Friday weigh in!
Age: 31
Height: 5’6”
SW: 222 (Feb ‘21)
May SW: 191.8
May GW: 182
UGW 155
May 7: 189
May 14: 187
May 21: 185
May 28: 183.3
I have been feeling really good about my body this week- good enough to move my UGW down to a healthy BMI because that doesn’t seem impossible anymore. 🙌🏽 I’m not in a hurry to get there and I’m trying not to let that change feel like the “finish line” is moved down the road. I’m still hoping to make my original goal of 170 by the end of summer.
I have upped my swimming game this week and have had 2 1-hour swim workouts with another scheduled for today. I’m trying to stick with 3 days swim, 3 days HIIT for the next few weeks and see how that makes me feel.
I have been feeling a bit demotivated in the kitchen this week, so have resorted to more protein shakes and bars than I would like (because expensive!). This weekend, I’m going to put some time into researching a few new recipes and then make a thorough grocery store trip (the last few weeks I’ve been running in and out really quickly which has been fine except that I inevitably forget something that I need). I’m hoping to do more cooking next week!
My big NSV victory this week is that I fit into the most expensive pair of jeans I’ve ever bought! Way back in 2015, I had some store credit to spend and I bought a full price pair of jeans from a store that I would never otherwise shop at. I retired them in early 2017 and haven’t been able to wear them since. I’m SO glad I never gave them away because they still have lots of life left in them and I plan on enjoying them this summer!10 -
Weigh-in time!
Age: 29
Height: 5'3"
SW: 252.8 (11/13/2020)
CW: 227.6 (4/30/2021)
Weigh-Ins
5/7: 227.8
5/13: 230.4*
5/21: 228.4
5/28: 226.2* (D'oh!)
GW for May: 220
GW for 2021: 196
UGW: 144, end of 2022
So, I was 15 minutes into my workout (and 8 oz into my 24oz bottle of water) before I remembered it was Friday and I didn't weigh in again. So, the scale read 226.2, but I logged it here as 225.7 - my workout clothes today are very light, but I for sure drank 8 oz of water, so at least that half-pound is accounted for. Maybe when my clothes are dry I'll weigh them just for funsies and see, I can't imagine they come to more than a quarter of a pound at most though. Friday mornings are so crazy and are about to get crazier since this is my last WFH Friday, so I think starting next month I'm going to move my weigh-in day to Saturday.
So, not a huge loss this month, but I should probably have anticipated that and not set my monthly GW so low, LMAO. I'm pretty pleased with where I'm at, though. I'm getting back into the gym next week and doing Strong Curves for June and July (8-week program), so I'm excited about that. I'm like 90% sure the gym is open on Memorial Day, so I'm going to use that as a "dry run," to see how long it takes to complete the program and if I'll be able to come home and shower/get ready for work or if I'll need to do that at the gym. It's only been about 15 months since I've set foot in a gym, I mostly remember what to do, LOL.
I also definitely need to up my protein intake; the carby snacks of peanut-butter crackers or granola bars are just not cutting it in the afternoons anymore. I slow wayyyy down by 4 PM and I'm ravenous when I get home. I've gotten to the point where my lunch and dinner rotations are consistent enough that I can prelog with the last recipe I used to get a ballpark figure and end up within 50-100 calories of what I estimated when I actually cook, so I threw together an entry for Monday and just added a hard-boiled egg to it, and that instantly bumped up my protein by 10%, so that seems like a good place to start.8 -
Today is my final weigh in day for May! I was worried because I binge ate last weekend (donuts are my weakness) so I thought for sure the scale wasn’t going to budge or go up even.
SW- 231
May 1st- 218.6
May 28th- 213
I am very pleased with Mays progress and feel motivated to keep going. I’ve started taking the instructor classes on my Peloton and it’s really helped me get better at spinning and I love the tired feeling my legs feel afterwards. I have been making side by side comparison pictures from starting weight to now and showing my husband. He can really tell I’m shaping up which is very encouraging to hear. My goal was to be under 215 by the end of May and I reached it! This holiday weekend is also my husband’s birthday so I’m really going to have to exercise some self control as well as use that bike! For June I definitely want to get under 210. I hope everyone else is making good progress in their journeys and I look forward to joining the June group!10 -
Down half a pound this morning. It's within the weights I have achieved before, but since I was trending a couple pounds higher for the last couple months, I'll take it. A lot of the muscle soreness I had Monday has eased off and I'm only ordinary levels of sore (I have fibromyalgia, and arthritis, so there's always some degree of sore and creaking.) Apparently taking a muscle relaxer last night before bed settled the lower back spasm.
The workout today may be on the bike at home, though, because it is totally bucketing down outside, and I really don't want to go out at all.7 -

I am very happy to be so close to my goal weight for the month. I decided to weigh in today because we are going camping for Memorial Day and I won’t be able to weigh in again until Tuesday.
This week I felt very accomplished with my morning walk workout. I’ve been constantly walking 3 to 3.5 miles on weekday mornings which is finally starting to feel a bit easy. Since I don’t want to wake up earlier to get more distance in I decided to see how jogging felt. I was so surprised that I was able to do run/walk intervals of 1min/5min for the entire 3.5 miles! I am so proud of how far I have come, when i started walking the dog in the mornings I could barely make it around the block without feeling tired and sore and now I can do so much more!10 -
NSV: I had a followup with my doctor today. She was very pleased with the results of my blood work. She said my A1C is right where she asks her patients to aim for, then added that mine is actually a little lower than the goal. She believes with the way things are going I will be able to get it even lower and eventaully come off my medication for diabetes. She is not adding any medication aside from the addition of a B12 vitamin. I have to follow up with her in 3 months.
@speyerj I am sorry to hear about your mother's condition. I am glad to hear she perked back a bit and recognized you. I am also sorry to hear about your daughter's break. I hope she heels well and isn't too uncomfortable.
@joryrheanne Congratulations on your loss. You are off to a great start. I am a gardener too.
@girlinkaz Congrats about feeling good about your body and your jeans. That is so exciting!
I love that everyone is doing so well with their progress. You all are very inspirational!

This week has been a bit of a struggle, not exercise or food wise but time of the month hit and my weight went up by over 1lb and it took 4 days before it came back down so I wasn't sure I'd see a loss at all this week. I'm a bit gutted because I was right on target to hit the goal I'd set for myself this month and instead I've missed it by 1lb. Oh well onwards and upwards, hopefully I'll see a whoosh at some point because I've stayed within my calories and stuck with the exercise and hopefully any excess water I'm holding on to will disappear soon.
@speyerj so sorry to hear about your mum and daughter sending hugs your way.

I'm down a pound! The scale actually moved for me! Apparently I'm dropping the water weight from starting to work out.
It's been a little frustrating because I've been losing inches but not pounds.6 -

Update 5/29/2021:
Oh well. I think a little too much salt (and too little water to compensate) this week (my ground beef and ground turkey mix tasted salty to me). My body may just be holding on to extra water to try to dilute the salt.
I am very happy that I am still below my goal weight for the month and I measured and I have lost another inch from my waist. 😁😁 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
This weekend and the upcoming week, I need to re-hydrate myself and so, I will be drinking an oral re-hydration mix to flush my system and make sure that I get enough fluids.
I will weigh once more on Monday for my birthday, so will see if the re-hydration this weekend works.

End Of The Month Weigh I'm
SW 241.2 ( April 3, 2021)
CW: 229.2
I put on 1.6 pounds but I am not disappointed. The way I see it is 1.6 pounds is nothing. If anything I could have put on all the weight I lost in the last 2 months. I am not discouraged, I know where I went wrong and I can fix it. Im holding myself accountable and that's what's important. My goal is to be down to 225 by the end of June. I am 100% in this and I won't let one little set back stop me. So bring it on June!!!!
5 -
Happy to report that I hit my May goal of 196 this morning, well 196.2 but it's right where I wanted to be this month. Tomorrow marks 12 weeks exactly since I started logging again and completely changed my lifestyle after hitting the heaviest weight I've ever been in my life 220lbs. I knew I could lose weight, I've done it before but this time it feels different more permanent as though I've conquered all the issues I've had with food, the emotional eating, binging and using food as a reward, I'm definitely eating to live now where before I was just constantly thinking about food and eating was one of the few things I looked forward to and could control. I'm 6.2lbs away from my halfway point now and hopefully I'll reach that by the end of June. Looking forward to joining all you ladies again next month as we all step closer to our goals.
I also want to say a big thank you to @Spotteddingo for reaching out and supporting me when I hit a bump in the road, its very much appreciated.8 -
My goal this month was to be below 95 kilos( about 208pounds). And I made it last week, and then put a kilo back this week. But I do know what happened, missed 2 swim sessions around my second vaccination, while I waited for side effects! Then had a celebration meal with our first sight of our new granddaughter. Then got a bit snacky . Really quite small things on their own. I need to remember that if we have special days , Ineed to stick more rigidly to plan around them.. Any slight reverse feels scary tho, like I’m about to slide down the big snake and be back at square 1.5
-
@sandramarsh congratulations on the new granddaughter
You will find a rhythm that works for you. You are absolutely right planning is a big part I find. Appreciate what you shared around fear. Always remember food is just food, it doesn't have control over you .You make the choices that make sense for you.
The sum of who you are is so much more than the size you wear or the number on the scale, its all the things people love about you including being a new grandmother
Have a wonderful June Sandra so glad you posted!2 -

Success, struggles and insights: Coming to terms with the fact that I might not have it in me at the moment to lose another 5 or 10 pounds. Maybe instead of pushing myself to lose more, I just need to concentrate on maintaining and focus of staying fit. I don't think it's an accident that as soon as I announced that I was coming off of maintenance and began intentionally eating at a deficit my logging fell by the wayside. I think I'm psychologically resisting going back to a deficit. So, I'm just going to focus on maintaining for the next 6 months and see what happens. I've lot more than 125 pounds. I lost 20 inches off my waist. I went from a size 22W to an 8. I went from a BMI of 42 to 23.5. I am just fine where I am right now. I am a bad *kitten* rower and half marathon runner. I'm fitter than most women in their mid fifties. I think I maintaining is enough for me right now.9 -

I didn’t think I would make my goal this month since it was pretty aggressive but I did! Feeling so much stronger than I did a month ago. I did a lot of good learning this month, learning how to not let injuries or life circumstances throw me for the long haul, learning how to adjust and adapt and stick to my big goals and not sweat the little things, learning how to start every week (and every day!) fresh... and you ladies have been a big part of that!
See you all in June!

@speyerj that seems really wise! Way to listen to your body and be proud of the rockstar you are. Thank you for being open with your journey - it’s so helpful and motivating for many I’m sure, but certainly for me personally.
@sandramarshall200 I totally understand the feeling where any gain or backslide brings with it the fear that you will go right back to where you started! I’ll share the advice that others shared with me when I grapple with that same fear: first, you didn’t put on the weight in a day or even a week, so one bad day (or week) does not have the power to derail all your long term efforts. Secondly, since a huge part of this journey is learning how to maintain and be flexible when life throws curveballs, you can reframe this week as an opportunity to learn how to respond to challenges in the “real world”. That way, instead of feeling discouraged you can be encouraged because now you’ve learned so much! ❤️5 -
@speyerji what I always appreciate about your post is how insightful and aware you are around both your inner and outer body. You are a remarkable woman and I have gleaned so much from you in the last six months. You have helped me tremendously to normalize this whole process . So a heartfelt thank you.
@uyisterl have a happy birthday! Your biggest gift has been the one you have given yourself and I admire all the hard work you have done.
@girlinkaz you have really been working hard and it has paid off, you must be so proud
@kelMee2 you are so consistent in your goals, I appreciate all the positive encouragement you give me . Logging in each day as seeing your posts encourages me. Thank you for being transparent too.
@jazzdesigns you have really done so well keep it up.
@sarahelton87 you know how many regrets I have about ever having passed on my weight issues to you. I am continuing to be in awe of the woman you have become so wise and beautiful and strong. I thank God everyday for you and love you so much. You've got this and thank you for doing this with me too.
To all the other people I haven't covered here I read your posts and thank you again for being real and being marvelous with me this May
This is hard work, both inside and out but so worth it!6 -

I had a follow up with my doctor on Friday. I weighed in the morning before I went and I was 239. I was excited because I met my May goal. Last night we had family movie night, I snacked on some popcorn. Well, today was my weigh in day and it only reflected a .6 loss. Oh well. At first I was bummed but after thinking about it I know weight fluctuates. These things sometimes just happen. I have come a long way since I started this journey a few months ago. I am really proud of all the progress I have made so far. My NSVs by far tell more than a number on a scale does.
My greatest NSV was my follow up appointment with my doctor. She reviewed my lab work with me. My numbers are looking really great. She was very pleased with my A1C. She told me that it is right where she tells her patients to aim for then corrected herself and said mine is actually a little below that. My B12 is low which is a combination of my meds for diabetes and a vegetarian diet. I have started supplementing with a B complex vitamin to get that back up to where it needs to be. At this point in time she is going to hold off putting me on any additional medications such as cholesterol. She believes with the life style changes that I have made my numbers will continue to improve and I will not need medication, including the one she has me on now. I walked out of that appointment feeling like I was on cloud 9!
I am looking forward to a great month of June with all you wonderful ladies!

Well. I have been MIA for a few weeks. I had my son's graduation and had a lot of planning and cooking. I am ready to get back to posting feedback and keeping track of my calories. There were days in the last 2 weeks where I was a little more aware of what I was eating, and others I did not or just didn't care. I have to get back to reality!!1
