So I did some quick math. In order to get back to my weight when I ran my last race, I need to run around 150 to 155 miles today.
That might be pushing it, even for @AlphaHowls
Just run 75 today and 80 tomorrow...4 -

@Teresa502 That's quite a bit of money found. Love that you all save it and donate to a great cause.
The only rule is that there are no rules.
I'm just going to see where 12 runs take me.
Poetic license is yours to use at your own discretion.
It's all about the fun!!!2 -
@PastorVincent I gave up on that a long time ago. Currently, I would need to run 665 miles to get back to an ideal weight. But that assumes I don't eat anything while running those 665 miles... so basically I will never be back to my ideal weight.5

No, see that is a losing game because there are meals in there then. Gotta get it all in between lunch and dinner!3 -
@Tramboman How's this:
On the first day of Christmas
my workout let me see
a squirrel high up in a pine tree.6 -

I have to admit when you said: "twelve runs of Christmas" I had a somewhat different thought about the meaning of: "runs" than that...3 -
How my morning went, baby upside and backwards because I didn't let go of the stroller for fear of him veering off the sidewalk and into oncoming traffic. He was terrified and screaming but fastened in and unscathed. Uneven sidewalk and I did not lift my foot up high enough, clipped my toe and airborne I went. But I'm fine, just scraped up. I'm still hoping to get out later for a better run.13

Perfect!!!!!
And by doing "day" as opposed to "run," you can even get your rest days in.

Ouch @LoveyChar! I bet baby was frightened watching mom fly through the air! Hope your knees heal quickly.2

On the first day of Christmas
fate gave to me
a 4.45am wake up call cause it burned to pee
Yeah, sorry, way TMI I know!
Two days of overeating and undersleeping combined with the sudden onslaught of a UTI at an unearthly hour had me heading to the doctors for antibiotics before most of the world was awake instead of running.
I did eventually get out for a little run once the meds started to kick in. Dammit I really don't like running in the afternoons. I felt sooo sluggish, which I assumed was down to the pasta we had for lunch. Later I realised the fact I probably ate all of January's calories between dinner on the 24th and lunch yesterday combined with nowhere near enough sleep two nights in a row could also have had something to do with it. AND I forgot to take my water with me. Thank God for quick-acting antibiotics, that's all I can say!
10 -
@LoveyChar That looks painful! Hope it doesn't hurt too bad and really, really glad your son is okay, even if a little frightened.
@eleanorhawkins Oh no! I hate UTIs. Good that you are taking care of it right away. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and the symptoms will go away quickly.1 -

Yeah, seriously. Ugh.1 -
@Teresa502 & @quilteryoyo thank you for your concern. I'm sore but it's so superficial, thank goodness. I cried at first but only because I scared the baby. Now I'm kind of laughing because it was such a dumb *kitten* move. I have been on that sidewalk thousands of times over the years and today I almost fall on my face. I'll just be extra cautious next time.
@eleanorhawkins Now that is misery. I've had one in my life and it was awful. My daughter got bath bombs for Christmas and she offered me one after I told her how nice they smelled. I told her no and for that reason, perfumes and such worry me. Not her, she doesn't worry about much at 13. Anyway, I hope you get sleep. I hope you get the eating in check (I'm guilty of overeating this time of year too). Your post made me laugh a little bit. I'll eat all of January's calories tomorrow, hahahaha. Better run wishes to you for next time...3 -
@LoveyChar - oh, rough start to the day, ouch! Poor you and your little one. Hope you aren't too sore.
@eleanorhawkins - yikes, another rough start. Hope you feel better very soon.

I took the dog out for a walk, dressed to run right after. On the way back on the trail I decided to try to combine the two activities and see if I could get Stella to run with me for at least a little while. She was not enthused but hung in fairly well. I managed to drag her along for about a mile back to the house, then I deposited her (and she was greatly offended) and headed back out to finish up alone on the roads. The run alone felt surprisingly good today - maybe I needed the comparison of slogging along in the slush with a pouty dog to truly appreciate.

Sounds like a fun run! You're racking up the miles, nice job!0 -

As long as those meals don't exceed your typical daily calorie expenditure, they should cancel out, right?
Running update:
I thought I was feeling better and had started eating again yesterday, so I decided to go ahead and run 5k for the virtual run I signed up for, since today was the last day to do it. About 2k in I realized that I don't really feel better, but was already out there running and not that far from my turnaround point anyway... so just kept going As soon as I finished 5k though, I stopped the watch and walked the rest of the way home. Oh well. Will get some rest and try again in a few days.
I mentioned this crazy cobblestone road a while back. It definitely slows me down, and I go a different way altogether if I'm cycling, but today I had no intentions of trying to run up, so took a picture instead.
And the scenery/weather:4 -
I got my shoes but have also been hugging the toilet all day.15
-
No run yesterday or today- both were scheduled rest days. It does not look like I will have a PR for distance this week - I have been really enjoying the rest and relaxation. Tomorrow I will probably do nothing again and honestly, I’m okay with that. I’ve been so exhausted and this is a cut back week anyway.
I may lift tomorrow, but we’ll see.
At the moment, all i can think about is sleeping. My tone will hopefully be different tomorrow5 -
Just updating my miles. Need 17 miles to meet goal. Hopefully should be able to get it done!

Thanks everyone for the sympathy :-) Much lower calorie than what I got from my husband, which came in the form of a chocolate pastry. Very sweet of him and thoughtful in an oblivious male kind of way, but how can he not have realised that atm, the rare days we're at home and I can actually correctly monitor what I'm eating should not be sabotaged by love in chocolate form? The look on his face when I said I couldn't eat that was so sad, but luckily I quickly came up with the idea that hey it would taste even better for breakfast today (not healthy but oh well, it's christmas)
@LoveyChar hope your poor knees are ok and little one has recovered from the shock!
Hugs to the sick and/or injured, seems like Santa got it totally wrong this year!
