Contrary to popular belief, wearing a mask does not prevent or mitigate the Coronavirus9
-
People wearing masks but constantly adjusting and pulling (READ: TOUCHING!!!) the front of the mask
And you're just sitting in your car thinking, "I'm gonna die, huh."3 -
Yes. They know it.4

I'm just happy I can wear a mask now and it's doesn't look weird.6

Can we all agree there is no such things as a civil war? Hhhmmmm2

Perhaps the requiring of one to wear a mask is slightly beneficial in that some protection is better than none. I think it also gives the general public a since of comfort to see others wearing a mask.4

Meant to be more of a lighthearted post like If the #2
Pencil is so popular why is it still number two? Hhmmmm
My bad on the original hhmmmm

I'll wear one to make others comfortable.
That being said, if I'm around someone not wearing a mask, it doesn't bother me in the least.
Freedom of choice, right?
I read where some folks were irate that Costco was requiring all customers to wear masks when entering the store. My take, if you don't like their rules, don't shop there. I went to Costco on Monday. I put on a mask and when I entered the front doors, I wore in while in their store and removed it as I walked back outside.
It's the same as dining at a restaurant or club with a dress code, right?
If you don't like it, don't frequent that particular business.9 -
just really hope that we can all remember, for the sake of the children, that you're pretty safe from covid19 at grocery, liquor stores and gas stations.
walmart, home depot, and take-out diners- those are all good too.
All other places are unsafe and should be avoided at all cost.
also paper money is still safe

I'm now the minority not wearing a mask and I do feel bad now when I go out in public. I've tried. Then I hyperventilate.5

I went to Costco (as mention in a post above) and everyone was wearing masks.
After Costco a visit to Safeway was in order and probably only 20% of the folks shopping were wearing masks.
Then I travel to Target and about 50% (or more) were wearing masks.
It probably just depends on when you are in any given state or community and maybe event the time of day when you're there.
I see most older people wearing them & most young people not wearing them.0 -

What he said.
Masks protect other people from contamination by the wearer more than they protect the wearer. I wore one (and gloves) when I was setting up my dad's new TV because he's 81 and frail and very high risk. I'm working in an office with a whole bunch of people who may or may not be practising social distancing, so I am potentially carrying the virus unknowingly. If we had more than 8 (known, identified) active cases in our community, I'd wear one in public places out of consideration for others.0 -
Only mandatory for public shopping in my state . Ie. Grocery stores etc.
My work....I don't wear one...only handfull people are in the office at a time.. we rotate.. split into two groups... this week I'm in the office.. next week.. working at home.1 -

Here its probably 70% wear them. That # increases daily. Especially as state # s in virus decrease but where I'm at all of a sudden became a hot spot.
So. If I have to go out, aside from a run, I will do the mask. Because it's better to do it than not.0 -
There are a lot of unknowns however, i side with the doctors. I’m a germ freak to begin with, so I prefer not to smell your breath 😷. The good news is most peolple wil practice better hygiene and social distance practices. Amen.0

the numbers of the infected are going up, because we are doing more testing.
it's just that we now know how many people are infected, so it's always been an issue of infected vs. known infected.
Nate Silver had an interesting (and quite logical) article on this topic.1 -
The issue here is half of us are doing our part in following the federal guidelines, and I would argue taking common sense messaures to protect ourselves and the most
vulnerable. The other half thinks about in a way that impacts themselves only!2 -

This is true. Where I'm at is more rural. So the spike may be in those being tested NOW. In defense of state. They are encouraging all to get tested regardless at this point. Whether that happens...who knows...I had a friend turned away from testing early on because of limits on tests available...0 -

The whole lockdown / quarantine needs to be looked at in the macro. It's a challenge to weigh the benefits of the lockdown in regards to the virus and it's spreading versus the other ramifications of having the economy and society shuttered for an extended length of time.
I'm not even talking about the financial loss. I'm more concerned with the mental health and abuse issues that could be triggered by an extended lockdown. It makes sense to focus first and foremost on the most vulnerable.7 -
I’m totally ready to reengage, I can’t wait! I agree it’s not an easy balancing act but we are still in “Health crisis” mode and the more we do our part, the faster we can resume to some form of normalcy? Again, I agree the worst of this may be in the aftermath, but to see folks so careless in public (at this time) frustrates the heck out of me. It’s okay for them -not for everyone! I do realize geography of this matters but I wonder if people realize how contagious this virus is? To many many unknowns...3

We should circle the wagons when it comes to nursing homes and give the mental health community all possible support.
It's the depressed, the addicts and the aged that concern me most.5 -

I agree with this 💯

On another note I’m trying to figure out why the guy who was using a pair of panties as a face mask at the hospital chose that pair? Should I have asked if I could take a picture? Did he not do this for the attention anyway? So many questions and I froze. 🤦🏻♀️4
