    @pridesabtch That gravel bike looks awesome! Fingers crossed your dealer can get it in your size :+1:

    @sijomial The bike fitting sounds very useful. I hope you stay happy with the results for a long time! How long did the fitting process take?
    My current saddle is coming apart, and I have trouble finding the same model again. At least not locally, I saw a handful of offers on ebay, some of them new. Still, I wondered if I should get a proper fitting before buying a new one. But I just had a look at offers in my region and found two places that offer bike fittings. The offers range from "basic" (1 hour / ~ 100 Euro) to "professional" (2.5 hours / 250 Euro)... Maybe I go with an ebay saddle for now and safe the bike fitting for that magical time in the future when I'm doing really long distances on my bike.
    I have a bike lane almost like the one on your last photo on my commute :D
    Okay, not quite as bad, there's space enough to squeeze by the trees. But it's still annoying enough that I usually take a slightly longer way to avoid it... City planners should be forced to use the lanes that they designate as bike lanes themselves at least once!

    @icemom011 Congrats on your century!!!

    I'm still hoping to do a metric century this year, not sure if I'll manage though. Last year I could have done it; my longest ride then was 84.1 km. This year I had less time and haven't done much more then 50km in a ride yet. So I should probably aim for a 75km ride first.

    Two weeks of vacation are over, back to work!

    Tue, 8/4/2020 23.9km commute
    Thu, 8/6/2020 32.8km commute plus a bit
    Sun, 8/9/2020 46.6 km vacation ride to a mineralic spring
    Mon, 8/10/2020 19.6km to a historic village and back
    Thu, 8/13/2020 19.5km to another historic village and back
    Mon, 8/17/2020 Bike tour along a river along some well-marketed cycling trail. Unfortunately, parts of the trails were closed for maintenance in two places, and the suggested detours along some hiking trails were a) very steep and b) totally not suitable for my roadbike. ((what the heck were they thinking? I'd rather have done a few km more along regular roads than the shortest-possible detour up and down through a forest)).
    I'm still logging this as a 35km ride, even if I was pushing or straight-out carrying my bike for almost 5km of it. Here's a picture of the elevation profile, I bet you can spot both the long as well as the short detour :lol:
    h1czzkvo1vec.png
    And a side-by-side comparison of the "bad" and "good" parts of the way
    jknamkqenipd.png
    Wed, 8/19/2020 23.6km to a castle and back
    Tue, 8/25/2020 23.6km commute

    227.5km for August. 250km sound doable!

    My fitting appointment allocated up to 3hrs but I was finished in just over 2hrs.
    But my bike already fitted me quite well (right model, size, crank length, handlebars and stem length) so only needed one component change (saddle which the fitter had used with success on people with my problems).
    I'd had a very knowledgable friend set me up a few years ago with traditional tools (ruler, plumb line, protractor) so my position needed tweaks rather than big adjustments.

    Also, I fitted the bike quite well (if you see what I'm getting at), back alignment, hips, centre of mass, cleat position. Only needed new shoe inserts to fit my arch better and a small rotation of the bars to straighten my wrist position.

    As my discomfort issue was very much due to the saddle that was by far the biggest win. If I had known the outcome in advance just the dynamic seat pressure test would have given me 90% of the benefit for a fraction of the time and cost. But no regrets - it was nice to get confirmation a lot of things were right and the small 10% tweaks have also worked out well. I've got a comprehensive set of dimensions which I've just transferred to my second bike having fitted the same new saddle to that one.

    Apart from all the whizzy technology another benefit was simply having 2hrs of dedicated time with a very smart cyclist and fitter. Interesting suggestions over pedalling techniques and the experience to select exactly the right saddle at first attempt. The saddle wasn't expensive and I didn't get any impression they were trying to sell me loads of bits.

    Wasn’t feeling it today. Was just going to jump on the bike and ride around the block for ten minutes. Ended up riding 13.6 miles😜 I just can’t help myself when I get on the bike, I just want to keep riding. 🚴🏻‍♂️🤘🏼

    8/27:
    Morning ride - 9.62 miles
    Monthly total - 271.63 miles
    Left to goal - 43.37 miles

    Didn't ride yesterday, had to take the dog to the vet to get snipped and just puttered around the house all day. Blew a tube this morning (and was already on my spare tube), so ended up walking the bike 4 1/4 miles home from the middle of my ride... guess I'm going to the bike shop this afternoon to pick up a couple of tubes.

    Total for August so far- 647.8 miles.

    @ccrdragon
    That's a bit of a walk.. sorry it happened. I would patch the tubes though.

    @sijomial
    Does the new saddle allows you a few days of longish consecutive days of riding without pain and/or discomfort? I still have stock on my Cannondale, and longer rides are definitely causing discomfort, sometimes pain. And so are longish rides on consecutive days. I would love to ride more if weather allows, and i have some extra time now. So definitely considering changing saddle.

    Haven't had a chance to try any back to back rides of any great distance yet, only a couple of sub 30 mile rides. Weather in southern England hasn't been great and the unwelcome distraction of work and the very welcome distraction of becoming a grandad has meant cycling has taken a back seat (saddle?).
    Positive so far though, a 64 mile ride felt absolutely fine.

    I've been fairly low volume (for me) recently. A few turbo sessions, weekly racing and a weekend away last weekend where the weather was a bit rubbish so I didn't ride as much as I'd have liked to.

    But I have a photo for you - the one on the left popped up on my Facebook memories from this time last year so I wore the same jersey on this morning's turbo session so I could compare just how much looser it is now.

    I wish racing was back for us here :(

    At the moment it's only time trialling rather than bunch racing but I prefer TTs anyway.

    Morning ride - 17.26 miles
    Monthly total - 288.89 miles
    Left to goal - 26.11 miles

    Had a blowout on yesterday's ride, this morning was much better. Will be doing a ride this weekend to make-up for skipping Wednesday (had to take the dog to the vet and some other things).

    What a difference in the two pictures. That must have made a big difference to your watts/kilo.

    @sijomial yes! From about 2.55 this time last year to 3.55 now. I've only actually gained 12w, most of the change has been on the kg side of the equation 😉 although now I'm eating at maintenance I'm meant to be moving to more of a power build phase.

    Turbo trainer for me today. 3x20 at FTP while watching La Course and cheering Lizzie deignan on (she's local to me and I know her parents). Outside tomorrow.
