This is the first time I've ever felt like MFP needed an "Aaaiiieeeeeee!!" click-reaction. That's creepy (in a fun way)!11 -

That is so adorable.1 -
A cleanse would make you feel better.
you look great, what's your secret ( I give answer ) Oh that can't be true, that's too easy!
You should try a water fast, that last 10lbs will come right off.
1400 calories isn't working for you let's lower it to 1000...4 -
A minor one, but I keep thinking about it because of how it was framed. Memory is fuzzy about it.
Was opening up to a work friend about food troubles. We both struggle so it was a good camaraderie. She was like "we could work on doing a detox together" but in a way that implied a detox was just something you DID when you were trying to lose weight. Like, it was a standard part of the process. I'm a people-pleaser so I explained to her that I couldn't do one due to my past issues with binge/restrict, but left out how I think detoxes are kind of pointless in the grand scheme of things.8 -

Yup yup! Turns out our bodies are pretty good at that sort of thing all on their own! Haha
Had my uncle (who's around 400 lbs) tell me " my body is just much more efficient than most people and burns next to no calories!" -facepalm-
Shortly after I looked up a study showing that 2 standard deviations (95%) of the population fits within a +/- 500 kcal range of metabolic rate(at a similar body weight and activity level of course). Hmm hard to believe he could be that special. Haha5 -
I came here for the face-palm, and you lot haven't disappointed11

One woman I know used a similar site to MFP, and had very good progress as she lost about 10% of her body weight and still had a long way to go. She stopped tracking her calories & macros and she said it was because she liked going out to dinner on Fridays with her boyfriend and she couldn't enjoy it if she was tracking the calories, and it was too hard to figure out with local restaurants. She's since regained the weight she lost. I didn't suggest just skipping the entry for that one meal (something I've started doing in maintenance myself). I guess it was not worth it to her.
However, same lady spends hundreds on MLM weight loss products, so there's that.6 -
One of my co-workers (who is always on a diet or another) has the theory that whatever you eat out of your home doesn't count. For some mysterious reason, her diets never work... and she swears it's because she still hasn't found THE diet which agrees with her. Nothing to do with the giant chocolate pastries from the school canteen she eats every day.3

Dumb forum syncing. Re-posted on correct thread.

One of the best ones I've heard was "I don't know why I'm so overweight, i eat healthy and do everything I'm supposed to do!" as they shovel massive amounts of cheese down their throat. I'm not making fun of them because I'm also guilty of unhealthy eating but its the denial that kills me.6

"I'll just stick to my diet pills and not eating bread after 1pm and I'll be fine"
And then she walked out of the office and the other fit girl and I looked at each other like "srsly" 😐5 -
"That donut will stay in your stomach for a week."
I wish someone would tell me cream cheese frosting doesn't have any calories.11 -

If there was a donut that would stay in your stomach for a week, that would actually be a great thing for weight management. Several days of satiety for what . . . 500-900 calories? It would be a diet superfood.25 -

I may eat a big doughnut just to test this theory.11 -

Definitely this one. I have a lifelong friend who calls my 130+ loss "a big metabolism shift" and believes this is proven because I still eat carbs daily and occasional fast food.11 -

I eat bread literally every single day! And I still eat pasta a few times a week too! I've only been at this for 2 months but I'm down 14lbs.8
