I think I am going to make today a rest day since I am going to have company tonight and need to get this house cleaned enough to be presentable. Besides, I'd rather start out Sept on a good note (run) than end August on one, since I'm no where near my goal for the month. I had hoped to get in 60 miles. I'm at 24.85!!!! Seriously? I'm not sure what happened. Congratulations to everyone who made their goal this month and good luck to those who are racing this weekend. Catch you in the Sept thread!8

Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen
Slept well last night, which is uncommon before a race. In fact, I had sleep niggles to deal with in the morning.
My crazy race plan was to run the first k in 6:45 and cut 15 seconds off every additional k. Should have known that was undoable, but it was a plan. My fallback plan was to finish around 32:00.
Based on the starting line, knew the course was going to be a little short. Splits were 6:33 (clogged up start); 6:20; 6:18; 6:30 (that *kittened* fourth k); and 6:19 through the finish line and over the grass to make the full 5k. To my surprise, finished in third in my age group.
Short of goal this month. It happens.

I'm not really sure. I just kept running past the finish line until my Garmin registered 5k. Maybe 75 yards or so.4 -

I made it to my goal! And this ends up being my 5th highest total mileage month ever (last 4 years of running). I ended up taking yesterday as a rest day and that was a good thing as I was super tired both mentally and physically. This morning I had a workout challenge to go to at the gym at 9:30, so I wasn't super excited to run before that, but it was a nice cool morning so I dragged myself out and did a pretty easy paced 5 miles. I'll do my long run tomorrow.
The workout was an AMRAP challenge, the same as we did around 4th of July weekend - so the challenge was to beat your performance from the last one. Each round was cardio (my choice was 805 m rowing), 50 dips, 50 rows, 50 burpees, 50 wall ball shots, and 50 prisoner lunges each leg. Last time I finished 2 full rounds plus a 3rd round of cardio. This time I finished 3 rounds of everything but the wall ball shots (did 2 1/2 rounds) and the burpees (did none of them in the third round, because I'm no fool). I was definitely much more efficient this time and didn't waste so much time between things, but it also did seem easier. So that's good progress I think.

I’ve done two runs while in Scotland this week. I ran 5.6 miles along Loch Linnhe in Ft William on Tuesday and 6.5 miles on Friday in Inverness. It was 54 degrees F, windy and pouring rain but it felt great! I was going to run again today but it was raining again and I didn’t want to have to pack up wet clothes and shoes since we were taking the train out of town later this morning. Not sure what my total for the month is but I’m positive I surpassed my goal of 80 miles. See you in September!6 -

August mileage 51.5 of original 40 mile goal. Parkrun was fun this morning with lots of newcomers. Then we walked out sweaty selves over to the coffee shop to sip, snack, and visit on the patio.7

6.75 miles today. Total of 109.05 keeps me under my 120, Yay! Add 10% -109+10.9 = 119.9, rounded to 120 goal for next month.
I don't feel like I'm making much progress. But I'm still running, and that's a lot better than trying to heal so I can run, again. I'll take it.

So close. I knew I was going to miss my goal by less than a kilometre but I had to get home so couldn't spare the necessary five minutes, also, as I can get a bit obsessed by numbers, I thought it would be good to knowingly miss by a short amount and not fret over it. Seems to have worked. Either that or I am just too shattered (and relaxed thanks to my massage) to care.
Also, I knew it was going to be difficult to make goal this month given the recovery from my events and our holiday, so I'm pretty stoked to get this close.

Easy run today... well two runs. Ran 1.5 miles, stopped then ran 11 miles... My wonderful bowels decided that it was time to unload some baggage early in the run. Thankfully I was looping past the house so I was able to duck in, in plenty of time then head back out again.
Brings me to 204.5 for the month. Next month is about trying to get faster for November race so no idea where miles will end up. That brings me to 1460 for the year so far. On track to break 2000 for the year, but we will see!

This morning I got to run a glorious 10.04 miles, my longest run of 2019 and enough to just inch me past my 55 mile goal! This might be the first time I’ve made my goal since January - certainly it’s my highest mileage month of the year. My left glute and knee are still sore, so I guess I should put some ice on my butt or something.
The best part of this morning’s run was that my dad went with me! He doesn’t run, but he can ride a bike very, very slowly, so we got a great couple of hours of chatting in which really made the miles fly by. He lives in California and I often only see him once a year, so it was really a treat. Rest day tomorrow, then race on Monday! I’m planning on taking it nice and slow, but I’m sure it will be a lot of fun anyhow.
This was a weird month. I had my lowest totals of the year for three of my four fitness goals (strength, mobility, and moderate cardio), and the highest for one (running). I only went to the gym four times, which is hard to believe but the spreadsheet doesn't lie. Well, that's life.

No run for me due to several 'technical' issues (i.e. watch battery died during warm up, then it got too hot to go out and college football was on tv!). Was planning to go 12, even got up early to get out before it got too hot. Too bad it was already hot when I got up. Tomorrow looks to be about the same but I will get out and get a run of some kind in even if it isn't the 12 mile long run on my plan. Next week is a bit lighter and then I taper up to the HM on the 15th. I actually made goal yesterday and this was my biggest mileage month this year. I also hit 400k steps for the month - haven't done that in a while either!
