Labor Day Goal Achieved ... Time to Set a New One ... What's Yours?

So I met my goal of losing 15 pounds by Labor Day -- YAY! I designated Labor Day as my "free day" and promptly gained 2 pounds back. It's taken me all week to get those 2 pounds off. Now it's time to set a new goal. I have a doctor's appointment on November 5 which is roughly 7 weeks away. I would love to show up with an A1C of 6.5 and a weight loss of 25 pounds. I know this will be a challenge as family birthdays and Halloween stand between me and my goal. I could use all the encouragement I can get!! Anybody want to join me in losing 10 pounds over the next 7 weeks?

Sure, but I will change it a bit. I want to lost 10lbs by Nov 15 (my 33rd birthday) I have similar struggles between now and then, Halloween of course, but also 3 of my 4 childrens birthdays-Oct 20, Nov 8, and Nov 12 (ya we are busy then)

I'd like to join! I met my goal for Labour Day early and then gained a bit back but I understand there are fluctuations and we just keep going! My goal is to lose 7 lbs! That would put me at 148.2...I haven't even been this weight in 7 years (I was 145 when I got married in 2013).

Oh you have a busy week too. We used to have another one in that week in november, but He passed away this year. Its crazy because my son and mines birthdays are 1 week apart, and in that week we have had 4 birthdays, In our house, lol.3 -
We have four birthdays in five days in my family and another one five days after that: my mother and I share a birthday; my elder great niece's birthday is two days later, and my younger great niece's another two days later. Five days after that is my middle niece's birthday.1

In our family of 5, the birthdays start in October and end in December. As if the holidays weren't crazy enough!! I'm hoping to still be losing weight when mine rolls around at the beginning of December, but I can't guarantee anything!!2 -
hey, nancykadolph - good idea! i was thinking about christmas or new year as a milestone, but november 11 is sooner
i'd be ok with losing 5 pounds in 8 weeks, but 10 pounds would probably get my blood sugar down to normal.

Hi there! Okay, so this year has been a lot... for everyone. Lost my dad in Jan. Lost my Aunt in April. Lost my daughter to late term miscarriage (4 months) in July. My birthday is Oct 7, and would love to lose 5 lbs by then. Then another 5 by 11/11. Just to have something to focus on and look forward to. Thanks for creating a place to check in!

Gotta admit, I'm struggling today. It seems if I go even slightly over 1200 calories in a day, I immediately have a gain. It's disheartening when losing is soooo sloooow. Honestly, I must've been eating about 7,000 calories a day before I started tracking, yet I maintained my weight (at 199, but still ). It's discouraging, but I'm trusting in the process and still hoping for a loss this week. Ugh ... why is gaining weight so easy and losing weight so hard??!!!

Thank you! 1200 is so few: how tall are you? I am 5'11" and if I go below about 1350/1400 (before exercise) I just feel meh. And plateaus happen. I tries adjusting my macros to keep myself within the recommended proportions and it seemed to help me. (But maybe the scale was ready to move anyway.) Stay with it!2

Thanks Charmmeth! I'm 5'4" and 63 years old. In the last 6 years I've had a bone marrow transplant and 6 surgeries. I used to be a gym rat and could get away with eating quite a bit and at least maintaining because I was pretty muscular. Those days are gone now and I'm old and flabby and I can't move enough to burn many calories. Most days I get my 10,000 steps in, but it's a slow go, not cardio. There's a gym at the end of my block, but it's closed because of Covid. My balance is wonky and I'm not agile at all. Now that I've given you a list of my excuses please tell me to get over it and quit whining. I actually find that 1200 calories is pretty doable except when I go completely off the rails (which has only happened twice in the last 8 weeks -- once planned and once unplanned [today]).6

Wow Nancy, life has been a roller coaster for you, hasn't it? I think you're doing great to get in 10K steps a day!! Keep at it!!

I'm 56, so just a few years behind you! I used to be able to eat anything and stay slim, or even lose weight, but from my mid-30s I had to watch more carefully and since menopause I need to make sure I get a good lot of exercise. When I hit 195 lbs (again) after Easter, I knew I needed to do something about it. Thankfully I am losing steadily again at the moment but last month felt very static. (My monthly average says it was actually less so than it felt.) Good luck!3

i'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through all of that.
i too, used to be a gym rat, and i was very muscular for my height at 5' 3 1/2", and i'm also 63. through my latter thirties and forties, i worked out at least 18 hours a week, mostly lifting, and after some injuries (only 1 happened in the gym) and an undiagnosed lung issue, here i am, very low muscle mass, weak and flabby. i've never had good balance. but i'm working toward being fit and hopefully strong again... someday. overdoing always seems to hurt something, so i'm being forced to use patience, which isn't always exactly my strong suit

I don't know where the part of my post disappeared to in which I said I am so sorry to hear what you have gone through. I think it is amazing that you are where you are! If your balance is off, itm ight be worth trying some of the seated exercises that are around? (No balance needed.)1 -
Tuesdays are the day I don't exercise before weighing, so my Tuesday weight shows above what my logged weight on mfp is showing (logged yesterday morning, after exercise but before breakfast).
