Machka, I make tea by pouring hot water over a tea bag in a mug and letting it steep for 3 to 5 minutes while I do something else. I squeeze out the teabag, add a packet of Stevia/monk fruit sweetener, stir and drink. That tea mix in the article made with instant tea, Tang, plus a bunch of other stuff was very popular several years ago. People called it Russian Tea and gave it as a Christmas gift along with a mug. It was ok as a really sweet, hot drink, but not what I would consider tea and certainly not anything I would waste calories on drinking now.2

(((Allie))) You are loveable and valuable. Don’t forget it! Some males in your life need Pip’s boot. :grumble:
Lisa: We have had an uptick in Oregon. Our county is still in pretty good shape but there has been a positive CoVid diagnosis after weeks of no worries. :ohwell:
Heather: I am delighted that you were able to hold your tongue in a conversation with your difficult friend. She seems to be diverting as much money from her icky DH as possible for her benefit and the benefit of her children. Good for her, and for her children.
I took my dog to the Vet over the weekend because he had a sore on his backside. The sore is a cancerous tumor. The vet says that we need to let it mature, and when it has reached the right point he will surgically remove it and things will be fine. I hope this will work out as the vet outlined. Our little guy doesn’t have much energy these days and is spending quite a bit of time sleeping. I trust Doctor F and we’ll take things a day at a time.

Well im home and relaxing... Faith fell ,the 3rd time this week. She lies down so much she no longer has strength in her legs and feet..she also has drop foot..
Because of the Trust she is not allowed to go into a nursing home and will have home care until she passes. Jean said she is used to it..
Not me when a 86 yr old person falls thats scary.. took more than 1/2 hr to get her back on her bed and of course she was exhausted..
The least they can do it get her a small bed rail so she has something to hold.onto..
Didnt sleep great last night and if i go to sleep now it will early early rise..

Did Billy’s Boot Camp Blaster Ball Workout DVD. Not bad. Think I’ll keep it for now. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Firm Super Charged DVD. Another new one so we shall see how it goes.
It’s so hard not to say anything to Jess about her weight, that’s why I say it here. Gotta get it off my chest, and you guys are the lucky recipients.
Now how to motivate Vince to do something that to me is important but not important to him? Of course Jess doesn’t do things like go thru boxes that I have, I really want her to make the determination of what to do. I suspect most of those things will go in recycling, but there may be things that she wants. She doesn’t want to go thru them with me, she’d prefer to talk on the phone. So maybe what I need to do is just throw it all out. Then, when she asks me for something, I’ll just tell her that if it was in one of the boxes, I threw it out. Same thing for these VHS tapes we have from Vince’s father. For YEARS I’ve been asking him to go thru them. I’ve tried not saying anything to him – doesn’t get done. I’ve tried saying something to him – doesn’t get done. I’ve tried putting them in front of him – doesn’t get done. I’ve gone thru them and weeded out things like pirated copies of movies hoping that he’d get the hint. No such luck. So I’m thinking that I’ll ask him if he’d just like me to throw them all out. There might be something he wants, but it’s not important to me, so it’ll go in the trash. I’m going to ask him if he wants me to throw them out because I will. I’m sick of looking at them on the floor. Why should Jess do something that’s important to me when the example is that if it’s not important to her (even at the moment) I guess it’s not important. Daddy doesn’t do a lot of things that mom asks him to do. Update: I did, and he told me that he's going to take them downstairs to look at. But they're still upstairs. Next, I give him a deadline of when they need to be taken care of or I'll throw them out.
The weather has been weird today. One minute the sun is shining, the next there is a downpour. Don’t know if I can go for my walk or not. Should check the weather website.
Got a notice that the entire board of our HOA is resigning. I understand…most of the board has been a member for 10 years. But I think it should be a staggered leaving for continuity’s sake. Also, and this I agree with, they recommend there be 2 year terms. So what happens in two years? The entire board changes? To me, there needs to be some continuity. But who am I? Wonder what’ll happen if no one comes forward for president. Maybe Vince will be treasurer, I don’t know. I’m not going to push him. He volunteered to be Newcomer’s treasurer, so since this is really less work that Newcomers maybe he’ll consider it, I don’t know
Allie – if you lift Faith to get her back in bed, you take care of YOUR back. A friend of mine who is a nurse has back problems now from lifting patients.
Love, love, love those mug shots.
Was making a scarf for a friend but for some reason it never came out straight. I took it apart three times. So this time I just took it out for good. Now to think of something else to make. Something fairly simple. I know for Vince’s 50th birthday I made him a black shawl. I remember it was a pretty simple pattern. I thought I had it written down somewhere but for the life of me, I can’t find it. Wait a minute….I just thought of one other place it might be. Will check that out.

Allie - I agree she should have a bed rail. Does she use a walker or wheelchair? Here in Alberta if you feel a senior is being mistreated you are legally required to report it. If they aren’t doing anything to help prevent the falls that has to be mistreatment.
Karen- just love the mug shots.
Heather - I would love to own one home, never mind 6!
Thank you for the compliments on my daughters command centre.

KJ: I also drink instant coffee (and tea) with soy milk and stevia. When I was a child my mother would sometimes put a little Camp coffee in our warm milk as a treat, so I like my coffee white.2

HOA- Can’t stand them. Had bad experiences in the past y only 1 good experience. The good experience was a low dollar HOA that did not force home owners to join did not care what homes look like (which helps cause if sick can’t cut the grass the last thing you want is trouble that week or month healing up from emergency surgery ). Even then last I heard the good ones members ages out the people who took over stole money used their power to harass anyone who crossed them. I rather live in a nice neighborhood with my own rules so I can hang my flag up y have our Navy bumper stickers y kids drawing with chalk on the sidewalks giggling 🤭. Hubby works hard usually our grass is super low cut folks cut to keep up with him. When he can’t do it nice to not worry about anyone else’s opinion.Think since moving in the grass has been medium high twice rest of the time super low. Had a friend forced to sell her home when the HOA fees got too steep was up to $100 on her fixed income as a widow woman it was unmanageable. She moved to a non-HOA in the end but had trouble selling her home many people feel like me about it.

Rita - how are you feeling?
Amber - when we moved to NC our realtor couldn't understand why Vince was so adamant about no HOA. This one is VERY loose, VERY. I can't remember the last time we had a neighborhood meeting. Then Vince sent our realtor some articles and she understood. Like there was this one lady who lived in an HOA development. One of their requirements was that the only flag you could fly was a US flag. Well, her son was in the Marines and she flew their flag. Do you know the HOA fined her for it? (OK, you can stop laughing now)

Michele- You know I can’t stop laughing lol. Realtor was showing us properties ignored our no HOA request (we went with another realtor in the end). The house had a skylight (bad roof lol 😂 could see the sky a huge crack bad foundation was obvious) . We walk out a strict HOA nutcase was yelling about our Navy sticker on the truck. I looked them straight in the eye said we haven’t even bought a house yet! My Truck My Buisness!!
Lol they shrugging away told the realtor they wouldn’t approve of us. Lol 😂 same to you toots!! 😂. She kept showing us homes like that. The good HOA I lived at the homes were impossible to sell they were desperate not to scare folks off yet.Had it’s own store to fire department even was mobile homes in the deep deep country side so far off it took 40minutes for police to reach you if you called or an ambulance then an 2hour drive to a hospital. They finally had a life flight helicopter 🚁 when we moved but it was high dollar 💵 so no one wanted to use it.

Allie, my mom had MS and fell quite a bit. They were able to get a lift system from the MS Society (I think it was them anyway). It was pretty simple, had a blanket like thing that you put on the floor sort of beside the person, got them rolled onto it and then the four corners hooked into a pulley type system so that neither the lifter or the liftee got hurt. Maybe Sean and Jean should look into something like that for Faith. I think it would be a LOT better for everybody concerned! The Red Cross is also a place that may do some equipment rental or loans.
I have only been reading the past few days, too tired to do much commenting. Official WI day was yesterday, my eating had been a bit off the rails so I did gain. Pretty sure most of it was water, as I had some pretty salt intensive meals, but..... Anyway, that didn't do anything to encourage me to eat properly, so yesterday was a bit of a disaster. Today was a bit better, baby steps! I actually got out for a good walk today too, which was something that didn't happen yesterday. We got hit by a good rain storm, made the walk today more pleasant, no dust in my face from the bikes going past!
Our grandson turned 4 today and we were invited over for dinner. Our provincial health officer has relaxed the restrictions a bit, so small, family gatherings are now permitted and I got HUGS!!!! I missed hugging that kid! It was a pleasant evening, but I'm glad to be home, showered and ready for bed. Work tomorrow, my plan is to get up early and go for a bike ride, then drive to work. I do like riding my bike to work, but with working til 6 it means I'm not home til 7, so not eating dinner til 8.... yuck. I figure I can get a good bike ride in (45 - 60 min) and that plus all the walking that I normally do at work should burn a few calories and hopefully get me back on track.
So many posts I wanted to comment on, but of course I don't remember any of them now.
I know several of you are going thru some difficult times, please know that you are in my thoughts. I wish I were closer to a lot of you so that I could offer real help!
Okay, enough of my novel for now. Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies! Oh and please keep those baby pics coming! Levi and his chubby little cheeks, and Lilly's mug shots! Oh my!!

My now-retired plumber Pete is from the UK. He made the mistake of accepting my offer for a cup of tea one day. I'm pretty sure he took one sip, then discreetly poured it out, returning the cup with a polite "thank you". We were having a lot of plumbing work done at the time, so he was at our home frequently. Every time he came I would bring him a cup of tea, which he would politely accept. A couple of times he forgot to empty the cup & return it & I would find a full cup of tea. So I said, "the tea's no good, is it?" And he got a pained look on his face and said, "No" and I said, "Well, you'll just have to teach me how to do it then." And he did. And after I felt I had mastered it, we invited him to stay for a few minutes and join us on our deck for a proper cup of tea. I will never forget the transformation his face underwent as he politely took a sip, nearly grimacing as he did so, and then broke into a wide smile with the declaration, "now THAT is a proper cup of tea!" PG Tips, hot & strong, with milk and sugar. He did not want cream. I asked him if he liked Earl Grey (the Queen's favorite), and he made a face. He stayed nearly an hour, asked for a second cup of tea, and talked about his wife and children, his plans to retire, living in the UK, living in the USA, and working for Kelleher, our HVAC & plumbing company. It was a delightful time getting to know Pete the Plumber.

Evelyn- yes they used one for my FIL its called a Hoyer lift.. and at least in nursing homes it takes 2 people to use it..
With the trust that was written before Jeans dad passed it was put in there that Faith would not be put in nursing home.. she is end stage alzheimers and i dont think either of them,my brother included want to realize that there are things that can be done to make things easier.. Hospice included.
But unless i sit in her room thr whole.time im there ,until they get the batteries for the cameras ,im bringing my laptop to see if i can get her interested in a musical.2 -
Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Karen - LOVE those mug shots... babies bring such joy just by their existence.
JanetR - Sending hugs, hope things are well.
Rori - Ditto.
Slept like that proverbial baby last night, eight hours straight. I feel amazing this morning, and the scale shows it, which is always a lift.
Really cooked last night for the first time in a long, long time, and tried something I've never tried - gnocchi and meatballs alfredo, with baby bellas. It was fun, but lots of moving parts, and massive amounts of calories. I had eaten very little all day, so eating a small amount of it was no big deal. It was incredibly rich, however, and had I eaten even one serving size, it would have been 1200 calories. I counted my calories at 2/3 of one serving, but actually ate far less than half--had to account for the tasting of that sinful alfredo. Cheated on the alfredo and used cream cheese instead of heavy cream, easiest alfredo I've ever made. Could have made it skinnier with Neufchatel, skim milk, and quite a bit less butter, but wanted to try it the first time as it was written. Corey ate everything I didn't... and will burn it off in his first hour of work this morning.
Gnocchi (if you haven't made it) is a pain in the tuckus. If I did it again, I'd simply leave out some flour and make it a potato pancake instead. Had two large baking potatoes, and enough gnocchi for the two of us still left me with 2/3 of what I made bagged up in the freezer. Probably to be roundly discarded a few months from now.
I had forgotten that I actually enjoy cooking--it's quite creative in its own way--but I have to have TIME in order to genuinely enjoy that process. If I don't have time to doodle with a recipe, like yesterday, where the gnocchi needed to chill in the refrigerator for an hour prior to cooking them, I get frustrated. Plus any complex recipe means there are just too many decisions to make when you've been making decisions all day long. But when the biggest decision is whether to bring the sheets in off the clothesline now or after dinner, it's a lot easier.
Heather - this is all your fault. I'm beginning to understand after yesterday how you deal with cooking well for you and Johnny (and yes, I know much of that is the exercise levels you maintain). But if you cook something amazing and delicious, a reasonable amount of it is quite satisfying.
Tonight is avocado grilled chicken - he gets chicken with the avocado, I just get chicken. Avocados taste like gasoline to me.
Love y'all,

Relieved. I've just managed to write 700 words. About how I chose to lose my virginity. Not sure why I found it so difficult to write about as it was very much a cold blooded, voluntary decision of mine, but I kept putting it off and now it's done. Moving on. I even had a mini binge last night.
Done.

Up early to walk the dogs early to go to the grocery store early. My shopping list is all planned. Jake and I went over it at bedtime to make sure there's nothing missing.
Allie, glad you're back to watching Joyce. I know how good that always was for you. My morning includes several "spiritual" readings that get my day off to a good start.
Lisa, cooking can be a fun hobby when you have time for it.
Heather, congrats on getting back to your writing.
Jake has been watching YouTube videos about the the Instant Pot and the Ninja and is trying to decide if he wants one for a Father's Day gift.
My walking friend leaves today for her trip and visit with her daughters. She'll quarantine from us for 14 days after she gets back so I have a big supply of audio books and podcasts to listen to since I won't have her to talk to. The dogs will especially miss her and won't understand why she's not with us.
