Day three of keto

I'm on day three of keto and to say I'm starving is an understatement. I feel like my body is missing the higher carb intake. I'm trying my best to stick to 5% carbs but it's been more like 10-15%. I have been eating really well and sticking within my calorie limit. Is it normal to feel this hungry after a few days? I felt fantastic the first 2 days. Have I gone wrong somewhere?

Hey Madam! Have you tried FASTING. I feel that knowing that I won't eat until a certain time, helps me forget and not think about my next meal. 😉1 -
I've tried fasting in the past and I didn't really like it. I found I was feeling lightheaded a few hours I was due to eat. Not great when your doing a yard duty with kids in school. I thought a low carb diet would be good for my body type. I'll stick it out. I did have a crap sleep in the night. Maybe that's the reason? I don't know 🤷♀️1

🤣😂 From what you're saying, I'd still recommend FASTING but during your eating period, have enough carbs to sustain you. I have changed my pasta to whole-wheat (brown) because it takes longer to digest. X-1 -
Thanks.0

Please don't listen to Neil. He's telling a lot of quack. Bodytypes have been debunked for ages. They were created to basically to define people as more or less intelligent, morally sound or not, and their potential for future achievements. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotype_and_constitutional_psychology
Also, keto is not for everyone. It's completely individual if someone thrives on a diet high in fat, or in protein, or in carbs. If you don't feel well on a high fat diet then don't do it. Chose a style of eating that you want to eat for the rest of your life, and not just for losing weight because during weightloss you also learn how much to eat and what keeps you full. If you skip this step you're very likely to regain once you've reach your weight goal as you've learned nothing for maintenance.11 -

🤣😂 You got your info from Wikapedia 🤦🏻♂️.
I'm not even going to pose an argument. Good luck.2 -
I have good news and bad news for you. Bad news is that if you're hungrier on keto, that won't change. I tried keto 3 times, twice for 3 weeks and once for one week, and was extremely hungry throughout every single day. I even gained weight once because I had to eat more to feel full and couldn't stay under my maintenance calories. Not every kind of diet works for everyone.
Now the good news: you don't have to do keto, and it's not superior for weight loss all things equal. There are no weight loss benefits to keto except when keto makes it easier to stick to your calories (which in your case it doesn't). I know for a fact I need starches to feel full, so I eat starches and it makes sticking to calories much easier. Eat however you enjoy eating and keep track of your calories. If you do that consistently enough you'll get where you want to be.
Edit and P.S:
Don't overcomplicate things. No, you don't need to fast (unless it makes dieting easier for you). You don't need any somatypes or preset rules (I weighed over 300 pounds and now I don't, I ate and still eat chocolate). When it comes to weight loss, you only need to pay attention to two things: your calories averaging to a deficit, and your chosen way of eating needs to be sustainable enough so you don't quit too early. You want to be able to diet long enough to reach your goal weight, at least. Even better if you're acquiring skills and habits that will be useful in maintenance.11 -

Thanks buddy. It's just Wikipedia is a source which can be edited easily state whatever you like. All I was gonna do was provide info through my personal experience such as: Body types, what's your blood type etc.0 -

FASTING gives me the guide line I need to monitor my diet. Basically it stops me snacking in the evening. I could just as easily say I don't eat between meals. But with the hundreds of diets out there. This seems to work for me.1 -

Yes, that's you. But you can't and should not assume everyone is the same. Some people enjoy fasting. Others don't. Personally, my blood pressure crashes so badly and I get dizzy and confused if I don't eat something every 2-3 hours.6 -

I didn't assume anything. I have my personal view. As did you.1 -
OP, it sounds as if keto is not a great fit for you. It's not for everyone and, fortunately, there is no "one style fits all" diet. There is also no metabolic advantage to keto for fat loss. This has been shown in a prepoderance of studies. It does help some with appetite suppression which in turn helps them to stay within their calorie targets but some folks find the same is true on a lower carb, non keto, style diet keeping carbs somewhere between 100gr and 150gr.7

I'm not disappointed, I just don't trust a site that can be influenced so easily.1

Somatotypes are just the 1940s version of a poorly sourced Wikipedia article. A guy made up some stuff, created some fancy new words to go with it, and painted it with a veneer of scientific authority. There's no basis for it.
Wikipedia does require critical evaluation skills, but they're the same skills we should be bringing to *everything* we read, including attempts by psychologists to match human body types to personality traits and tendencies for criminal behavior (which is what Sheldon was doing when he invented this "theory").
Why would you balk at Wikipedia, which has a fairly rigorous review and edit process (especially for higher traffic articles) and swallow Sheldon's pseudoscience?11 -
What has worked for me is the fasting. I fast from 8:00 PM and I skip breakfast and start eating at 1200. This 8 hour period of eating has served me well to keep me in a calorie deficit. That's the key is to be in a calorie deficit if you are wanting to lose some unwanted weight.
Its been my own experience that a low carb program or life style is by far the fastest way to drop weight, outside of weight loss it has proven for me to give me the energy to rock the day. I found the opposite of what you are experiencing, I found that I was so hungry on a calorie counting program, the high fats in Keto suppress my appetite for the day. It is hard to get over the addictions of sugar, lots of people cant stand the keto flue at the beginning. Some tips:- Drink lots of water.
- Watch some great video's on YouTube to get some experience as well as get excited about your health.
- Keep plugged into great support networks like this for continued support.

Good news, @madamrooroo ! You don't have to do keto to lose weight. If it doesn't work for you, try something else! I prefer just counting calories. I can eat anything I like as long as I stay within my calorie deficit. I've found I need a good mix of carbs, proteins, fats and fiber to make me feel full and basic calorie counting lets me do that best.

Extensive study data does not support your contention bolded above. Your experience is anecdotal and anecdotes-/= data. Also, some experience the appetite suppression benefits, some do not. And, while there may be some mental attachments to sugar, it is pretty well documented that there is not actual physical addiction, though it is trendy to claim that these days.
Other than initial water weight, there is no fat loss benefit for keto over any other form of calorie restriction. See the attached meta-analysis of 32 controlled studies and 563 subjects.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5568065/
From the meta-analysis.the rate of body fat change between diets with the pooled weighted mean difference of 16 g/d (P <.0001) greater body fat loss in favor of the lower fat diets. These results are in the opposite direction to the predictions of the carbohydrate-insulin model, but the effect sizes are so small as to be physiologically meaningless. In other words, for all practical purposes “a calorie is a calorie” when it comes to body fat and energy expenditure differences between controlled isocaloric diets varying in the ratio of carbohydrate to fat.

I haven't taken the time to read everything to be honest. I'm not really interested.
Somebody asked for advise. I gave mine. Somebody didn't like it and it's gone on from there 😂🤣1 -

It's not that people took a dislike to it, it's just that advice based on somatotypes isn't helpful as it isn't based in reality. It's confusing to me that you're not interested in this discussion. If I thought I was giving reality-based advice and someone told me that I was factually incorrect, I'd be very interested to learn why they thought it was wrong. Either I'm going to learn something and be a more informed person (and give better advice in the future) or I'm going to have the opportunity to correct their misunderstanding. It's a win/win, IMO. But just deciding I wasn't interested in whether or not it was right? I can't identify.14 -

I wasn't interested to start with, because of the way that person had approached the situation. I was only looking to give my personal opinion on a particular subject. I would normally be interested in learning further, I'm always open to opinion or to learn further. But not in the lazy way this person had put it.
This person nor the original person has been apart of this. So since it doesn't educate them further (as this has turned into an argument/debate. I'll discontinue. Thanks for taking the time.1
