Not really a "food" per se, but a highly underrated food COMBO is lemon + dark chocolate.

I put "Theo Lemon Chocolate" into Prime Now and they offered me hummus instead

Skate - why is it so hard to get? - It is the best fish EVER!!!

I worked on a commercial fishing boat back in the early 80s. We dredged the bottom of ocean for scallops. Everytime we pulled up the nets, there would be skate galore ... Nasty creatures and their tails are razor sharp. dumped them right back in the ocean and kept the valuable scallops.

Not sure I'd say best ever, but it's so easy and fast and delicious to cook it in brown butter and add a little vinegar. I also find it sad that it's generally harder to find--I have to go to a fish market to do so reliably.

    Good "underrated" choice.

And so easy to fillet, too.

lentils, split peas, and all types of beans. So many of my friends have never tried these or hate them. They're huge staples in my house.

Super random, but what are the super big beans? My grandma makes this AMAZING bean, brown sugar, onion dish in the Crock pot every Christmas and the really big beans are my favorite.

Huge beans would either be a "Gingante" beans from Greece or "Fava" beans.

Yep. Fava. I am 100% stupid seeing as Enlightened's Fava Bean crisps are my favorite... oops

Cabbage - just the boring white variety.
    Goats cheese
Herbs - all of them (except sage)
    Pears
    Rhubarb
    Elderberries
    Capers
    Carrots
Gooseberries - whatever happened to them! Not seen them for sale in eons! Little jewels of flavour!

Wait, herbs, pears, and carrots are underrated?

😂 I could say the same for your list!

Sumac, Chicken Thighs and Mushrooms are underrated? It’s personal experience at the end of the day (also maybe cultural difference to a degree).

It's funny because I was going to amend the chicken thighs and mushrooms. Chicken thighs are seemingly only underrated on websites related to losing weight (which boggles my mind but people can make their own choices) and I'm always surprised at just how many people dislike mushrooms.

Sumac just isn't common here, far less common that capers which I can get at most grocery stores. I can easily get sumac, but only because I live very close to a Lebanese grocery store.

I've hated beets ALL my life (and I've been on this earth for a LONG time)...sheer unadulterated HATRED for them, until I blasted away a ton of weight. I started getting out of my box of what I don't like or won't eat and tried beets a couple of months ago or so and MAN!What I've been missing all my life. Beets are everythang to me, especially when they are prepared in exotic and ethnic ways--YUM. Even beet salads I LOVE now.

I used to be a coffee (LOADED with cream) junkie when I was obese, and as a substitute, I started drinking all kinds of exotic green, flower, even herbal teas (PLAIN nothing added--just tea) and I LOVE them now. I still drink coffee, but drink exotic teas now everyday and I LOVE THEM!!!!

I love jicama, discovered it in a Dos Coyotes salad that I make a version of every day for lunch.

I agree with brussel sprouts. Bell peppers and broccoli don't get much special recognition. Same with edamame.
