Snack Attacks

Hey all! What are your favorite low calorie/healthy snacks? I am an avid snacker, so I always leave calories set aside for when I’m feeling the need to snack. I get bored easily though and start to crave unhealthy options. I know there’s no perfect solution to this, other than self-discipline. But what do you guys eat for snacks?

If I get sufficient sleep, exercise, protein, and fiber, I don't get the munchies or the urge to bored-eat.
I do keep protein bars around for convenient snacks.5 -
My go-tos are coffee, beef jerky, cocktail shrimp with hot sauce, turkey with light cheese4
-
Bananas, apples and grapes; or 100ish-calorie snack bags of chips, Chex Mix and such.
A little chunk of cheese and some fruit is a very nice snack; the more calories you have, the bigger the chunk of cheese can be.
I also like lowfat Greek yogurt with a light drizzle of honey.5 -
I, too, am a snacker, so I have to plan for the inevitable. I'm eating some Skinny Pop right now! I keep my snacking in check by weighing everything (to the .1 gram) so, as long as I keep the portions small, I can have a lot of different snacks.
- Apples
- Special K Pastry Crisps
- Ritz Crisp & Thins crackers
- Yasso frozen yogurt bars
- Hard boiled eggs
- Oreos (in small numbers!)
- Goldfish crackers
- Granola bars
- Dark chocolate morsels
- Bagel chips
- Whatever fits into my calorie budget, honestly
There's a great thread about new and interesting food products people come across. Check out some of the posts for inspiration. That's how I found out about the Enlightened ice cream pints (soooo good).2 -
I'm a salty/crunchy snacker, so my go-to is the snack-sized bags of popcorn and a collection of flavour shakers.2
-
My latest addition to snacks has been boom chicka pop popcorn!1
-
Apples, blueberries, strawberries (just had some from the local stand and they were super sweet!) dipped in Greek Yogurt with cinnamon, snap peas, Yasso bars, Enlightened ice cream, snap peas dipped in low cal yogurt dressing like Bolthouse. I also have a big salad each day for lunch and the volume of it feels like I'm munching but for a low amount of calories.2

If I ever get the munchies, I can always have an apple. I'm not a biiig apple person, so if I don't want the apple, I'm not actually hungry, lol. They last a decent amount in the fridge so it works well for me.5

I crave the wrong things.. chips, Ice cream cupcakes.. especially when bored or extreme temps...or when sleepy or lonely
When I plan ahead I have popcorn apples and carrot sticks.
H hungry
A angry
L lonely
T tired2 -
I rarely want to snack anymore. It used to be my downfall. My weak spot.
Now that I'm eating healthier foods, I find I'm satiated. If I absolutely had to snack, it would be fruit.0 -
Dried apples, fresh fruit and veggies.0
-
Seasonal produce. Right now, I'm loving cherries, which really satisfy that snacky impulse.3
-
Halo top salted caramel ice cream yummy😋😋😋😋 oh and Kirkland cocoa drizzled nut bar. 200 cals. So so satisfying. 😋😋😋😋0
-
Oh sure, you had to say salted caramel. Sigh.... 😟2
-
Carrots (sometimes with houmous), fruit, sugar snap peas, oat cakes. Now its summer I sometimes have a yoomoo frozen yoghurt ice lolly or a twister.0
-
I really like Nut Thins crackers by Blue Diamond. Satisfyingly crunchy, but not heavy. Just the right amount of salt and an interesting flavor.
Other snacks I like: yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit, and chocolate covered coconut granola bars for when I feel indulgent.0 -
Cottage cheese with fruit, a splash of raspberry balsamic and a small spoonful of Grape Nuts.
Hot air popcorn- with 4g butter and truffle salt if I feel frisky
Cherries, cherries and more cherries. I loooove cherry season.
Greek yogurt whipped with a few grams of sugar free pudding mix, pariciluarly cheesecake or chocolate, and maybe a few sprinkles of chocolate hagel schlag (hagel is a Dutch treat available on Amazon, and is to American sprinkles what fine Belgian chocolate is to cheap chocolate, and a few grams costs only a few calories)
Banana/almond milk/vanilla/dry oatmeal/cocoa powder/ice smoothie with either PBP or almond butter
Orange
Homemade beef jerky. My last batch was to die for. I marinated it in pineapple juice and Trader Joe’s Soyaki before drying and it is so tangy and just sweet enough. (If anyone else knows a good way to clean the dehydrator grids, please pass it long!)
Graham crackers with almond or peanut butter if I have a lot of calories left
Kind or Trader Joe’s nutty bars
Cheese stick
Pomegranate green tea is strangely filling to me
Water with ice. When I get frantically hungry, it’s usually not hunger. It’s dehydration. The water salves the dehydration and crunching the ice relieves the mental “need to feed”.

Cherry tomatoes, apples, blueberries, Greek yogurt, crispbread and marmite if I want something savory.0
-
I save calories for a nighttime snack every evening. My favorite is Triscuit Fire Roasted Tomato Crackers with a slice of Swiss cheese. The crackers satisfy my need for salty and crunchy foods.2
-
mullermilch, pistacchio milk drink0
-
Chocolate. 25g is around 100kcals.0

I recently have fallen in LOVE with Freeze-dried fruits! You get all the fiber, and nutrition, without the concentrated sugar. Added bonus...they keep FOREVER and you get the crunchy/sweet that I crave!1
-
I've recently discovered Rhythm Superfoods Dried Carrot Sticks. They're basically just dried carrots, but the process helps to bring out the little bit of sweet in carrots, plus they have the chip-like crunch. At 140 calories a bag (and 11g fiber), they've become a go-to for me.1
-
Start keeping track of your fruit and veggie intake and try to hit the five 1/2cup servings of veggies and 4 of fruits per day. I found that after I made sure to eat all of my fruits and veggies I was often less hungry!1

Popcorn or tortilla chips + salsa: measure 1 serving out into a small, cute bowl and put the rest away so not tempted to keep going. I get as much salsa as I want though because it's low cal.
Pickles. I'll even make "quick pickles" with some cucumbers + apple cider vinegar and salt if I'm wanting a salty snack. These are very low cal.
Strawberries, clementine oranges, pineapple, or apples when I want something sweet.
1 piece of a rich-flavored individually wrapped chocolate (again, so I don't keep eating a whole chocolate bar). I like things like this or this because they are rich so are pretty satisfying with a single piece.
If it's really something like soda I'm craving, I'll have a spindrift sparkling water - they have a little juice in them so they are still a little sweet but only like 10 calories (I can't stand the taste of most artificial sweeteners which is why I don't drink diet pop).1 -
here are some of my go to snacks: Blue Diamond Salt & Vinegar Almonds, Fresh Dark Sweet Cherries, Honeycrisp Apples, Watermelon, Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt, Peppered Beef Jerky, Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn, Harvest Snaps black bean habanero crisps with Hummus for dip, Halo Top ice cream, pistachios, DOVE Salted Caramel Dark Chocolates2
-
I like to mix equal amounts of nonfat Greek Yogurt and my favorite hummus with a little lemon juice. I like to eat this lightened up, tangy yogurt hummus the best with sliced raw zucchini and/or Trader Joe's roasted plantain chips.
Nonfat Greek Yogurt with a packet of stevia and a splash of McCormick's raspberry extract. Berries on top are delicious, with it, too.
A small portion of overnight oats with PB2.
Half of a light (low cal) English muffin with PB2 and a little low cal jam.
Scrambled egg.2 -
Chocolate, Chips, Cakes, Donuts, etc
No way I'm gonna waste snack/treat calories on "healthy" (whatever that means), gonna get maximum enjoyment from them. That's what they're for.1 -

The Enlightened Ice creams are delicious. My go to snack every few days is a small cone with one of them—mint chocolate chip is my current favorite I also love the simple truth low cow lemon cake.0 -
I like to do small mason jars with a scoop of hummus or peanut butter at the bottoms and carrots or celery for dipping—easy to make and take with me. I also will do a teaspoon of creme fraiche with fresh green beans—that one is my favorite !
Pan roasted okra is my current favorite. I’ve also been baking some of the low carb recipes from my fitness pro—a lot of delicious ones. The avocado chocolate popsicles are incredible0
