    Day 16

TGIF! It's a short day of school for the kids, but I still have alot of errands to run today, so not a short day for Mommy. I'm meal planning and writing my grocery list this morning. I'm trying to save from Meals from my daily log to make meal planning and tracking easier, but thee appears to be a display bug with the My Meals tab. I just opened a ticket on that. I'd like to have about 10 solid "base" meals in that tab to provide a solid framework for eating and meal planning, but also gives me some variety.

I'm less and less inclined to have the standard once-a-week Take-out lunch with my husband because I feel it derails my efforts for a day or two after, even if it's relatively healthy meal. I don't know if that's just perception or reality, but a break from take-out can't hurt. Besides, I'm not strongly craving anything right now, so it's best to save a meal out for when the craving is REALLY strong.

    Wishing everyone a great weekend!

@MommaGemz I know what you mean about a takeout lunch derailing your plan... it can be disheartening seeing a gain, even if it's only a temporary one caused by salt.

I haven't had a single takeout since getting back on the wagon and I've been debating with myself when/if I'm going to break that streak and if so, what would be worth it for me. There are so few places that publish full nutritional info, and I like to know the numbers so I can work around them.

    Day 17

My husband and I just bought a stationary bike and it arrives next week! I'm so excited! Steps are helping for sure, but they don't really have any cardio effect. Getting up and moving is important for sure, so I will still work on getting 10K steps, but now I have a means of getting my heart rate up without going outside (Texas way tooo hot and humid) or bouncing (most workout DVDs). (A future goal will be starting to use the Bowflex we have, but that's a future-future goal - I'm going to ramp up gradually).

I made a mistake and waited too long to have lunch and got struck with some low blood sugar. That made me HANGRY. Besides that today was a pretty laid-back day and it was easy to get in my steps and keep on track with my calories.

@thelastnightingale Nutritional menus are a lifesaver when planning a meal out for sure! Then I go and get cravings for places with no nutritional info, like my favorite Indian or Pho place :s Great job on the No Takeout since you started - that's an accomplishment for sure!

@MommaGemz I truly appreciate your dedication to walking. I really need to get back into it. On the plus side, I love my stationary bike. On days I don’t swim, I usually jump on it and peddle away while doing laundry. Mine runs different programs, so at least there’s a little variety. Have fun!

Ugh! Today is one of those days. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm grumpy and just want to eat pancakes! But, if I don't make them, I can't eat them, so eggs it is! Have a great Sunday!!

Oh my gosh I know exactly how you feel - lack of sleep makes me crave dangerous foods! Be strong!

@MommaGemz Thank you! I did okay so far, and even swam for over an hour! I wish I had your motivation to walk, though!

    Day 18

I got to sleep in this morning, so I had a little more energy to tackle the day; however, this is my busiest day of the week. I ate breakfast and some coffee and it was full speed after that. Now that I home school the kids during the week, all of my other projects need to be done on the weekends. I used to spread it out through the week. So I was up and moving all day and got the steps in that way. Because I was so busy I thought less about food and snacking. Now I'm exhausted and I just want to sit down and kick my feet up, but I need to get the kids bathed and into bed first. Sunday is definitely NOT a day of rest for me. :#

    Day 19

It's a Monday and I feel really slow going. My sleep wasn't great last night and I am relying heavily on coffee to get this home school day with the kids going. I'm trying to keep moving to stay alert, so at least I'm working on my steps.

Does white rice make anyone else retain water? It seems to be the carb that has the most negative effect on my weight loss efforts. I would eliminate it entirely if my husband didn't love rice so much. I'm going to have to start getting riced cauliflower for myself. Maybe do a 50/50 mix or something. (I actually already had some in my freezer and tried out a 70/30 mix with rice - not bad at all  )

I ended the day with much more energy than I started. I got in about 1000 more steps than I normally do and I'm hoping for better sleep tonight.

@MommaGemz I haven't noticed any issues with white rice - for me, it's just too much salt. Sounds like you've found a good compromise though with the riced cauliflower. :)

You're doing so well with all those green ticks, well done to you for sticking to your goals! Hope you got a good night's sleep - I find it has such a big impact on my weight. I think many people underestimate the interaction between sleep and weight loss.

@thelastnightingale I definitely notice a difference in how much I want to stick with a plan based on the quality of my sleep. I now set an alarm in the evening to remind me to stop what I'm doing and get ready for bed. :D

    Day 20

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my stationary bike today! Then we have to put it together, so I probably won't get to try it out until tomorrow. Eeeeeeee!! :D

I did have a crappy incident as a small business owner that really crushed the rest of my day. I wanted to comfort eat SO BAD. Being a small business owner is truly 99% positive and satisfying, but that 1% can really be a soul-sucker. Regardless, I managed to stay on track with my meal plan. Okay... maybe I snuck in a cookie, but I was still within my calorie range

    Day 21

BOOOOOO.... My stationary bike did NOT arrive yesterday and I am really bummed. And the company does not have a new estimated time for delivery, so... I wait. :(

I had a difficult day yesterday, so I had poor sleep last night and I'm tired today. I weigh-in tomorrow morning, so I need to be extra diligent not to snack to "stay awake" today. But there will be extra coffee for sure. I'm trying to also keep my sodium intake lower today so I don't retain extra water before weigh-in.

In general this week has been extra frustrating, disappointing and exhausting. All of the components that really trigger me to comfort eat. I'm doing my best to have the willpower and just make it to Saturday when we can have our Anniversary celebration.

Hi there! That's fat me in the photo from just before quarantine. (we went to Sarasota from 3/5-10 - I don't regret it)! I am a lump. I sit in the same chair all day working or doing minimal housework. I have a full house again, after the empty nest. My son was in the Peace Corps in Peru and got evacuated at the end of his service - hasn't lived home since 2012, and my youngest daughter was class of 2020 at her university, so that was a rough patch. Middle daughter is in NY - ground zero of the virus - haven't seen her since December. The only fun thing to do was family dinner. But I eat my feelings, so I've gained weight from that "beautiful" before pic - Last I looked was 201.4. Goal is 150, but I'll take 160. I've been working with a trainer, and paid her in advance because she was about to go under in March - first we did FaceTime, but since May 15 she has been coming here (I'm in Virginia). It's 3 hours of exercise a week, plus I will walk the dogs a few miles on the weekends. Honestly, I'm a binge eater, and when times get tough I get snacking. Now I feel lousy and have no stamina. Today was day one of tracking. I was really hungry all day, but I had about 1300 calories (goal is 1200) and ate very well; breakfast was 1 slice bread with 1 (measured) TB natural no sugar peanut butter and 1/2 banana; lunch was salad made by my super healthy new grad w/ some chunks of leftover meat from last night; watermelon for snack and dinner (also made by daughter - she cooks vegetarian on wednesdays) shakshouka (eggs and peppers), zucchini fritters and shishito peppers for dinner. Tomorrow is my night to cook. It's all mental for me. I know what to eat (not mint milanos!) but sometimes......it's like falling off the wagon. Anyway, thanks for listening.......

    Day 22

Today has been SO completely overwhelming. So many things to do and not enough time or hands to do them.

Amazon was completely out of stock of the stationary bike I had already ordered when it was listed as IN STOCK, and didn't know when they would get them back in stock. I canceled my order. I spent some time doing more bike research only to find that all bike companies are giving a 60 day lead time for delivery and some... will only deliver to the curb! I scoured local stores and finally found one that has one of the bikes I wanted in stock right now and available for pick up. I ordered it, and my ordered was processed only to find out.... that store was actually already sold out as well. SERIOUSLY sick and tired of stores selling me something that is actually out of stock. Now I have found another store that sells the bike I want (but overpriced) and will 'supposedly' deliver it next week. We'll see :(

I also had a long list of business tasks to catch up on, home schooling, cleaning, groceries, steps - UGH. So tired. I barely, barely made my step goal today.

Meals were my standard, but last week I did manage to get some frozen scallops at Aldi and decided to make a pasta dish tonight. It was a great change of pace!

One perfectly weighed portion of my very favorite ice cream (Blue Bell - Moollenium Crunch) to save the day!

@mpluna64 This year seems to have really challenged everyone is ways we never ever expected. I haven't seen my Mom (who lives 10 miles away) in 4 months now. She's a senior, recently recovered from Cancer, and we just don't want to risk her health. I'm now home schooling my two kids, which I never, ever considered before. It's a big change for everyone. I too ate ALOT of my feelings over the last couple of months. Gained back way more than I had lost the year before and was too stressed out and anxious to consider exercise or tracking calories.

I'm wishing you and your family the very best! Best wishes in getting back on track and I hope everyone stays healthy! <3<3
