Hey all.
So cake porn first:
Video of the cake pour on YouTube cause I don't know how to load video here, or even if you can! Sorry about portrait, but trying to pour and video at the same time in landscape wasn't going to happen! Also, you get to hear my lovely kiwi accent lol. My husband informs me that's not exactly how I sound but who knows lol.
Pics of completed cake:
Because how long it took to pour, it ended up a little lumpy but its beautiful and shiny, and I don't care cause the kids had fun pouring it, and that's way more important than a insta perfect cake. Also the colours are more under the sea than frozen, again because I don't have the right gwl colouring due to the c word, and our supermarkets stock basics at best. And the proper cake places aren't open or delivering, due to level 4 lock down. Sigh.
And just to tease you all, I'll put up a cutting pic later, as we aren't cutting it till after lunch.
Wonderful pics and a super video!!!
I agree. Love the kids helping too!2 -
Final cake pic
The mirror glaze was gross but the rest was great. Kids LOVE it, and that's all that matters6 -

@katharmonic - what a terrible experience with Stella! Did the lady at least apologize? I wonder if all the dogs are wound up from being inside so much?
My husband got attacked/chased by the dog next door today too. Same dog that bit me last fall. He said he was going to try to pick Milo up when the owner came out. All I could think was that would be a really great way to get bitten.
@Avidkeo - the video was awesome and the kids sound so cute! Love their excitement! You don't sound at all as I imagined (not sure what I imagined honestly) but your accent is great! Love the finished cake too, the snow flakes came out so nice and are beautiful!2 -
Thanks guys!
Jessica had a wonderful day, the cake was the highlight according to her! I'm exhausted now. Spent most of today doing what they wanted. Whew.3 -
Sorry I hve been absent for the last week or so. I have some work and need to nail it. Dealing with people in the US and Australia during their working day is taking the priority and a lot of odd hours. Stay safe and keep smiling 😊4

@Scott6255 I wish for a speedy recovery for your whole family. I do agree with you in that I think most of us have been infected and are just asymptomatic.
@Avidkeo Your cake turned out awesome!
I have managed to stay on track with getting in 2-3 miles each night after work. I’m ready for my new shoes to get here, but they haven’t shipped yet. 😕 Not much else to report except work, work, work, work, work...4 -
Oh yuck @katharmonic! Glad everyone is okay!0

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about her voice, but I have no idea why. I mean it is not like we had anything to base it on before this. Probably just cause I am American and used to American speech sounds.

@Avidkeo That cake came out beautiful! I used to have a kiwi coworker so your voice wasn’t a surprise to me, but I just love listening to little kids with accents! My mom hardly has any accent today but I have a recording of her singing as a child and her southern accent was hilarious.
@katharmonic Yikes. I feel bad for all the frustrated doggies, this must be very confusing for them. The people just all of a sudden got weird.
Today was the third race in the Run the 901 challenge, 8k. My goal pace was 10 minute miles and my husband and I did exactly 9:59 so that worked out okay. I could have wished it felt a little easier though! Although the temp was on the warm side, 77, and that was part of it. Most of our run was in the shade and there was a little breeze so it was pleasant despite being warm. We ran the railroad access road two and a half times to get 5 miles, then walked over to the horse show grounds and wandered around the empty rings and stables. Pretty sure we’re not supposed to be there, but we didn’t see any signs or security, so it made an interesting place to walk. I spent many many hours there as a teenager.
I like doing local research so I looked up the area we’ve been running on some historical maps. It turns out our little two mile access road has been there much longer than almost all the other roads in Germantown. The railroad itself has been there since before the Civil War! It’s fun to think about all the people who have traveled a road you’re running.4 -
Fantastic cake @Avidkeo - glad Jessica had a good time.
Sounds stressful with Stella @katharmonic - glad all ok now.
Good to see you @TheMrWobbly - hope the work stress passes soon.
I thought I was at 78.2 April miles this morning when i went out for my run and, in the interests of neatness, planned to do 3.8 miles to even out at 82. Then I got back with a little time to spare so said, sod it I will do a full 4 miles. Got home and checked the Garmin and found out I had been on 78.8! Should have gone back out for the .2m but I decided I was in danger of descending into madness! Still on track for my best monthly mileage ever and I’m excited! There’s a craze here in the UK to run 5k and then donate £5 to the NHS charity then nominate 5 friends on social media. I’m thinking if I can afford it I will donate the amount of miles I run this month in pounds as a nice way to mark the milestone.

@Avidkeo Loved the video and how the cake turned out. It looks awesome and the kids had such a great time helping. You are awesome! Happy Birthday to Jessica!!
@rheddmobile Great run and sounds like a nice day too with the walk. I like local history too. My aunt owns a house here in E. TN that was part of the underground railroad. Lots of secret hiding spaces in the walls and under the floors.
@Faebert Nice running and a great idea about the charity. I'll show my ignorance though...what is the NHS?

Sunny, frosty, low 30s F with a nasty little wind from the northwest this morning. Never run well after a rest day and today was no exception. Legs, hips, and back were all stiff, even after my leg swinging warmups.

Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020K in 2020

Catching up on the thread:
@Scott6255 I’m so sorry to hear that, take care of yourself and your family. It really is very frustrating, like you said, you just don’t know unless you get tested. Knowing if you have had it and are well now would probably ease a lot of minds. It’s very difficult.
@kgirlhart I love the courthouse all lit up. Skip is graduating (well was) in May from community college and it meant so much to her to get in enough credits to graduate before she transferred even though she didn’t need to. They are pushing graduation out to August but I think it’s the same weekend as her move in at her 4 year school. She has her gown so we are going to go over to the school and take pictures at least. My friend has been working and working to get his master’s degree while teaching full time and coaching 4 sports teams and his graduation on 5/1 was cancelled, he’s just heartbroken.
@Camaramandy648 I think it’s awesome to inspire yourself!! I’m lucky to live in a big running community, the support here is incredible. Lots of races to pick from within 20 miles, beautiful trails and greenways to run on. It’s just super.
@Caramandy648 and @janejellyroll you are so right about the same situation being so different for people. I was able to work at the office up to a few weeks ago, now I’m home going on week 3. I kinda like it but also like being in the office. I have an almost 20 year daughter who lives with me and she is having a harder time staying put, however, her trips out consist of weekly food shopping for me so we both are not in the store and drive thrus for lunch or dinner. No friends, no shopping, she runs but that’s it, otherwise in the house. Her boyfriend is in the military so thankfully we don’t have to deal with “oh my gosh I’ll die if I don’t see my love” ha ha. I have friends who allow their teens to go and see friends or have small groups of friends to the house. We are lucky I’m working at my full pay and her job told her to file for unemployment since they cut her hours so much (from 25 a week to 4 at most), her unemployment is going to be in one week what she was making in almost a whole month with the $600 kick in. I wish they had a place that said “no don’t send me the $600 I don’t need it” on the form. My friend’s place is paying her $200 a week because they had to lay her off, I said tell them no thank you and file they are not doing you, single mom of 2 any favors. Sorry I digress, such strange times. @Caramandy648 I’m sorry your sister feels that way, I have relatives who would have a stroke if I told them what I really think about things ha ha. We agree to disagree.
@shanaber love what you posted, it’s the truth. I didn’t know about Hobbs, we’ll be keeping in our prayers that sweet puppy.
@Avidkeo I like cake, it’s beautiful. Are we going to see you on the cooking channel soon?
My neighbors dog came after me this morning, honestly their first dog was out of control and it was so peaceful after he died (I hate to say that), then they got a boxer who will charge you. She’s lucky he stopped a few feet in front of me this morning or I would have sprayed him with my mace. She (the dog) was barking insanely coming at me in full charge. I went in the house for a few minutes and came out with Macy (the worlds sweetest labradoodle) and that damn thing came flying up the street again. I put Macy in the house and was screaming, I’m sure I woke up the whole neighborhood, if you can’t control that *kitten* dog keep it in the house. Ha ha
@rheddmobile great picture.

@Avidkeo I LOVE your video! And the cake! You are phenomenal.
And.... can I just say I love your accent? I live in the US and where I am at, everyone is SO southern. It is beyond me, honestly. But your accent. And the kids. I just love it. And that cake is gorgeous and now I really want some cake....1
