The healthy range for your height according to BMI is 115-145, BMI is a good starting point but not the be-all, end-all of the right weight for you. Perhaps aim for the top end and then adjust your goal when you get there?16

If I were you I'd probably start with a goal of 150. That's at the top of the "normal" range for BMI for your height. Then once you get there you can see how you feel and if you want to try to go further.9

I started with a personal training
On Monday
I’m so excited10 -
When I set my original goal I'd been morbidly obese for my entire adult life and had literally no idea what weight to aim for. So I set my goal to the top of the BMI range for my height.
When I actually got there I realised I could comfortably go lower, and adjusted down. Goals aren't set in stone; they can change.16 -
I'm 5'6", 38, and started at 165. I told myself I would lose 20 pounds, but 15 would be fine too. As I started getting close to 150 I lowered it to 140, then 130. I got to 130 and felt really good. I felt like I looked good in pictures, clothing fit nicely, I didn't have many "squishy" parts left (that tummy kills me!). At 130 I was a comfortable size 4 (US).
I gained about 20 pounds back (over 3 years) so now I'm back to taking it seriously. I really was happiest around 130. I may aim for 125 just so I have a bit of a buffer, but we'll see when I get there.
The key is to go slow so you don't look like a deflated balloon. But take it day by day. I find that once I commit to doing the calorie counting correctly for 4 days straight, always hitting as close to the calorie goal as possible, it becomes much easier. I have been back at it for about 2 months and have lost 7 pounds.
There is a website that shows photos of people at certain height/weight. It can give you a good idea of what you could look like at different weights. mybodygallery.com5 -
I'm 5'5" and currently weigh 150 lbs. My goal is 130 and the closest I've ever gotten to it is 140. I felt pretty good at 140 when I was more heavily invested in strength training but I still could afford to lose a bit more of the vanity lbs then. Now I'm just trying to reign in my sweet tooth that has been relentlessly savaging any and all of my efforts!0

Also note: The goal weight you put in your MFP profile has no effect on the calorie goal MFP estimates for you: Zip, zero, nada, none.
The goal weight setting is used for some motivational messages, the optional profile page "ticker" that shows progress toward goal, and that sort of thing.
You can set your goal to one thing now, and change it later, without any direct affect on your weight loss process (other than deciding when to stop losing ).5 -
I'm 5'5 and started at 184 also. I got to 135 and stayed for a year, got down another 3lbs which was kinda rough, and hover around 135 again another year later. Honestly my maintenance cals are so low as it is I can't imagine trying to get lighter, now. I've strongly been considering gaining some back, without working out I only get about 1500 a day depending.2

Honestly, you don't have to decide any time soon. Just keep working your way down. I've met and lowered my goal weight 3 times and counting5

I'm 49 and 5' 4". My goal is 144. I'm currently 205. My highest weight was 260.2

You may also find that as you lose weight and your lifestyle changes your goals change. Not just with regard to the number on the scale. Initially at 5’5 I wanted to drop from around 154 to 134 but as I have got into my fitness my goals changed to be about racing, PBs, my times etc and now I aim for a goal weight 121-124 but that’s not just due to how I want to look, it’s so that I can be lighter on my feet for running and carry less weight on my bike.4

Thank you everyone
It is nice to know that I’m not alone3 -

I'm 5'3". My scale is exactly 5 lbs less than the drs. But I'm posting my scales weight with the 5 lbs in the back of my mind. But I started at 181 (dr scale) on Dec 16th and today I'm 171 ( dr scale) so 10 lbs in a month. Goal is 15 more by mid March.1

I would loss until you feel comfortable.1

I hope this was an unintentional scroll-by disagree.
If not, test it and see. What I posted is absolutely, objectively true in MFP.
Not in a different world (TDEE calculators, etc.), perhaps, but 100% true for MFP.6 -

More likely someones nose got out of join because some rational, sensible advise you've provided recently goes against their current fad/miracle diet and the only way they can get back at you is through petty use of the disagree function.10 -
Can you show me some pictures
Of what you look like0 -
I am 55 and 5'5". If I go below 148 everyone says I look too thin. I can fit into a size 9/10 at that weight. That's where I am most comfortable. I also feel like anything below that, for me, is too difficult to maintain.2

I’m currently at 171.2 hoping to get to 1500

It wouldn't help much, really. Everyone is built differently. I started at 183 (way too much for me), have been in the mid-130s for a couple years now, lately slowly losing because I'd prefer to be back in the 120s, but as a health-motivated person I'm not concerned enough to want to do it fast. (I'm 64, if that matters.)
Others above have said they feel they're best at 20+ pounds more than I prefer for myself. It's differences in build, differences in preference. Among women, width of pelvic bones and breast size can make a major difference, among other things.
Why not just lose weight at a sensibly moderate rate, and assess how you're doing as you go along? The process is no different if you lose to 150 or to 120 . . . the only difference is when you stop eating at a deficit, and start eating maintenance calories.
If you need photos, there are bunches of them in threads over in the Success Stories part of the forum, including some for people in specific height ranges, if I recall correctly.6 -
I’m 47 years old and 5’4”. I started MFP at 162. My goal range is 125-130 and I currently weigh 133. I maintained at 125-130 for several years before re-gaining the 30 pounds. I love how I look in that range, although pretty much love how I look below 135 generally. I feel too thin when I hit that low end at 125. Also, I do barre class (strength training) 2-3 times a week now in addition to running about 16 miles a week so my body feels stronger this time around and so how i look at this weight is a little different than before.-1

Great job
2014 I was running a marathon relay with my niece. It was a lot of fun. But I hurt my knee really bad and no longer can run. After that I was depressed. Cause I loved running. I gained all my weight back . So I have been trying to loss it again. I’m currently walking for my exercise.4 -
As @annPT77 says we are all built differently. The amount of muscle you have and other factors make a big difference in how much you should weigh. I'm 5'5.5" tall and 63 years old. I lost from 251 to 143 and had folks telling me I was too thin. I've gained about 15 pounds (YIKES!) and am working to get that back off. My original goal was 135 but since I'm pretty busty and old I just couldn't seem to get there. My maintenance calories before intentional exercise is about 1350/day. I am happiest between 140 and 150. Anything over 150 I feel fat.2

I'm 5'5 almost 5'6 and started mfp at 160, lost down to 134 and liked that, now I'm at 139 and feel "fluffy" 😤 why when I hit 139 coming down I felt slim now going back up to that I feel like Cptn. Bloato? Must be distributed different or something, anyhoo I think I'll hover around here, was at 125 in my early 30's and looked skeletal, I hate pics from back then, I think just keeping up on my strength training will help me feel better and not so fluffy (hopefully)2
