Omfg so I had planned a good exercise routine for today, since I'm new with my weight loss I try to work out every other day (and hopefully will get to everyday). Well, I had my first time ever appt with the OBGYN and it was fine but I didn't think I would hurt so bad after the pap. I feel rly gross not working out for more than 2 days but my stomach hurts like a mofo rn...does this happen everytime?! No one said it hurts much to me before!

Pap tests can be uncomfortable (and may always be, sorry. However, I'm sure you'd rather an honest perspective). Your OB/GYN should have perhaps prepped you a bit better for it both mentally and physically. I find breathing helps. As do the ridiculous pictures some physicians put on their ceilings to distract you (dolphins jumping out of the water anyone?!)
Perhaps call them back, describe your discomfort and concerns then see what they recommend about your exercise program today.
Vaginal probing discomfort: temporary. Vaginal health: forever <-- Can this be a coffee mug motto?
ETA: When you have too much time on your hands after work...

I’ve never had two days of pain from a Pap smear, usually just for a few hours afterwards. Maybe you should call your doctor and let them know, just in case.8

I've never had any pain after a pap smear. It's a little uncomfortable, but not painful, even when I had a doctor who was hamfisted. Hopefully next time you go you'll have a doctor who is a bit gentler. If you tell him/her what happened this time, they should be more careful next time.5

I've also never had any pain from a pap smear. I second (or third) the idea that you should contact your doctor.5

Ive had some discomfort. I have seen patients get bruised from a pap. Especially after their first one. Spotting is normal also FYI1

I’ve not had lasting pain from a cervical smear either. Different nurses/practitioners can produce a very different experience ‘in the moment’ but I can’t imagine how bad an experience it would have to be to give pain days later! 😱
Even after colposcopy and cone biopsy (many years ago) I had no persistent pain.
Definitely talk to your doctor as it may not be connected to your recent procedure but indicative of an unrelated issue.1 -

I'm almost 54 and have never had this after a pap smear.
I think you should contact your doctor. Perhaps the pain is completely unrelated; perhaps they somehow injured or infected you.7 -
Hey guys! I talked to my OBGYN after reading some of these, she said since it was my first time I might have some spotting for up to a few days but if the pain continues to make another appt to see her. I got to do some light yoga today and felt fine ❤️ thanks for everyone's concerns!10

I learned that I have (had/ I had a hysterectomy a while back) a curved cervix. Once that was brought as awareness, my OBGYN was able to use a slightly different instrument with a lot less discomfort. Something to check out!5

For me it depends on the doctor but I've had a lot of pelvic exams because of endometriosis complications. One doctor I'd always bleed and cramp afterward. It's not normal but not exactly abnormal either. Hope you feel better soon!1

I've had horrible cervical pain, followed by what felt like a day or two of bad period pain.
I wish it was something that they warned you about as an uncommon side effect.0 -
Glad you're feeling better OP!0
