12/19: 276.4 (-2 lbs) I wasn't expecting to lose any weight, (just stay the same) I'm surprised that I did. Happy with the result,
12/20: 276.2 (-2oz) Ate a little to much yesterday, and didn't meet my goal to stay at or under calorie amount for the day. I still lost 2 ozs. Much better then gaining, will try to do better today. Be more mindful of what goes into my mouth.
12/21: 275 (-1.2 lbs) I did have some sugar cookies that were given to me, but I try to include whatever I eat into my daily calories and try to stay under. Which I managed to do yesterday. I try to keep my meals healthy, and be mindful of what I eat most days. Happy to have lost more weight. I try to stay under what MFP sets for me.

Intro:Let me introduce myself. I struggled with my weight as a teen, topping out at nearly 200. I dropped it after high school and got to a healthy weight. Every major life changed has brought weight back on - having kids, pre-menopause, menopause, family tragedy, post menopause. I've knocked it back down each time, and have been surprised that each time required a different strategy, and resulted in a different type of lifestyle change to maintain. Each time as been much harder and slower. At this point, it's moving off at a snail's pace.
Motivation. I have a hyatial hernia. It does not bother me as long as I keep the weight at 150 or below. Every female on my mother's side has had arthritic knees, and I'm starting to feel twinges. They have also sustained falls and broken bones. My husband had a major health scare a coupe of years ago. The idea of being put out of commission by a preventable injury or illness scares the bejimminies out of me.
Goals. The goals at this stage are to drop weight to a healthy range, realign my eating style to a lifestyle that will keep me healthy into my golden years, and strengthen the muscles that support my knees, ankles, and shoulders, along with my core, to prevent injury.
Dropping weight post menopausal has been so difficult, I need this to be the last time. 10-15 pounds used to be easy to drop, so that was always my warning bell to focus. Not so much now. Looks like a 3-5 pound fluctuation will be it.
A healthy weight for me is 135-140. I've always looked anorexic at 120. We'll see how things are at 135, and go from there.

Strategy: Up the hydrating foods. Fruit with breakfast. Salad/veggies as bulk of lunch. Healthy dinner. Limit/eliminate processed carbs and sugars. Zero calorie intake after 8pm. Strength exercises 3 days on/1 day rest. Regular movement through day to compensate for desk job.
R99 Challenges: My biggest challenge this round is setting a goal. I'd like to show below R98's SW of 143.8 to overcome the spike, but not sure that is realistic with the holiday looming on Day 7. Christmas dinner will be ham, and that will undoubtedly show up with a sodium bloat. Honestly, if I can hold steady, I will be happy. I guess the real goal is to continue to increase the amount of plant based hydration in my diet and get back to my workout schedule to gain as much ground as I can, then stay focused post-holiday.

So so day yesterday, including Thai frestaurant for lunch with friend, so sodium galore. Of course there are several holiday events coming up the next week, so as long as I don’t gain anymore before the end of the month I’ll be ok.

Salt. I ate out twice yesterday and Thai food the day before. Not too overboard on calories, but lots of sodium — I feel parched and puffy! Nothing scheduled today or tomorrow so I’ll aim low. And it’s supposed to get up into the 50s today, so I’m going to squeeze in a nice walk! Have a beautiful weekend, all!

That’s a little better. I don’t feel so bloated — more water, less salt! I am planning to bake this afternoon but will try to leave the taste testing to my skinny DH. 12/20 DNW I’m getting a new scale today, even with new batteries, in the same location as always, it cannot give myself or my husband a solid weight.
12/21 265.0 I forgot to pick up the new scale yesterday, but I’m going out later today or tomorrow and will pick it up then. On the plus side I managed to get a solid weigh in today. My kids want to make sugar cookies and the recipe makes a lot of cookies. I’ve decided that I’ll divide up the dough so that we can make a few cookies over several nights instead of having a whole bunch that are gone in a day.

12/19: Did not weigh in this morning, just forgot to and probably for the best because I've eaten a little more than I probably should have over the last couple days. Hoping to get back on track today. I've been so very hungry though, guessing it's the added strength training.
12/20: 134.0 - not surprised, could have been worse. Right back on track this morning. But I know we are eating out tomorrow night and will have to make good choices. It's going to be hard, we are going to my favorite Thai restaurant, a real treat.
12/21: (my birthday!) 133.4 lbs - We ate lunch out with friends yesterday and it did not sit well with me at all, didn't eat the rest of the day. Still feeling a little queasy this morning. Will try to make good choices today, there will be some celebrations and lots of my favorite foods. Will just plan to put aside half or more to take home. I don't really want any sweets but the family does so I might have a bite of something. Worked out legs and shoulders yesterday and then played 2 hours of pickleball, my elbow/wrist felt pretty good - I'm trying out a new brace combo that seems to be working. Playing again today.

Previous Day's Comments12/19 - I'm not sure how accurate this is. I took off work today because for the second night in a row I was up with horrid coughing fits until the wee hours of the morning (3 am, I wake up for work at 5). I feel fine this morning but it seems once I've been upright then go to lay down, I'm done for. Not sure what's going on. I decided to take the day off after I started feeling feverish and I was throwing up from coughing so hard. Now all I feel is a sore nose and throat. Going to take it easy and rest today in hopes tonight is better. I'd be really surprised if this weight stuck since I know I'm dehydrated regardless of all attempts to keep liquids in. Have soups and soothing foods at home so I'll be focusing on those. Hello sodium (:
12/20 - Much better sleep with the help of meds and I feel much better today. I can still tell I'm battling, but having a full night's rest definitely improved things for me. Nothing planned today but rest as I'm quarantined. Lots of fluids, healthy foods, and being lazy (despite the unavoidable boredom since I don't know how to sit still)

I’M BACK ON TERRA FIRMA! The cruises had some bumps since it’s a new HUGE ship but overall I enjoyed it! No scale and lots of food for 12 days. 12/19: 218.6 (-0.8)/18.3 (-0.1). I've been sick for the past couple of days. If I could keep up being sick for about a month, I think I'd hit my goal weight! I'm feeling better today, so I'll just keep chugging along and doing this the old-fashioned way. I probably won't get to the gym until Friday (still feeling a bit under the weather).
12/20: 219.2 (+0.6)/18.4 (+0.1). Two things - first, I need to cross a premade meal that I like a lot off my list. My wife doesn't really like it, and I have trouble saving any of it (splitting it for dinner and then lunch). It's the devil, and we need to part ways. Lastly, my gas got shut off yesterday (long story, but apparently they can't transfer the autopayment from my previous location to my house, even though they're the same company). So I was cold. I think I wanted to use this as an excuse for eating all of my lovely premade dinner, but I have to call BS on myself. That dinner has to go!
12/21: 217.8 (-1.4)/ 18.3 (-0.3). Being sick isn't fun, but my appetite sucks, so that's a little bonus. My gas got turned back on yesterday, so at least I wasn't cold. I'm going to try to chill today. I'm still sick, but I felt as good without medicine this morning as I felt at any time yesterday on medicine. After taking medicine, I'm feeling better than I have in days. Still sucky, but better.
