    04/16 189.8 @ 6:00AM - Need the accountability again. Back from vacation and the number I saw on the scale scared me. I promised myself I was done with the wild swings, so I'll be logging my food, refreshing my habits again (and again and again), and recording my daily weights here!

    10 DAY GOALS: Planning to (1) log everything carefully over the next 10 days with maintenance range 1700 or fewer calories (2) 12-hour fast most days (3) Try to boost TDEE with small daily movements to achieve 2000 steps daily (I'm disabled and I often get less than 1000 per day)

    To aid in my maintenance goal this week while enjoying my vacation (admittedly, a food-centered one in a special place I haven't been to for over a decade where I'll be headed to some of my all-time favorite restaurants, AND there will be a birthday party), I am experimenting with calorie 'banking'- purposely eating fewer calories for a few days in order to have more in the 'bank' for other days. Over the course of the week, it should even out to 1700 max a day, my maintenance calories.

    04/13 153.6 Same weight for days, and that's fine, since my goal this round is simple: maintain, don't gain! Walked a lot yesterday (for me), 4616 steps, and met my calories perfectly.
    04/14 152 Maddeningly, the scale kept fluctuating between 151.7 and 152, but I'm thrilled it's lower! I've been IFing for a while (16:8) and yesterday, I was starving in the morning, which is atypical. After having the usual coffee and water, the hunger wasn't subsiding one bit, so I opened my eating window early and didn't feel guilty at all, nor did I go overboard- trying out this intuitive eating thing in baby steps over the course of this long journey.
    04/15 152.8 **Banking calories for vacation** Did fine yesterday for a Sunday. A fast food meal but ordered from kids menu and did well otherwise.
    04/16 151.4 **Banking calories for vacation. Managed to eat a few hundred calories under yesterday as part of my calorie cycling plan to create some wiggle room for my upcoming vacation, so I hope this lower number sticks- it'll give me a better shot of not going over 153 this week.

    I am trying not to be nervous about my upcoming vacation/diet break and ran across an idea in an old thread that resonated: think of it as one week to practice maintenance. Shouldn't we all practice our maintenance lifestyle occasionally? My challenges won't be 'over' at goal weight 30 lbs from now; they'll be different. I'm recasting the vacation week as "practicing maintenance" and I feel good about that as a skill to develop along this journey. Vacations like this used to be a food free-for-all, but I'm going to practice eating with a goal in mind: *maintenance*.

    Weigh-in 4/24: 153.6! My "practicing maintenance" plan totally worked! Did a ton of activity some days, nothing but sit in the car other days. Ate a little over my usual several days, but didn't eat fully at the upper end of my maintenance range. Feeling ready to tackle the next round!

    @quiltingjaine Thank you for your well wishes. I wont be disappointed at all not to worry! As long as I'm following my meal plan, I will be happy with whatever I lose. I keep my HOPES the same though and be happy with 2lb losses :)

    @aadubb Posts can’t be edited after 1 hour. Most of us keep a note in our phone or doc on our computer and update that daily then copy and paste to the thread.

    So you update it in your own notes and then add it at the end of the 10 days?

    @aadubb I think most of us post daily, each time with our updated info after weighing in that day.

    @aadubb What @Hilogirl2018 said. I update the note in my phone first thing, then read everyone’s posts, (I may add to my note if something comes to mind) and then the last thing I do is copy and paste my updated note to the thread. In the morning MFP will return me to my last post.

    35 years old, 185lbs 6'1 and I cut 5 lbs...

    I cut a lot of sodium out of my diet and found that my salt based water softener was adding sodium to my water so I switched to a salt free water softener..
