What's so wrong with adoption? There are gazillions of kids who're begging to be part of an expanding family through adoption.

I've tried for years to con my wife into adopting a child, but with no luck. So I'll have to settle for the 3 we had the old fashioned way: With a bottle of manachevitz and a Barry White album.

Because Social Security is an abysmal failure, and it's going to take 14 workers for each recipient to keep the checks coming when I hit that age, so my wife and I need 28 kids to cover us, and if we throw a few extra in there, you're welcome.

All joking aside, I have 3 kids, and I'd take a couple more, but we're done and that's okay too. Really, it's no ones business but mine. And as for the whole overpopulation and natural resources aspect, really? Get out of the city and have a look at the other 95% of the worlds land mass, it's called wilderness, and we have plenty, and there is not a single natural resource that is not renewable.

Sorry, but she's right. This is why the Social Security system will be running into trouble. There are many more Baby Boomers than there are "GenX" and GenY" to pay for it all. Birth rates *are* on the decline.

I completely agree that it's a pyramid scheme, but acknowledge that fact doesn't help the people who have paid into it for 40 years and about to retire. I was not suggesting to "breed our way out of the problem," just pointing out that the other poster is correct about declining birth rates.

What's so wrong with adoption? There are gazillions of kids who're begging to be part of an expanding family through adoption.

I've tried for years to con my wife into adopting a child, but with no luck. So I'll have to settle for the 3 we had the old fashioned way: With a bottle of manachevitz and a Barry White album.

Oh well.

The biggest problem with adoption is all the red tape that makes it so expensive. I have known people who wanted to adopt, but found it to be a demeaning and outrageous process. Apparently bureaucrats believe that children are better in temporary, state-approved situations than with a couple who will love and care for them.

I completely agree that it's a pyramid scheme, but acknowledge that fact doesn't help the people who have paid into it for 40 years and about to retire. I was not suggesting to "breed our way out of the problem," just pointing out that the other poster is correct about declining birth rates.

There's nothing wrong with having several children. Children are ALWAYS a blessing from God. The problems you spoke of are related to the moral decline of our country and the breakdown of the family unit as this country turns it's back of God and Godly values. I don't believe that things will improve until people in our country acknowledge their sinful ways, repent, and put their faith in Jesus Christ as personal savior. Things could be so much better if we lived by God's laws, and not our own.

I think if you don't have kids you can't understand why people would want so many. I don't have any, don't want any, and would give my eggs away for free. Most people can't understand why I don't want to exp the "miracle" of child birth....I can't understand why people think kids are a miracle. I just enjoy my life and let those who like children enjoy their life.

Now from the scope of working 40/hrs a week to support people with 12 kids who are on welfare that is lack of education; financial, sexual, etc.

And as for the whole overpopulation and natural resources aspect, really? Get out of the city and have a look at the other 95% of the worlds land mass, it's called wilderness, and we have plenty, and there is not a single natural resource that is not renewable.
