). Last time I looked, there was a community on reddit (r/veganketo), not sure if you're aware of that.2

Vegan keto may seem restrictive (to many people), but it's doable with a few modifications. Below is a listing of foods that may work well for you...
Low carb veggies: dark leafy greens, mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, capsicum
Nuts & seeds: macadamia nuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, cashews, hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds.
Plant protein: tofu, tempeh
Fruits: berries, coconut and avocado
Fats: oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil, Olives, Peanut butter
Coffee, tea and unsweetened clear drinks
Milks: Sugar free plant milks
In order to reach your macronutrient goals for vegan keto, plant based fats such as: avocado, olive oil, hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, nuts, and coconut are needed.2 -

In order to get sufficient protein though you're still going to be getting higher carb intakes.
For example-1 cup/146 grams of avocado has 2.9g of protein, 12g of carbs and 234 calories. If you're relying on that as a protein source then you're going to take in a lot of carbs/calories. I know avacado is typically considered a fat source but I'm not seeing a lot of good protein source on this list. Tempeh is higher in carbs, seeds and nuts are calorie bombs (and some of the ones you have listed are higher carb, like pumpkin seeds which have 15 grams of carbs for a 1oz serving); some veggies have a decent protein makeup but still not stellar etc. Tofu is a good protein source but it would be pretty boring to have to rely on that in larger quantities every day.
OP-what interests you about combing a Vegan/plant based way of eating, with a keto way of eating?

What's your daily protein goal in grams?
Since carbs are inherent in plant-based protein, am curious to see how you will meet it while not exceeding a keto carb maximum.
I'd like to have your number before doing the math.1 -
Everyone who commented isnt following vegan keto haha and I'm looking for like minded individuals, not looking to explain the lifestyle to anyone who doesn't understand the whys or hows.6

Hi. Your question has been my question too! The only reasonable way I am finding is with a vegan protein drink as a supplement (I’m getting them from Protein Works). It really helps to fill me up on the protein front without excessive calories and without the carbs. Then I use alot of coconut oil. Sometimes I have a spoonful on it’s own to get the fat intake up. Although I quite like the drinks it is really only something I can sustain for the duration of my diet. I will need to think again when it comes to maintenance. So I’m viewing keto as a weight loss rather than vegan life plan.1

You're probably not going to find anyone here who does a vegan/keto combo because it's so restrictive and not sustainable for any length of time, for most people. There's been a few others who've asked about it but from follow up posts it doesn't seem any of them actually went through with it.
Best of luck to you!3 -
@trudinetherwood548 we have so much in common! I'm vegan first and always. And keto is something I'm following for a weight loss push because I'm 1 year postpartum and still 60lbs heavier than what I was pre-baby.0

for the record, in NO WAY is keto required for weight loss. you can lose weight eating the foods you currently eat just at a calorie deficit.

That's because there are very few people who would do this...I haven't seen anyone on MFP do this or do it for very long. The WOEs aren't particularly compatible.5 -

I applaud ethical vegans. I knew many healthy and fit vegans during my three years in yoga communities. The ones I knew well were able to maintain a healthy weight while eating probably around 60% carbs. They made legumes the backbone of their diets, ate very little accidentally vegan foods like Oreos, and led an active lifestyle.3
