Off to a great start! Yes, the first pounds are normally just water weight and the sort, but still-- the numbers are going down on the scale, I'm exercising every day, and I'm faithfully keeping to my BMR calories every day. So I'm sure some of that weight in there isn't just water weight. Also, about 12 of these pounds came upon me within the past 4 weeks. So if they piled on that fast, they will come off that fast, too. I know a time will come when the scale will start struggling and fluctuating a bit, but that's all right by me. It means then that I'm in the fat burning/inches losing territory anyway, so it's all good!

FEBRUARY TOTAL LOSS -
As predicted due to having done this so many times in the past, the time has come! The water weight/bowels have finally evened out, and now I'm in the fat weight loss zone. This is the usual pattern for me when it comes to weight loss (when I weigh myself daily): I will lose a pound, gain back half a pound the next day, then lose 1 more pound the next day, and so forth. So it's kinda like two steps forward, one step back. And all this reflects is normal fluctuations in water weight, bowels, hormones, and muscle mass increasing while fat cells are shrinking.
Therefore, most likely I'll either stay the same tomorrow, or lose weight. If I were to gain, then I'd simply have to readjust my BMR calories and do more exercise, that's all. But when this happens, I keep to my lowest weight BMR and do not adjust upwards for calories. I keep knocking off the calories as I go down, even if I go up a pound or two in the meantime.
So even though it may seem a bit discouraging to do in most peoples' eyes, it's actually good for me to log daily with the weight fluctuations. It helps me to gather data on trends concerning my weight loss, and helps to diagnosis any issues if I get to a plateau. And, most importantly, it keeps me motivated, thus helping me to stay aware and accountable when it comes to logging my food and activity.
