Sad to say, it's the same equation as losing weight, just with a few more calories in the daily allowance. You have to be just as vigilant. You have to change your brain to see success for NOT changing. You can do this if you can lose. So I look forward to reading about your success!12 -
Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I have had great success losing/gaining, but I'm hoping this group helps me be more accountable. I weigh only 1x week on Sundays, so that's when I'll check in. My 2 goals in 2020 are to not let the scale go above 153 and weigh in EVERY Sunday for the WHOLE YEAR. This seems easy to most, but I get lazy and make excuses why I don't need to weigh in and then all of a sudden everything in my closet has shrunk. LOl

I started the year near the top of my maintenance range, brought it back down where I aim for, bounce around my goal for a while, then started what seems to be an annual increase in the fourth quarter. I ended the year with a monthly average closer to my goal weight than I started. I am above that goal weight by about the same amount I am below my average weight for January.
ANNUAL:

The data suggest that this year was a better year than last year, and that last year was better than 2017. I'm sticking to it for 2020, and I will get back near the bottom of my range, probably in the first quarter. I hope you join me in 2020 and continue maintaining your healthy weight. If you are reading this and aren't quite yet to your maintenance goal, I hope you stick around and will get to that goal and start updating here in 2020.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Weighed in the first day of the year, because I will be away from my scale my usual Saturday AM weigh in day. Plus it’s the first day of the year😊
I survived the holidays logging and doing what I need to do, while still enjoying some food related treats, meals out prime rib and a fudge fest!
I am pleased with an average for 2019 at 156 and December’s average of 157. Looking back 2019 has been a solid first calendar year of maintenance. I am considering upping my range 5 pounds as I lowered it at the beginning of 2019 and have never averaged below 155 in a single month.
On to a solid year of maintenance in 2020 and wishing all you all the same.

I had trouble in the autumn keeping my weight over 48 kg but I appear to be fairly consistent now at about 48.5 kg.
Personally, it's been a difficult year, one granddaughter diagnosed with coeliac disease, and my son with a brain tumour. And I had investigations which resulted in the recommendation to have a hysterectomy. Luckily it’s not cancer but I’m having the op in January. A "bumpy year".

Even though I'm not yet in maintenance I thought this weekly check in would be good for accountability as it did for me when I decided to get an online nutrition coach in September with bi-weekly check ins (I've now since stopped it since I'm happy to continue on my own). I am quite pleased with my progress so far and would like to keep up with the momentum. In the last 5 years, I always manage to get to a low weight of 52 - 53 kg but then quickly go back up to 55 - 56 kg as I did not think of "maintaning the weight loss". From this year, my promise to myself is to not let my weight go any higher than it currently is which is 52 kg.4 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Reflecting on the past calendar year, I managed to stay within my maintenance range overall, though it was 1.4 pounds higher than the previous calendar year. I started January 2019 off at 111 lbs, then dropped a little to just below 110 pounds in May. In June, I jumped up to an average of 111.2 for the month and increased to a high of 112.6 in September (this was likely due to a couple of different vacations of 1.5-2 weeks long where I was eating out a lot). From there, I decided to bump up my steps/activity level a bit, as well as try to put a bit more effort into my workouts, and dropped down to 111.3 in December. I managed to keep at the same average weight for December as I did for November, despite eating at a significant surplus for basically the entire month of December due to celebrations, holiday parties, and a mini vacation thrown in.
After some thought, I've decided to increase my maintenance range by a bit to 112.5 lbs on the high end (previously 111.5). I've had some pretty significant weight fluctuations during maintenance especially this past year, and a 3.5 lb range was a pretty narrow range. Practically speaking, this won't affect much, as I'm still planning to work to get back down to 109-110.5 lb, the low-to-middle-ish part of my range, where I look and feel the best. It'll just better reflect the reality that my weight fluctuates quite a bit between all of the eating out and desserts that I enjoy plus the TOM/hormonal fluctuations that occur basically half of each month.
This past week was basically yet another week of going all out with food. I celebrated New Year's with my boyfriend by doing drinks, a fancy Italian dinner, and a champagne toast on NYE, as well as a filling brunch and a fancy homemade surf & turf dinner on New Year's Day. I also bought 8 doughnuts yesterday from this amazing doughnut shop near me and proceeded to eat about half of them between yesterday and today. I'm actually surprised that my average weight for this week was only 111.7 (only up .2 lbs from last week's average)!6 -

It was a pretty successful holiday season, weight-wise. I suspect I'm still holding onto a pound or two of water weight.
It's interesting to see that my December average from this year was three pounds beneath last year. I've lowered my range by a couple of pounds to acknowledge the reality that I feel more comfortable, psychologically, at this lower weight. I'll reassess the range as the year goes forward, particularly if I'm able to get back into more strength training.
