I’m really struggling right now. I don’t feel I should be at work, I think they shouldn’t have come up with a plan for the administration staff to work from home. We are an essential service but I think that’s more the clinical side than the admin side. There are 10 of us that don’t need to be coming into the facility in my opinion. My greatest fear is that I pick something up and take it to our residents. Because of this fear I am not sleeping well and finding it very hard to concentrate at work.
Rodger is doing so well, he is now exercising at home and keeping up with his diet. I’m so proud of him!
I’ll try to do better, I miss you all!
I love you!❤2 -

It's a cloudy, dreary day, and temp probably won't reach 50F if sun doesn't come out. So I decided to delay my virtual 10K race until next week when weather improves. And after longest dog walk lately of just over 5 miles yesterday, I think that's best for me and dog. I'll change clothes and walk shortly after hubby leaves for work soon.🐰Let’s get Hop! Hop! Scale goalsEnd of 2017: 174.6
End of 2018: 189.2
End of 2019: 196.4
End of January: 194.6
End of February: 196.2
Today: 195.4
Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Schedule assessments for Fall 2019; plan out return times. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. PB usernames 6 digits, no 19 or 20s, no birthdates. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri.
5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week - Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals. NOTE: ATTENDED PRE FLEX DAY.
6. Medical: Dentist Apr 30 8 AM but check on meetings and RS. Onco Apr ???. PCP Schedule for July. ObG schedule for October. PCP - allergy shots?
7. Theater: 1984.
8. House: Crawl space repairs. After that - siding? Or perhaps bathroom floor.
9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy new bikes and bike rack for car.
10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
11. Family: Google Hangout.
12. Other: Practice hair braiding with D. Check on appts for drs. Remind D to ask his dad about the table and check with home repair contractors. START BLOGGING AGAIN. 3 posts/week? Create test for MLA format. Create test for infographics and visual information. Therapy exercises: lunges, push-ups, ankle lifts, box jumps, plank. Remember that M does not like surprises! Check dates of classes and update semester plan. She Should Run vision statement. Update standards on board. When to change bulletin board?
WFTY: Progress. Happy birthday to me. I had a student say he thought about something in a different way because of something I shared. That was pretty awesome.6 -

Tough day “at work”. Nearly lost it by 2pm in front of my boss and peers. Everyone arguing and contrary all day long, no one being helpful. It was the end of a hard week. Nowhere near as hard as those in nursing homes (much gratitude to you @Snowflake1968!) or otherwise on the front lines. We are second tier—making the things to help save lives—so I know to be grateful that my “hard” day is about emotions and arguments not physical threat. I got it together after going for a run and finished the day well. Also green for calories. Hope the scale eventually rewards me—it’s been “mean” this week.
Daily habits: track, exercise, journal
Action Plan
1. No alarm wake, pill, walk +squats + dumbbell row, yoga, pill
2. Healthy breakfast

7. Meditate!
8. Prep salads for next 2 lunches

Oh @AJB1014! I’ve been so behind with this group but I’m so glad to have checked back in now you’ve just posted that gorgeous pic. Big congratulations to you. I wish you weren’t having to start this wonderful but terrifying rollercoaster that is parenting in these circumstances. But hopefully you and your family are holed up warm and safe. Hugs x
@Snowflake1968 - huge hug to you. It is really hard when you are scared every day and forcing yourself to go to work when you then have to deal with people who still don’t seem to get it!! I’m dreading being rostered back on to teaching duty (I’ll be going in the the week of 6 April) after nearly two weeks at home. Will feel so guilty sending the kids off to their school while I’m at work but I’m grateful that all the schools are providing this skeleton cover for key worker children so we can help the medics get to work. It sounds like you could work from home though - or surely reduce the numbers of admin staff in the building and take turns?
@PackerFanInGB - I’m sure it’s really tense for you right now. But soon everyone will be where they should be and you will breathe easier. Hang in there!
@mytime6630 - well done on the face masks. What a great use of your talent x
Everyone else - know that I am thinking of you all. I’ve not been posting goals as I just haven’t had the time. But I am running once a day, every day. Trying to be mindful of not grazing while at home, and just really focusing on what’s important right now.
Stay safe everyone xx5 -

@AJB1014 - What a beautiful baby! A little Ray of sunshine on this grey NJ morning!
@maryrobinson40 - Thank you for that beautiful picture of the ocean. So soothing and just what I need today.
I haven't checked in or set goals for a couple of days. I spent the very early hours of Thursday morning setting up my bedroom and bath as a quarantine suite. My husband's building was closed after two employees reported that they were ill, one with a positive test for Covid-19, the other as yet unconfirmed. So I've been riding the anxiety roller coaster and doing my best to keep up with work.
I have an online appointment with one of my students this morning and will try to catch up with grading and some chores on this rainy day. I'll check in with my mom and my kids, fix some healthy meals, and remind myself to breathe.
Keeping you all in my thoughts today as we struggle through these difficult times. Take care of yourselves3 -

Yesterday was a killer day!
It's been sunny here the last few days it's a bit colder today but yesterday was well nice!
So we did some gardening bear in mind and 28 years old and never done any proper gatdnening in my life. I've never mowed a lawn lol!
But anyway, yesterday we levelled the grass and threw away any excess soil (which was quite a lot)
The problem with was we've left our shovel at Ash's mums. So barehanded I picked up all the soil and threw it in the garden bin. After 5 mins my back was hurting so instead of bending down, I squatted down to keep my back straight.
Ohhhhh my god, my legs today lmfao!!!
We also trimmed all the hedges and bushes in our front garden, we didn't have any electric hedge strimmers so we had to use.. them things lmao. I can't remember what they're called 😣 They're like giant scissors though? (If someone can remember the name then comment lmao because my brain is failing me right now)
And then we thought we would now the grass. Mowers packed up so we had to use the grass edge strimmers... for the whole garden. Then rake all the cut grass.
So yeah.
Feeling the burn!!
I don't know how I did calorie wise, ive not been logging. But I suppose I did okay6 -
@Faebert - are your schools opening for essential worker children only? Our schools are closed until September. They closed them about 3 weeks ago and didn’t even try doing the 2 week thing just closed indefinitely.
1 -
@Kuhl50 - thank you for continuing to work. I think there is an underlying stress that we’re not even aware of and it’s causing a lot of emotions in people. It’s a whole new world that none of us is prepared for.1
-
Wow...I'm ten pages behind! It's my own fault! Lol. I've been away for a while. Tbh, there hasn't really been a reason either. I've been staying away from social media and the news for the most part. Matt's been keeping up with the latest Covid-19 news in our state and it is not encouraging. And pretty much everything in our state has shut down. This is going to be a blow to small businesses and service workers. But that is all I am going to say on the matter.
Matt has been out of work for the last week but is still getting paid, thank goodness. I have been fighting with the insurance company about my disability because our outsourced HR company didn't send them the correct form. Then they had the wrong last day of work on file so they, in turn, had to email my company's HR dept to verify the date. I have documentation from my doctor that states the correct last day of work and the date of my surgery if they want to fight me about it. When I called the insurance company on Wednesday I made sure that woman CCed me on the email she sent to the HR dept so I've been kept up to date. Now I'm just waiting on the reply from my HR dept with the verified date. So hopefully she'll send that reply on Monday and then this ball can get rolling again.
My next follow up appt from my surgery is on Tuesday. I should be able to get my return to work paperwork signed then. So then I can sign up for unemployment and get more money that way. Tbh, with Matt getting paid and being able to defer some of our bills we may actually make out ahead with all of this. We'll be able to pay the electric bill which has been hanging over our heads and get some money into savings. Thank you, Lord!
Okay, I don't really have many things on my to-do list but I can make a small list.
JFT, 3/28/20

Yes @snowflake1968 we are staying open for key worker and vulnerable children only through this whole thing, so even through what would normally be school holidays. With numbers so low, it’s hoped that we can maintain distancing a little and try and keep everyone safe. But thankfully children seem to deal pretty well with this virus so it’s about staff being sensible too.2 -

WOKE UP LATE RUSHED TO TAKE PHILLIP TO WORK IN MY NIGHT SHIRT AND SHORTS. I LITERALLY JUMPED UP FROM A DEEP SLEEP. RAN TO THE BATHROOM TO TINKLE, WIPED WASHED HANDS 3 TIMES STEPPED INTO MY SNEAKERS, GRABBED MY PURSE, KEYS, BOTTLE OF WATER, RAN OUT THE DOOR TO THE CAR. WENT TO PICK HIM UP STILL FOGGY IN THE HEAD.
PHILLIP"WHAT NO SWEATS TODAY?"
ME 😳 😒 I was running late to come get you
PHILLIP 😀
Me Whatever Phillip (looking straight ahead with a 😯😬) OMG I forgot to harness the girls. Phillip noticed that part too and kept elbowing me all the way to his job just so he could watch them "fight"... Color me embarrassed. But after he got out and I came to myself... I burst out laughing at myself. We are separated... But the funny is I felt like I had just been caught by my parents or something. This man has spent 20 years seeing my unmentionables and I felt like he shouldn't be looking and even more emotional behind the fact that I didn't come out of the house fully put together. Oh Mary. Really. I said to myself. Then I started laughing for talking to myself.
I'm sure none of you have felt like a deer in headlights... Lol7 -

Productive quiet day. Went through clothes, donated a bunch, put away a bunch in higher size, pulled out a bunch that are starting to fit. “Shopping in my closet”. Realizing that I’ve been doing sort of the same things for so long that my body has probably gotten too efficient and I need to switch things up to get off this plateau. Of course stress and worry doesn’t help!

Yesterday was a pretty good day... calories stayed in check... got projects done.. I had to stop a hour into my trainer session...didn’t have the motivation.. then felt guilty so decided to go out and ride my mountain bike. Ended up having a very nice ride and burned a bunch more calories. Happy to say if and when the COVID 19 passes I am set to have a very nice racing season. Assuming we have one.
Goals for Sunday
Sufferfest
Short outdoor ride
Vacuum cars
Get some groceries

No more than 2 beers. Wasn’t gonna allow that at all but Sara wants me to grill tonight and well just like vacuuming and alcohol I’m pretty sure it’s the law that there must be beer when the grill is in use.
