Machka - Excellent run! Well done! :)

You shamed me into going out for a 5k first thing this morning. I managed to find a gap in the rain and only had a few spots on me. I go very slowly on my leisure runs, but my best time at a Parkrun was just over 45 mins. I don't really enjoy running against the clock. I am always nearly last.

Finished off my morning burn with 25 mins rowing.

Love to all. I'm missing SuzyQ. Anyone in touch with her? And CJ, you've disappeared again!
Bananas - I hope you are enjoying the terraces opening up! B)

Today will be in the 90s so I will be staying inside.. when its that hot its hard for me to breath..

Happy Sunday, all, hope it is, was or will be serene and lovely for us all.

We might even see the sun today - which feels like the first time in weeks, but there have been a few glimpses. Just a slight chance of rain this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. All the rain is blowing up west of me and going up through central Oklahoma, which makes me remember Janet OK - you're missed, lady...

Didn't get to the farmer's market this weekend, because I was chasing a rambunctious 18-month-old escape artist, but I do want to make it next weekend, so I've got some digging to do today... I do think I will check with the Facebook group that centers around this community and see what baked goods people would be willing to pay money for, and then do some baking on Friday before the sale.

Couldn't hurt, might help--but I need to make sure they're profitable by running a cost on each item as well. I love baking, and wouldn't mind doing some, but don't want to turn it into a chore, if that makes sense.

Our family all departed us mid-morning yesterday, and my daughter left behind a dryer-full of clothes. She always leaves something behind. Bless her, she was crying when she left. She's got a couple of tough months ahead of her when her husband transfers to Poland for nine months, but she's superb at building and being part of support networks. She's been fine before, and she'll be fine again, but we're not in a spot where we can go to her rescue right now. She will figure it out.

I've already done three loads of laundry this morning, at least three more to do to get all the blankets washed and dried and put away. Time to get biz-zay...

    Later, y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa

ETA - Blood tests next week and a telehealth appointment with my doc the following week to discuss results. Finished up my full round of antibiotics day before yesterday, so the timing is pretty good. We'll see how it all turns out. I need to get some questions written down.

Allie - I considered mailing them, but it seems a little silly. It would cost me nearly $15 to mail it - the USPS has gotten stupid expensive. If she asks for them, I will.

Did Mari Windsor’s Pilates for Pink Core Challenge DVD then took a walk. Work tomorrow so no formal exercise

Evelyn - I have used wax paper on the bottom of a cake and then removed it. I was just wondering if there was a good way to transfer it from this cake stand that I have that revolves around so you can ice all the sides and not have to turn the plate around to what I am going to serve it on. One time as I was mowing on the tractor which I usually don’t do, Vince pointed out places I’d missed. I just told him “well, I’ll get them next time”. Didn’t go over real well with Mr. OCD

M – congrats on the run

Tracey – what an adorable helper you have there

Masks: like going to stores and not having to wear a mask. Admitted, I’m usually not in the stores for long periods of time.

Wish we had a Costco nearby. The closest one is almost in Charlotte. We do have a Sam’s, tho. Not very big, tho

Sunny today so I’ll probably go in the pool

Allie: You are absolutely right. I am sad because our sweet old dog is no longer alive. Schooner was a very sweet boy and much loved. We will be looking for a puppy, but not right away. DH is grieving along with me, and he isn’t quite ready to rush out and buy the first pup we see.

Lisa: I hope your upcoming doctor visit gives you good news. :flowerforyou:

Last evening, we got a facetime call from our son. He and our grandson were in the bathroom, and our grandson was having a very good time splashing & playing in the tub. It was a wonderful treat and helped both DH & I to put smiles on each of our faces. Facetime is a wonderful thing.

It is damp outside, and although it is not raining this very minute, the decks are wet. This is a good morning to stay inside and be cozy.

Allie: DH and I are grieving. Eventually we will look for a pup. Our neighbor has a rescue dog that is a wonderful boy. They rescued each other. We had a dog years ago who was the same breed as Schooner. She died from a bee sting. When we began to accept the loss we went looking for a pup that turned out to be Schooner. Now we’re too sad to look for a pup. We will start looking when our grief eases.😥

I saw the bucket the mouse poison my neighbor uses. She uses the one that is a nerotoxin. If a dog ingests too much of it they can have seisures and it can kill them. I am still shocked she uses it because she has a dog. He is a bigger dog 50-60 pounds. Still... I have made the decision Drew can no longer be in her house unless she is on leash and I can watch her. What I don't think my friend understands is once you put that around your home you will not know where it might end up. Mice will move poison to the spot they want. They also make the poison smell like peanut butter a real problem for dogs. Cats are even more vulnerable than dogs. Drew being so small is more vulnerable too. I think Drew ate something that gave her that black poop and it was not good for her. So I am being even more watchful when on walks for yards that are sprayed with weed killer and food scraps on the ground.

Lisa ... "Once I could see the grief was not the actual person I was grieving for, it had a little less power to drag me in, but it took a long time." I've been giving this statement a lot of thought and I think I understand what you're saying. Thank you.

I'm so glad you understood. What I should have said is that I clung to my grief because I felt if I put my grief aside, I would also be putting aside the person I loved, and I simply couldn't bear it. When I realized that letting the grief begin to subside wasn't a betrayal or a further loss, I able to begin to let the grief go, little by little.

Walked down to the Dollar store to get wrapping paper and a few cards. Now to go watch some TV and maybe work on the crosstitch.

I walked for six minutes in the basement before the leg pain started. This time it was on the left side, above the knee. I did clockwise and counterclockwise loops.

6 minutes is a very short time. Have you had that leg pain checked? Is it muscle or joint? Above the knee suggests muscle, depending on how far above the knee and if that's the case, you may just need to keep walking.

Bananas - Unfortunately, the language want to improve is German, and most German educated people speak English well already.
    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Heather, have you tried seeing if you find a German speaking partner? I participate in an online group with German people speaking English and one speaks excellant English and it's really key for her to do so, but others are of varying skill. Many are good but also want to improve. Of course they might be going from level C1 to C2 very good level) and you from A1 to A2 (beginner level) but some people would presumably be fine with that exchange. Here's a page about the subject with a map! https://howwidelyspoken.com/how-widely-spoken-english-germany/ which seems to be well-sourced.

@Katlia Thanks for the vitamin D reminder! I am think I have a renewable prescription!

Machka, no, I know that works for you. luck you! but not for all. I think we wrote about that a few months back! "The Royal College of Psychiatrists estimates that 50-65% of people treated with an antidepressant for depression will see an improvement, compared to 25-30% of those taking inactive "dummy" pills (placebo). This means that most people do benefit from antidepressants, even if it's sometimes a result of the placebo effect." from - https://www.nhsinform.scot/tests-and-treatments/medicines-and-medical-aids/types-of-medicine/antidepressants and this

"Without antidepressants: About 20 to 40 out of 100 people who took a placebo noticed an improvement in their symptoms within six to eight weeks.
With antidepressants: About 40 to 60 out of 100 people who took an antidepressant noticed an improvement in their symptoms within six to eight weeks.
In other words, antidepressants improved symptoms in about an extra 20 out of 100 people."

Barbara Yikes for the 3 bees! I do need a break and I do go to café often now that they are open, but the stroll to the café isn't doing it for me at present ! I would like a weekend away soon, now that at least outdoor seating is allowed and we are allowed to stay out until 9pm. On June 9 we can go out til 11 and have indoor seating. That might be worth waiting for. I can't get away this week anyway.
