Starting weight: 175.4
Goal weight: 170.0
November 25: 176.2. I'm happy that I was up .08 pounds on the very first day for several reasons: It's important to see that weight fluctuates on a daily basis, so we're after trends not one day's change. Also, an "up" day on the scale does not derail us; anybody who reaches their goal has numerous "up" days along the way. All is well.

My plan for Thanksgiving is get out and exercise. I find if I exercise first I tend to not want to eat as much because I don't want to blow all of the calories I worked hard on burning. So, I have a Turkey Trot planned to run tomorrow morning.
1 -
I have a heart full of thankfulness today. I'm thankful for my wife who, for some unknown reason, really loves me. I'm thankful for a job that pays the bills, for a roof over my head and food on the table, for a car that gets me from here to there most of the time, for my six children who can still tolerate my presence even though grown and gone (but home for Thanksgiving) and mostly for the One who loved me and gave Himself for me. A heart full of thanksgiving helps us to not try to fill the emptiness with food. I hope you are thankful today.
To myfitnesspal friends, you have inspired me, encouraged me and challenged me, and I love walking along with you, all headed toward the same goal, suffering the same pains along the way, rejoicing in each other's successes, hurting with each other in setbacks, loving each other from afar. Thank you for being my friends, and I hope to be a real friend to you as well. Much love to you today, and every day.3 -

Okay... I'm gonna be completely honest that I have no intention of limiting or avoiding anything today.
Here we can see the standard overall "duck it" attitude starting, after which I wil experience uncomfortable bloating so I can engage in a seriously unhealthy dose of self-loathing lasting at least a couple days through after I step on the scale tomorrow.
Does that sound familiar to anyone else?
At least I don't drink alcohol, so won't have to worry about any consequences from that. 😉

Yesterday actually wasn’t bad food wise for me I didn’t log but I couldn’t have been over maintenance, I had 1.5 plates of food with very small portions then 1 slice of pie and then a few glasses of wine, was honestly surprised to see my weight up today but I’m probably retaining a bunch of water! I hope everyone had an awesome thanksgiving2 -
Getting started late as I just saw the challenge but I’m in. I’ve been sick, and had a birthday last week so exercise and eating have not been what they should. So ready to join you. Will do my longer post later but for now:

Daily encouragement from your brother and friend.
Enjoy the journey!
I'm making a determined commitment to thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this weight loss journey, especially this 5 pounds in 5 weeks challenge we are all doing together.
I feel that one of the worst things we can do is "white knuckle it"; that is, grit our teeth and "suffer through another day" where we are craving to overindulge but restraining ourselves.
Compare that to rejoicing in stomach growls, loving to lay down our head on the pillow after a wonderful day of eating in a disciplined manner, rejoicing in one day closer to better health, etc.
We will not one day all of a sudden be happy when we reach a certain weight, if we do not enjoy the journey getting there.
So today, let's smile in our pain, rejoice in good eating habits, be emotionally available for others, love this one day that we've been given (for there is no promise of tomorrow) and be happy on this wonderful path we are on.
What will you do today to enjoy where you are right now, even as you are moving to a better place?
Enjoy the journey!3 -

Hey, I'm super happy that 1) I'm not over my starting weight for this challenge and 2) the anticipated self-reproach is much quieter than I'd anticipated. I ate everything I wanted in the quantities I wanted. This included some grains and sugar, which I generally avoid in the form of baked goods. Overall though, now that I think of it, with the exception of those things, everything else consisted of wholesome healthful foods. I even made the cranberry sauce with monk fruit, and was surprised to see how much everyone went after it more than usual!
