I want to improve my overall health. I fight several autoimmune conditions and I'm sure less weight to carry around would help me continue my active lifestyle (when Covid lets us!). I'm a sugar addict so since I joined MFP in late December I've been trying to reduce my sugar intake by trying to eatfewer carbs. I'm 69 years old with 50 pounds to lose. Would like to have several friends to share/exchange ideas.4

I gave birth In October. I want to gain health and strength to take care of myself and my baby girl. I also want to have the energy to get through the day when I return to work, and still have enough to spend time with my baby and husband when I get home.4

GAIN & KEEP: A changed mindset. To always choose to do what is best, and healthiest for my current and future self.
Being a 10 year member of MFP has taught me that its never too late to start or begin again and to trust the process.2 -
Looking to gain a better future and healthy habits.1

I want to gain the freedom to wear anything from any store that I so choose. I want to be light enough that I won't worry that I'd throw out the backs of health care providers who may have to lift me ( I go in for surgery quite often due to disability). I want to gain a world that's bigger. Now I know losing weight won't cure the disability I was born with, but it will make movement easier and make more places I could go into if I could walk better. Not all spaces are wheelchair accessible. Mostly though I just want to gain confidence in my body and it's strengths, and find ways to work around it's limitations so I can have a fuller life3

I want to gain strength, I want to gain flexibility, I want to gain a good posture, I want to gain a better sleep3
-
1) endurance
2) reduced chronic pain
3) flexibility
4) BMI <30 (currently 30.4), long-term goal ~22.

I'm hoping for a more disciplined approach to my days and an outcome that gives me freedom to once again do the activities that I love.2
-
I do workouts everymorning before school, so I can sleep better, focus better, function better, and get more in shape.2
-
My first little goal is to be under 210 then under 200 pounds. I want to develop better habits and to be a good example for my teenage daughter. I have not been under 199 pounds in over 30 years. I have pledged to walk at least a mile every day and am also trying to do some other activity daily. It is cold walking outside, but so much more enjoyable than walking on a treadmill inside4

To be comfortable in my own skin by dropping my body fat % to 20%, currently 24.5%. Gain a bit more muscle, and work on my over all longevity.1

In 2021 I would like to gain:
1.) Confidence - by losing weight
2.) Flexibility - by learning yoga this year & stretching more
3.) Discipline - I guess practice will help me gain this one... heh
and some more friends along the way!! Add me!0 -
Everyone is different. I have rarely been any good with goals, because they seemed too "generic" for lack of a better term. "Look better, be healthier, get down to X weight, workout X times a week, etc." If those work for you, I am not criticizing. But this year I have found one that has really got me excited.
I am 68. I worked out in martial arts for 25 years and really liked it, but I have been away from it for decades. I find myself reliving those old days, but with a feeling they were well behind me. My goal this year? Get back into it! I have a plan to lose enough weight and get in good enough shape just so I don't totally embarrass myself or get hurt. I have a studio picked out to join. I am really pumped about it.
I am high risk for COVID, so I am going to work on my diet and exercise while I am waiting for the vaccine, which for me should be next month or the month after. Then I am going for it! I will continue with the diet and exercise also.7 -
My main goal is better health markers. The older I get, the more I have paid attention to things like cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure. So far none have been an issue except the blood pressure and I hope to keep it that way as long as possible!
As for BP, I've been on meds for several years. I'm hoping to lose enough weight to reduce, if not completely eliminate them. I'm not that overweight (174 lb, 5'5") but my doctor thinks it will help.
Also, I want to be smaller and lighter so that I can perform better at yoga and dancing. The poses are easier with less of *me* in the way! The more active I am now, hopefully the more gracefully I can age.4 -
I want to take control back of my body. I realize now that I have a no-portion mindset/food addiction, but when I can see the numbers of what I consume, it keeps me on track. MPF worked for me 10 years ago, and it can work for me again now.
I hate to think like this but recovering addicts have support groups and keep count to track. I'm doing the same again now because I realize that I have an issues, most likely a life long issue of always over indulgence. I'm doing this to support myself to achieve a healthier life, and build/have a great support system around me where I can hopefully help others as well.
I struggle with my self image. My wife hates that I can never take a compliment. I tell her it's because she married a person who looks like a "before picture". I want to change that. I'm confident in a lot of things I do- projects, repairs, project management- I'm just not confident in my appearance.
I don't want to be trapped in a unhealthy body anymore, and I want to be proud of myself again. Even if I have to count the rest of my life, that's the bed I made from years of over indulgence.
I here to win this war, fight these battles head in, and make a lasting impact in my life toward wellness.
That's why I'm here.
I'm always looking for awesome and positive friends- please send a request if you'd like!6 -
Not so much what I hope to gain but What I hope to lose. I want to get back to my normal weight. I am on track need to continue the momentum.2

I am looking to gain full mobility of my left leg. In September of 2020, I had a hemorrhagic stroke that paralyzed the left side of my body from the waist down. I was able to gain enough mobility to walk using an AFO brace, but I have a lot of progress to make. I am not supposed to exercise vigorously for 3-5 years as I had a radiation treatment to my brain to embolize the AVM that bled causing the stroke. Other than mobility, I am also looking regain hope that my life will one day return to "normal" and all my treatments, slowly but surely, will be successful.6
-
I´m looking for some more inspiration to gain my effort. I've got 20 kilos to lose.
I had my baby born in the November -04. Thereafter I´ve been through 4 brainoperations (due to a tumour), 4 misscarriages, divorce that I wanted. Now I wanna get on my feet again. The doctor found suitable medidin for my pain in leg and now I`ll make my new start! Here I come again!4 -
2021 I HOPE TO GAIN SELF DISCIPLINE AND ALL THE POSITIVE THINGS THAT COME WITH IT! I HAVE LET COVID TAKE ALL MY DISCIPLINE FROM ME AND USE IT FOR AN EXCUSE!2
-
I am looking to gain self discipline, better healthier eating habits, to fit and look better in my clothes. Also, I want to gain stamina, strength and be able to do yoga and exercises without pain or feeling like I am going to pass out!3
-
I'm looking to gain a healthier lifestyle and regain my fit soccer body back...minus the soccer part! lol my joints won't allow me to run anymore...Just power walking and weight training HIIT workouts from now on. I've had chronic lower back pain and hoping to shed some pounds and strengthening my core will help alleviate the pain.1

Hi All,
After many years of not really focusing on the needs of my body, I've eventually gotten to the point where I've admitted that I'm really unhappy with the way that I look and the inability to be able to enjoy the activities I once did. By many standards I'm not really that heavy (I was 16st 4lbs ish) but I've put on alot of viceral fat due to poor diet choices. As i'm 5ft 7in I felt weighed down and lethargic.
Just over a month ago I'd finally had enough and embarked on learning and forming new healthy habits into my life.
I overspent on Under Armor gym clothes (which are definitely worth it!) , some modest equipment for home workouts and a Calisthenics course.
My most recent purchase being the MyFitnessPal app which is amazing!
I'm pleased to say that in a little over 5 weeks I've dropped 12lbs (Losing 50lbs is my goal) purely down to changes in food types, sizes of meals and counting macros. Now I start on phase 2 which is introducing exercise back in the mix.
I commit to 30 mins daily exercise as a minimum.
Thanks to Under Armor for coming alongside me in this journey... although they don't know it!
Good luck on your own personal journeys and remember... The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step!
