04/12 197 Uhhhhh. Very lazy yesterday.
04/13 197 No change. I am very disappointed. I am still swollen but not as much as I was. I was more active yesterday but still over indulged. It is so easy to fall down the rabbit hole with carbs and sugar.
04/14 195.9 TOM is still kicking my butt which accounts for extra heaviness.
04/15 195.4 It’s something. No walk during lunch for 2 days in a row, but I got in 10 minutes last night.
04/16 194.6 Here we go. No sabotaging. I am going out to eat tomorrow evening. Light day tomorrow.
04/17 DNW scale error; went a bit wonky on me
    04/18 195.9
    04/19 196.2
04/20 195.5 My Saturday night outing was with some friends who all said “How good I look, how much weight I’ve lost” but I am frustrated by the loss and gain of the 4 or 5lbs lately. However sometimes I have to remember to give myself credit for my success. I am 28lbs less than I was a year ago today. The 10 day challenges keep me from really go off the rails. It keeps me going. So a big thank you to all! You keep me ground it. I might falter or stumble along this journey but I have not fallen off.
04/21 195.3 Higher than I wanted but still a recorded loss.

    Round 146 (21): 124.0 to 124.4 (+0.4 lbs)

    Goals for this round:

    - Maintain between 124 and 126
    - Continue 10 week strength training program
    - Check in every day

4/12 - 125.4 - Happy 40th birthday to me! 🥳 I am so, so happy today. If you had told me on this day last year that today I’d be 40 lbs lighter, able to run a 5K without stopping, able to hold a full plank for 2+ minutes and able to do 3-4 full push-ups, I would have laughed. I owe a ton to this group and all the support - it’s still hard to believe how far I’ve come. The process really can work! We can do this! I’m in the best shape I’ve been since college and so much happier and healthier than I was. I got to sit outside in the sun with two friends yesterday for a picnic birthday brunch - it almost felt normal. Both my husband and I have our first vaccine and are scheduled for #2 at the end of this month. I have two amazing kids who I have the incredible privilege of getting to raise and teach each day - they even made Mommy a special birthday cake with TONS of sprinkles (Daddy helped with the baking but the sprinkles were all them). I know there is so much wrong in the world right now, but today I’m focusing on the joy. 🥰

4/13 - 125.4 - I will absolutely take that on the scale this morning, since I ate yesterday like calories didn’t exist. Back to reality today - I’ll still enjoy the leftovers and the rest of the birthday cake, of course, but I’ll measure and track them now. Thank you all for the birthday wishes - I try to be a positive voice and give back a little of the help and support I’ve gotten from this group. I hope everyone has a great day - I started mine with a killer leg workout and now I get to go try out my blender with a breakfast smoothie!

4/14 - 126 - Higher on the scale than I’d like, but there are multiple possible reasons (birthday celebrations catching up to me, hormones, water weight from working out) so I’ll just keep tracking and see what it does. A bit sore and tired this morning; was up multiple times last night with the toddler. My strength workout this morning was back and biceps, then I added a 10 minute HIIT to that to burn some calories.

4/15 - 125.0 - Went for a 40 minute run this morning; my pace was slower than usual so it only worked out to be about 3.6 miles but I was just feeling really tired. Happier with the number on the scale but would prefer to have more energy. I skipped most of my regular meal prep this week (too busy on Sunday) and it’s made such a big difference in the difficulty of tracking my calories. Facing multiple times a day the dual questions of “what do I want to eat?” plus “What will fit into my calories?” is mentally exhausting compared to simply having everything planned. I won’t skip it again!

4/16 - 125.2 - Finished the birthday cake last night, so that temptation is gone! My nemesis is still snacking on sweet stuff, especially in the evening after dinner. Gotta be more focused - and go to bed earlier!

    4/17 - DNW
    4/18 - 124.6
    4/19 - 125.8
4/20 - 125.4 - Sorry I’ve been terrible about checking in this round. We’ve changed up our morning schedule and I keep starting a post then getting distracted and forgetting to post. So! Scale keeps going up and down within 124-126, which is fine though I’d prefer it a little lower. I’ll have to do the work for that though, and I like my snacks an awful lot to focus on weight loss again. I’m going to finish this round and then take a break for awhile, I think.

4/21 - 124.2 - Ending the round almost exactly where I started it. That’s awesome since I had plenty of birthday cake over these 10 days, plus I took a virtual class to learn how to make cream puffs and eclairs. I shared them with friends but enjoyed plenty of them myself! So cool to learn, though it will certainly be a “special occasion” thing rather than a “make frequently” thing. Still doing the Caroline Girvan Epic Heat program - each day is a challenge but you feel great and so strong when you finish.

I am going to take a break from the group for a little while - I’m happy where I am with maintenance and I feel bad that I’m not checking in each morning. Thank you all for everything over these 22 rounds. You guys are all so amazing and I know you can reach your goals!

    😷Take care! Stay safe!😷

March focus: improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale

    Aims:
    2021 Focus:
    • Maintain weight < 150
    • Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
    • Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
    • Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy
    [/color]
Never give up! Never give in!
    Recent Back Story:
    • 2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅
    • 2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
    • 2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ Strength training has slowed progress, but that’s okay.
    • That's a WIN in my book!
    • 2021
    • Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.
    • (One good thing about Covid is that I don't have to traverse the minefield of family celebration meals.)

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
    • Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
    • A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
    • Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
    • The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
    • Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
    • The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
    • When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
    • Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

04/14 - 56.5kg, lots of gardening and logged every bite!
04/15 - 56.2kg, logging is working to keep me losing, rainy yesterday so no walking but some early morning gardening
04/16 - 56.5kg, logged everything and was within limits, but too much sodium is hopefully the culprit here, > 10,000 steps!
04/17 - DNW, couldn't bear to see the scale after a major food meltdown yesterday afternoon, hope to be back on track today...
04/18 - 56.7kg, did okay today but only just
04/19 - 57.0kg, my heart is not in it this round
    04/20 - 57.4kg, ugh!
04/21 - 57.5kg - didn't actually weigh this day but this is what I was today, Friday. It's not the end of the world but not sure where I'm going with this poor attitude.
