November 30: 182.4 Thanksgiving Dinner Feast tonight with family. I expect a gain on the scale tomorrow.
December 01: 187.4 I honestly ate child sized portions but I guess it adds up. My best figure is under 2300 but I did quick calories on MFP at 2350. I burned almost 2600 so I’m not sure I understand the gain when I know there was less calories in than out, but that’s carbs for ya! Okay so I am supposed to lose 5 pounds by Christmas and I gain 5 pounds overnight just by eating at maintenance! So I have my work cut out for me but I’m not a quitter so here goes nothing!
December 02: (Goal for 1st week: 183.0) Actual weight: 183.2 Yay! TMI potty helped tremendously as it had been a few days. So I have about made goal afterall and am pleased as punch! Now, to keep up the momentum!
December 03: 183.6 This must be a normal fluctuation. Everything was perfect yesterday-Calories, Carbs & Increased exercise. It will show up sooner or later because diligence always pays off.
December 04: 182.6 Very happy with the 1 lb loss. Travel & food tomorrow. Looking forward to all but the scale on the 6th!
December 05: Travel Day. Sitting during long drives. Shopping. Restaurants. However, what goes up must come down so no worries though I will dread the scale tomorrow. Yesterday was sloppy joes, baked beans & candy corn at a friend’s house. I should have ate it without the bun but I was starving.

Fri. December 6: 228.5 - This was a shock. I weighed myself 4 times over a 30 minute period this morning to confirm. Last weight was 228.2 so I took the average.
Sat. December 7: 226.7 Normal eating yesterday - 1679 cals. Same as yesterday, I weighed myself 8 times over two hours this morning and took the average. SammyDee said it is a "classic" swoosh...doesn't seem to be finished yet
Week 2 loss - 4.5 lb
Total Loss so far - 6.1 lbs
To be honest, back in 2014 when I lost the original 75 lbs this was pretty typical. A series of one plateau after another. I'd go for two or three or four weeks with just a pound or two lost then BAM, I might drop 3 or 4 pounds over a couple days then plateau again for several weeks. The hard part was that the longer I went and the more I lost, the longer the plateaus got. I think we can all agree that dieting or 'deficit eating' over a long period without success is frustrating and it's easy to quit.

So I've been weighing in the morning, but not getting around to posting until I'm in bed.
Decided to fo something for my social life and went to a party for a couple hours tonight. I brought a nice greek salad for the potluck. Enjoyed a plate of healthful veggies and a moderate amount of lean protein.

I completely relate, Mitch! My body does that too and it drives me bonkers. It helps knowing this is just how it works, but will never entirely take away the frustration when I’m in the middle of one of them. Yay for hanging in there!!!!1 -
