@dawnbgethealthy have you hit your monthly goal of AF days already? With still a week in March to go? Woot woot!

today’s plan. Don't buy a bottle.
3/7 – well its been 34 hours without my whiskey.
3/8 – 58 hours AF
3/9 – AF
3/10 – 1/5th whiskey
3/11 - AF
3/12 - AF
3/13 – AF
3/14 – AF
3/15 – AF
3/16 – AF – 6 full days. Mission accomplished. If I chose to drink tomorrow, I am okay with it
3/17 – I plan on having drinks today after grocery shopping!
3/18 – well yesterday was un-productive. Oh well I guess I have all week to get things done. Back to the plan!!!
3/19 – AF – cravings are kinds going away but I did get my fix on Sunday.
3/20 – AF again yesterday. Checked BP last night and I am spiking again. Probably from drinking on Sunday and going through withdrawal again.
3/21 – AF yesterday! - wanted to drink but for 2 reasons I did not. 1. Didn’t want to fail again. 2. Didn’t want to show weakness and ask the wife for the 2 bottles I did not finish last Sunday. Stupid man pride!!!
3/22 – AF yesterday – I would have thought each day sober would get easier. WRONG. I am not counting the days sober, rather I am counting the days until my plan allows me to have a drink and feel good again.
3/23 – fricken AF last night again. Sick child turned 21 the other day and made it out to legally purchase adult beverages. Of course, the wife joined in while I sat and wished it was a drinking night for myself.
3/24 – AF yesterday, today is my one day a week I allow myself to drink freely. My 2 goals today are wait till noon to drink, and to get enough to sleep and feel good, bloody Mary is just a couple hours away. yippee

My goals for March will be the same as the previous months - 4 AF days per week. I have found it to be a realistic goal for me. I hit my goal in February (and surpassed it a little). Daily accountability is good. I was a daily drinker before making this resolve.
I log the next morning usually.
March 01 - 3 drinks - yes, chose to do that because I have a free Saturday to sleep in, basically no responsibilities or commitments. I had a very busy week and it was so nice to finally kick back, have a great dinner and a few drinks.
March 02 - AF
March 03 - AF
March 04 - AF
March 05 - AF - technically my goal of 4AF for the week.
March 06 - AF
March 07 - 3 drinks
March 08 - 3 drinks - time to rack up some more AF days. I think that I broke that good advice on here not to have drinks 2 days in a row. It too quickly can fall back into a habit that I don't want to go back to.
March 09 - AF
March 10 - AF
March 11 - AF - now to get the scale to move!
March 12 - AF - I really really wanted to have cocktails last night, but also didn't want to look puffy, so vanity won out : - )
March 13 - 3 drinks. Those of you who have seen me on here before know that I throw up if I exceed 3 : - )
March 14 - AF
March 15 - AF - This is all about weight loss for me. Seriously, not a day goes by that I don't want to have drinks of one kind or another, but I want to lose weight more! Company coming, I don't know if I will imbibe or not, but I have been pretty "good" this month so far.
March 16 - AF - Planning on drinks for Sunday
March 17 - 2 Gin Martinis, 1/3 - 1/2 of a bottle of wine (shared between 3 people, but I might have had more than the other 2 people.
March 18 - AF
March 19 - AF
March 20 - AF - Planned night out Thursday
March 21 - Wine before and during dinner (2 glasses) 2 drinks later
March 22 - AF
March 23 - 2 drinks, 1 beer
16 AF days out of 23 days so far2 -
3/24 - got my booze fix today. had a nice nap after dinner and am enjoying one last sip of leftover cocktail from this afternoon. it was a mildly controlled day considering my no limits food and drink Sunday rule. back to the grind tomorrow. thank you all for your likes, hugs, and woo's7

@Buffmom Your doing wonderful. Those were great choices.
@Stephanie20685 You are so strong!! That takes real inner strength. You are the only reason you need to help yourself.
@marcvb35 You are becoming my inspiration!!
You know, it's funny, I sit here on a Monday at work, reading all of your wonderful success and I feel like "I can't wait until I get to that stage". On the other hand, I'm thinking, "I liked my 5/6 beers each day this weekend, do I need to stop?"
Who knows the answer to that right now....not me, and I'm not going to dwell on it. That's more in the future then I want to worry about right now. I am proud of myself for going so long with out wine. Maybe I need to track those days. I'm not even sure how long it's been since I've had something other then beer. Wine was my nemesis and a lot of it. If wine ran out there was always rum or whiskey … hey, good stuff. But, I do not like the person those things created. Since I joined UAC and AF groups on MFP, I feel SOOO MUCH better, my joints are more limber, I am moving easier and I have lost almost 10 pounds since early Jan. I started at 203 and am now at 195. I'm happy about those things. ANDDDD...……...TA-DA...…...Made it through the first weekend in years without a hangover!!!! whoo whoootttt!!! Progress, not perfection
Have a great Monday ya all!! Love ya!

I'm on day 10 without a drop of alcohol (day 7 of AE). It was finally slightly easier to get out of bed this morning, although I don't think that will ever be easy for me. Since I didn't drink Friday, it was easier to not drink on Saturday, and I never drink on Sundays anymore so I didn't even think about it last night. I found that on Friday and Saturday nights if I drank anything out of my beer pint glass (sparkling water or kombucha) I can sort of trick myself into not thinking about drinking because I'm already drinking something out of my pint glass. Maybe this Friday coming up I can hang out with my sister again and not care if she is having a few beers. I did eat a bunch of junk food this weekend that I wouldn't normally eat though, like cookies, chips and ice cream so I didn't really save many calories by not drinking. Hopefully this weekend will be easier.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do when the 30 days is up. I know I can't really moderate because I slowly go back to drinking more over time. That was evident last month when I drank 9 times as opposed to 5 times in January. And before I stopped drinking this month on the 15th, I'd already drank 5 times. Maybe I'll try to be one of those people who has a beer or two once in a while or maybe I'll give it up entirely. I'm not sure yet.6 -
March 21 - AF
March 22 - habits got me, but I stuck with a 6 pack
March 23 - AF
March 24 - AF
March 25 - I've been thinking about it since the 23rd. "just one..." but it never is. I've been cleaning all day, now off to the gym to take my mind off it. At least I'll be too sweaty and gross to go to the grocery store after, lol. 3 days will be longer than I have since January, so here's hoping!8 -

It is our bodies craving the calories you used to get from alcohol. Great thing is... those empty calories can now be replaced with nutritious well deserved calories from food.
Nice job @marcvb35 with those alcohol free days your racking up.6 -
Hi all i just stumbled upon this community group and I'm so happy i did. I've been an everyday drinker for about the last two years. I stopped drinking once for 23 days last month it was the longest I've went in a very long time. My goal was to go for 30 days. So I'm starting again to be AF and reading some of the post here i see i need to make my goals simple. Today hopefully i will be able to remain AF. It's easy to say now since I'm work8
-
thank you for noticing. although this might only be temporary. it is 30 years overdue and very difficult for me. a fifth a day is a hard habit to brake. i am determined to follow the rules i have set for myself until april 18 after dinner.

Ok i didn't make AF popped the top on my first beer of the day. I only bought two so that's worth something😒😒9

Alcohol free all of March so far. The first full month sober I've had this year. Can't wait to finish it out, then onward to a fully sober April.11

Hi all! I was AF since this past Saturday. Went to a clothing party last night, where they always serve wine. My better judgement told me not to drink because I’m fighting coming down with a little cold. But I caved and had a glass of white when I saw everyone else drinking.
The good news is that I can stop at just one, so I switched to water. But by doing AE (day 9), I am noticing that I drink to fit in if everyone else is doing it. Geez, am I in 7th grade again??? My “planned “ days are always social events such as book clubs or dinners out with friends. That’s going to be my challenge as spring and summer brings golf outings and drinks after paddle practice.8 -

@Womona Good for you for stopping at only one! I'm on day 9 of AE too.
I'm surprised that my husband hasn't had anything to drink since last Tuesday, which is amazing for him. Then I realized that when I go to the grocery store on Thursday or Friday to get a 6 pack, I'd usually get him a 12 pack. Since I didn't do that last weekend, he just didn't drink. I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I last had a drink. I haven't done that probably since I became pregnant with my daughter more than 6 years ago! Today we talk to the credit union to see if we can be pre-approved for a house loan. Nervous about that, but whatever happens, happens.6 -
Good Morning,
I wish my computer at work would allow me to click the "like and hug, etc" buttons, but it won't. I have oh so much to say But little time....
I've been stumbling along, ok, not the plastered stumbling, but not cruising either. Trying to figure all this out and how my life fits into AF. I'm learning and you guys are by far the BEST!!!
Keep up the good work!!
After work yesterday I took the dogs for a walk, then unleashed them jumped on the golf cart and scooted to the club for a glass of wine. Oh yeah, I was ordering dinner to take home. That's the real reason I was there right? So, only one glass of wine and didn't take any home. Progress. But, I did have 3 beers before the night was over, and I feel it today. Sitting here reminding myself WHY AF IS SO IMPORTANT. Funny thing is, I can't believe how ONE glass of wine has affected me compared to how I managed after drinking one and a half bottles.... I almost thought about staying away from this group because I didn't feel I was doing very good with my choices. That's not an option. You guys are my lifeline! I'm here to stay
Love ya!

March 27 - wow! Day 5. Still thinking about it. I stepped on the scale today (mistake) and I'm heavier than I've ever been in my life. I know it's due to the alcohol. 1650 calories of beer on top of food on the 22nd, and that was a good day lol. So now I'm a bit discouraged, and so of course I want to go out and buy some, but I'll just try to remember "1650 pointless calories..."5 -
@FeelinFooFoo I LOVE DOLPHINS!! Nice pic! So that's where I lack, planning. I am heading to Orlando this weekend. Give myself some pre-thinking….what will be my limits?? We arrive around 7 pm, we are staying with my husband's uncle, who has a heated pool and hot tub. I was planning some wine to chill by the pool with, but after how I felt this morning, that doesn't sound like a good idea. Why does it seem that alcohol has to be the splurge beverage of choice? I need to start working on those options. I will think about Friday evenings choices. Saturday we are heading to New Smyrna Beach and the NASA space station. I need to plan ahead what to eat and drink, or more importantly, NOT eat and drink. I can do this!!6

Try not beat yourself up. I have learnt through many mistakes, that it's best to just start afresh and leave the 'failure' in the past.
Just try again. .maybe take a small break and then get back at it. Re-group.
It sounds cheesy but this is a journey not a destination so even the failure is just part of the learning process. If you look at it, you will have learnt things from the supposed 'failure'.
We are all behind you !
Ditto.....could not have said it better. @tabmis we have all been where you were when you wrote your post. It is a bump, not a hole. Make today better for yourself. ☀️3 -

March 01 - 3 drinks - yes, chose to do that because I have a free Saturday to sleep in, basically no responsibilities or commitments. I had a very busy week and it was so nice to finally kick back, have a great dinner and a few drinks.

March 08 - 3 drinks - time to rack up some more AF days. I think that I broke that good advice on here not to have drinks 2 days in a row. It too quickly can fall back into a habit that I don't want to go back to.

Sorry that I can't "like" "woo", or "hug" anyone. I see that a few people are still able to, but many people can no longer edit their own posts (within an hour) or "like" etc. I did check my Java, no problem there. Hopefully MFP will fix the issue.
Good job everyone on contributing.5
