Keeping at it

Looking for some inspiration. So many ways to try to lose weight. Yet we are more overweight than ever...what have you done that works?

Food scale, MFP calorie goal, increasing NEAT (there's a great thread here about that), and this time, I've added the gym... I lost 50 lbs last time with just the food scale and calorie goal.

You are on the right track. There are many ways to lose weight. All of the credible ways have a small percentage of success stories. What worked for those small percentage of people failed to work for the majority of people who also tried that program or diet. So the answer is not external but internal. What will work for you?

What is not likely to work is a drastic change to how you like to live. Many people think it is required to change a significant amount to start losing weight but that just makes you start craving what you know to be normal. I suggest trying nudge your normal instead of obliterating it. Read this thread:

For you to lose weight you need to create an energy deficit within your body. When this happens your body is forced to call upon stored energy to meet the demand of keeping you alive and moving. This results in weight loss. In other words eat less than you use.

Since all you need to do is eat less you can ditch all of the other prerequisites that seem to always go with losing weight like eating healthy and exercising. It is a good idea to eventually eat in a nutritionally balanced way but that can be added later. It is also a good idea to exercise but do not think that you have to be miserable and sweaty just to lose weight. You can do exercise for improved fitness and leave weight loss to eating less.

There are multiples, I think, but this is one, dunno whether it's the great one ;) :
