Enjoy the journey!
I'm making a determined commitment to thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this weight loss journey, especially this 5 pounds in 5 weeks challenge we are all doing together.
I feel that one of the worst things we can do is "white knuckle it"; that is, grit our teeth and "suffer through another day" where we are craving to overindulge but restraining ourselves.
Compare that to rejoicing in stomach growls, loving to lay down our head on the pillow after a wonderful day of eating in a disciplined manner, rejoicing in one day closer to better health, etc.
We will not one day all of a sudden be happy when we reach a certain weight, if we do not enjoy the journey getting there.
So today, let's smile in our pain, rejoice in good eating habits, be emotionally available for others, love this one day that we've been given (for there is no promise of tomorrow) and be happy on this wonderful path we are on.

Hey, I'm super happy that 1) I'm not over my starting weight for this challenge and 2) the anticipated self-reproach is much quieter than I'd anticipated. I ate everything I wanted in the quantities I wanted. This included some grains and sugar, which I generally avoid in the form of baked goods. Overall though, now that I think of it, with the exception of those things, everything else consisted of wholesome healthful foods. I even made the cranberry sauce with monk fruit, and was surprised to see how much everyone went after it more than usual!

I'm happy that I was up .08 pounds on the very first day for several reasons: It's important to see that weight fluctuates on a daily basis, so we're after trends not one day's change. Also, an "up" day on the scale does not derail us; anybody who reaches their goal has numerous "up" days along the way. All is well.

Most likely won’t make it to the GW for my first goal I really seem to be retaining an insane amount of water or something I’m not sure why I’m still higher than the first day, but I’m just staying the course and knowing the weight will come off even if it’s a bit slower than I want at least I know I’ve been in a deficit. Going to get my Christmas tree today I can’t wait! And going to the gym for the first time in years!2 -

I didn’t weight yesterday as I knew it would be up from Thanksgiving and felt it would be better for my mental health to just skip my morning weigh-in. I’m very happy with my weigh in today 😄2 -

Encouragement for today:
The Heart is Important!
I'm thinking about your heart just now. Not the physical organ that beats in your chest, but your heart, the center of your emotions, desires, loves and passions. Your heart is every bit as important as your physical body, and in fact, a healthy heart helps tremendously in losing weight.
Is your heart feeling loved and encouraged, or unloved, unwanted and discouraged? The first is like strength to our bodies, leading to good eating habits, the second is like carrying a burden and can lead to trying to fill the love-void with food or other things.
This, of course, is approaching the spiritual side of things, but I hope it is helping us examine the need to have a full heart, a loved heart, a healthy heart in order to facilitate good habits leading to weight loss.
I care about your heart, your inner person, the real you. I want you to know you are loved, valued and appreciated. If there is ever anything I can do for you don't hesitate to message me.
