Yes, please! Hubby and I actually make cabbage rolls all the time. That's a great idea. I will suggest it to him.
Sent you a FR don't want to clog up the boards here with recipes lol1 -

Sept 24:
I MADE IT TO MY MAINTENANCE WINDOW! And it’s just as wonderful here as everyone says. I feel incredible, I look great, I am SO proud of myself! It feels like it’s been forever and just the blink of an eye at the same time. Sometime this week, I want to get around to writing some things I’ve learned in my nearly 70lb transformation - not today, though, because I have a lot going on.
Plans for this week are to start adding in a few more calories and still log everything. I’d like to have a solid 6 months or so of logging and maintaining before I reevaluate if I want to maintain via the scale and how I feel vs. logging. I felt like toward the last month or so of losing, even though I weighed and logged everything, I knew basically what I could eat and still lose. I’d like to get there with maintenance too but I’m going to give myself a lotttt of time to get there (and, I’d like to drop to the bottom of my window instead of the top before I do anything too drastic).
Chase your dreams, ladies! Change is possible!
Congrats!!! Your transformation is incredible!!!7 -

This month I'll check in on Fridays.

September 17: 215.6
September 24:
A 4lb loss in a week feels like a bit of a fluke, especially for me (I've never been able to lose more than 1.5lbs per week at the most), but I have been seeing 215 and 216 on the scale this week consistently so maybe it will stick around. Next week will be the test. I'm not exercising at all right now because of back pain and have been rigorous with what I'm eating. I dropped my calories down to 1250 to compensate and maybe that kicked it into high gear. Time will tell!
Goals:
🌸 Focus on the 98% of my day that is mental mindset, good habits, and having a plan, rather than the 2% of my day that's the workout
🌸 Log everything
🌸 Stay hopeful
Things I'm looking forward to:
* Autumn. DIE, MOSQUITOES, DIE!!
* I have a big outdoor event coming up in November and I'd like my winter clothes to fit better. I want to be able to wear a sweater under my coat without feeling so uncomfortable.

Well dang, if everybody wants to know 'bout my cabbage rolls I'll just share here I guess, LMAO.
I generally use this recipe from Spend With Pennies: https://www.spendwithpennies.com/easy-cabbage-rolls/ - nota bene, get 2 heads of cabbage, maybe 3 if they're small.
When I prep lunches I make 8 servings - 5 for me, 3 for my husband for the week. These quantities yield enough filling for about 24 rolls. 3 rolls make a nice lunch-sized serving, and that comes out to a bit under 400 calories all told. You could use all beef instead of beef and pork, or swap in some ground turkey to reduce the fat a little bit, but you still want some in there for moisture. I've never tried making this with a meat substitute, so I can't speak to that, but if you decide to do that, please report back! I'm sure you could also bulk out the filling with shredded carrot or mushrooms or zucchini, basically whatever you would do to stretch a meatloaf you could probably do here, though I would advise cooking most of the water out of the vegetables separately before mixing into the filling, to keep your rolls from disintegrating in the oven. Do take care not to leave the cabbage leaves in the boiling water too long, about 3 minutes should do - a bit shorter for the outer leaves, longer for the inner ones.5 -

I take 9 different meds aday mostly for pain, BP, cholesterol & Acid Reflux. The doctors want me to have surgery on my stomach. I don't want that so I'm trying to lose weight myself. I have no support at home.So I've turned here trying to find some. My weigh in days are Monday. 💕

I can tell that I'm back to work and not moving as much as I was when I was off this summer. It's been so hot that I haven't wanted to walk at lunch. By the time I get home, cook dinner for the family, clean up dinner, prepare lunch and clothes for the next work day I'm exhausted and just want to chill out watching TV or play on my phone. I'm really going to have to get it together to try and make my monthly goal. 😥 maybe next week will be better.1 -

Welcome! I don't have much of a support system either -- my husband travels a lot and I have yet to make friends in this new town. Plus, I'm pretty private when it comes to discussing my health (also dealing with serious spine issues and permanent nerve problems following a botched surgery) and anything to do with weight. All that is to say, this group is wonderfully supportive and we're glad you're here! It's become such a great resource for me over the last year.
I definitely believe that losing weight is 80% food, 20% exercise. You can still make tremendous progress through diet alone.4 -

I am sore today! I am taking part in a challenge and Thurs/Fri there was a relay type event, with a series of tasks to be completed. I ended up doing 6 minutes of planks for one of my tasks, and I am reminded of just where all the abdominal muscles are, lol. And shoulder. Drinking lots of water today, and taking it easy, but this definitely made me realize I should add some core strenthening activities to my routine.
I was able to track and stay under my calorie goal every day, although I am planning for today to be an over day (still under for week). My attitude towards cardio started swinging back in the right direction. I also did much better with sleep. Thinking there may be a correlation between the two 😉 I am also trying to boost my NEAT activity, and started walking my girls to school instead of driving them. Ironically, it takes the same amount of time to walk them as drive them since I don't have to deal with the stupid drop-off line, lol. Plus all those extra steps!
Pretty sure I am not going to make my Sept weight goal, but trying not to let it get me down. Aside from the usual goals of tracking & exercising, my goal for this week is to meet the "move" prompts from my fitbit (250 steps) for every hour at least 2 days this week. Right now I get like 3 or 4 out of the 14 on a good day.5 -

Ayyy, there we go! I might-could get in spitting distance of my goal this month. My legs are looking incredible too, so i got that going for me, which is nice.
My long outdoor walk today took me to a big scrub area with two beautiful loops through scrub and flatwoods - there's actually a major road bisecting the area so they built a tunnel under it to connect the two sections, which was neat. I went early, since it was about an hour drive to get there and i knew the walk would be an hour and change based on my typical speed, and that was a good move - i can't imagine walking in the scrub in the full heat and sunlight of the afternoon. The woods would probably be okay though. Only one spiderweb across the path today, unoccupied so i felt okay about destroying it with a stick. I did pass the same jogger about 4 times, maybe he cleared most of the webs for me. It's a nice walking area, just wish i lived closer to it, LMAO.4 -
Pretty excited about this weekend's cooking projects. I've got the filling made for my cabbage rolls, so tomorrow I'll just need to prepare the cabbage, roll 'em up, and bake; and I have some top round marinating right now that's destined to be beef jerky for 52 Weeks of Cooking's "Earth, Wind, and Fire" week (covering the week of 9/17-9/23...do you remember? 🎶) I've basically resigned myself to having the oven on all day tomorrow, which isn't, you know, great, but I'm going to get beef jerky and cabbage rolls out of it so whatever I guess.
I want to shake up the dinner rotation - it's occurred to me that the Venn diagram of ingredients for my bean and sausage pottage and pork goulash is almost a circle, so I want to sort of reconfigure them into a single new dish, which is going to be kind of a riff on pork and beans, which I might serve over rice or pasta, accompanied by roasted asparagus. I figured this dish out in college, using the "saute-then-simmer" function on my cheap Aroma rice cooker and Curley's sauceless pulled pork. The mixture also makes a good topping for baked sweet potatoes, but I don't have any of those right now. My plan is to start by sauteing some diced onion and garlic (which is a good way to start most any savory recipe, TBH), then adding some beans and pulled pork. I have some chunks of pork roast thawing in the fridge that I'm not yet sure how I'm going to cook before shredding with my Kitchenaid. The Instant Pot makes quick work of meat destined for shredding, but since the beans I have are canned and therefore already cooked, I don't think it makes sense to do it all in the Instant Pot. I might just go get some dried beans and save the canned beans as hurricane rations, as I need to go back out to the store tomorrow anyway; I could get sweet potatoes then as well. My IP also really hates when I try to brown/saute things before pressure-cooking, which like, I get it, but it's personally inconvenient to me and therefore it's bullkitten.3 -
For anyone new, I'm 64, 5'4" and a RN, still working full time.
Heaviest Wt-255 lbs (unfortunately my second time.) Had got down to 122 lbs. Took me a year and I kept it off for 5 years but got lazy.
SW-255 lbs 9/14/20, Started my present position and no more micro manager and less stress because of that. Lost 14.5 lbs without trying. I had emergency gall bladder surgery 5/3 and while recuperating, read up on Keto and started being accountable 5/14/21.
My UGW is 122 lbs.
5/3/21 Wt-240.5 lbs
MFP SW 5/14/21- 232.2 lbs
6/1/21-228.8 lbs
7/1/21-222.2 lbs
8/1/21-212 lbs My August Goal was to get below 200 lbs.
9/1/21-200.0 lbs. Missed it by 0.1 lbs! But happy about 12 lbs in a month! Woo Hoo! Can't complain about that.
My goal for September is to lose 5 lbs to 195 lbs. I figure monthly loss will be slowing down sooner than later. I have a NSV. I had a Tibial Plateau Fracture in 10/15. I can come down stairs almost normally alternating steps. Going up I have to do 1 stair at a time and meet it with my other leg. Just 3 days ago I can alternate steps going up now! Its exciting after almost 5 1/2 years since I could walk again!
9/5/21-200.4 lbs. Stayed on track carb/calorie/my exercise routine but the scale drop last time was obviously showing the procedure clear liquid prep I had to do. So explains the slight uptick. Staying with my goal of 195 lbs by October 1, 2021,
190 lbs by November 1,2021.
I did 97 minutes/8 miles this AM on my Elliptical. Longest so far.
9/12/21-198 lbs- Stayed on track this week with Net Carbs and Calories. Doing my Elliptical 99 minutes minutes/8 miles on my 3 days off/week. Have to go shopping for new uniforms today. Can't continue with rolling the waist down on my pants anymore. Down 57 lbs so far!2 -
Unless you open the previous quotes you won't see my progress. So copied today's weigh in.
9/19/21-194 lbs!!!! OMG! I can't believe this. I expected my weight loss to slow down by now. I may need to amend my End Goal! Still staying true to my Net Carbs, Calories and doing my Elliptical 99 minutes/8+ miles, 3 days/week on my days off.

Hello!
I had to do some maths to work out my weight in lb (I work in st/lb). I’ve started and stopped a million times, but after finally making friends that I can go out with and getting a new puppy, I’m properly motivated to lose the weight and start feeling and looking good again!
Height: 5'4”
Age: 28
SW: 271.2 lb (16/09/2021)
CW: 264 lb (20/09/2021)
GW for September: 260 lb
GW for 2021: 200 lb is the dream, but to try and be healthy I’m aiming for 220 lb
UGW: 140 lb (by whenever it happens!)
I’m based in the UK, but I’m happy to be friends with anyone! 🙏🏻8 -

I am shocked I had a loss at all this week - TOM arrived late last week and my weight shot up with it. It's finally starting to return to normal. Hoping for some additional losses this week.4 -

When I raised my calorie level from 1200 to 1340 I can tell as I am definitely not losing as fast. I may just put the goal at 3 lbs a month just to be safe. As long as I am losing something and not gaining, that is really what I am going for. However, I have increased my movement. Hopefully that will help make up for it.
The Doctor wants to find out “why I have dementia”. So I guess I have dementia? The Dr. said it doesn’t have anything to do with my losing weight. He feels like I am being very sensible in the losing weight department. He is starting with a full blood panel. He has 2 plans after that if the blood panel doesn’t show anything significant. So I guess I will keep tracking until “the fog” takes me away. This has been some year, first the cancer and now this. I feel really bad for my hubby of 26 years. His parents are both at “severe dementia”. I can tell that my health and theirs is absolutely stressing him out. I swing between crying and being apathetic. I do like plans though, so I am sticking to the plan! Also, I have bumped up the number of rosaries I do - a true lifesaver really.
Adding the MCT oil has helped a bunch with the constant mental fog, but I have had to swap out carbs for fat - I feel like this is a bonus jeopardy round of weight loss. As in, I have only previously really concerned myself with calories. I have never bothered with my macros per se. But I cannot get the MCT, grass fed beef, avocado to fit in with a 60% carb 20% oil 20% protein diet. And since the oil helps the fog significantly, this is kind of my only option. I see that others have done this, like diabetics etc. It is just weird because I have never had problems with my A1C or carbs before. So the macros are looking weird at 30% carb 50% oil and 20% protein. It is difficult to be so outside what I consider a normal looking diet, but it is for my brain. I guess I am supremely fortunate I have zero symptoms of heart disease, because I don’t even know what I would do then - choose between heart health or brain health? Horrible choice.
@sandielewis2001 Keep at it, hoping for onederland for you!!
@Deanner03 Glad you were able to stop playing tag with that pound!!
@goal06082021 Thank you for the recipes. Also, the poor guy who took out the spider webs for you, “Thanks random guy!!”
@wanderinglight Wonderful loss! Maybe it was one of those whoosh moments, they do happen.
@girlinkaz You look wonderful! It is awesome that you are at maintenance!! Way to keep at it!!
@pippajlea Welcome! A puppy is a great motivator!
Ladies ya'll are slaying September, keep at it! It ain't over till it's over!!9 -
@justanotherloser007 oh my goodness, did you piss off a witch somewhere or something? I can't imagine what you're going through. I don't remember where in the world you said you are, if you ever shared, and this is maybe a super long shot but if dementia IS what's going on...were you anywhere near Ground Zero immediately after 9/11, like the actual day back in 2001, by any chance? There are a number of people, mainly first responders who worked in the immediate aftermath, that are now showing up with dementia-like symptoms in their forties and fifties.2
-
I am in Houston, Tx and was here for 9/11. I wonder if the toxins of 9/11 played a part in their dementia? Or if it was just the whole trauma of it all? Huh, I didn't know that. For me, maybe a contributing factor was the seizures that began in my 30's, or my thyroid going AWOL when I was 21. Brains are sensitive creatures, and seizures are the reason I haven't been able to drive for the past few years. They aren't real bad, but every time I would "wake up" face planted on the floor I would wonder how my brain was doing. Also, t-3's evidently have a part to play. And once my thyroid went out, I have never got that stupid thing to work right. I am pretty sure that is why I never conceived. I think the "stick to the plan" thing is a coping mechanism. At this point I will take it. I just need to never, ever multi-task and constantly remind myself what I am doing.
Thank you very much for responding @goal06082021. I don't even know who to talk to about these things. Most of my friends are so distressed they do that "thing". The thing where they freak out and don't want to talk because they don't know what to say. Only my much older friends 75yo+ are even willing to talk to me a little. I guess, they have a bit of experience with it.7 -
Hello, I don't think I've posted here before. My goal is to get to the 200s by the end of the month. 10 days left....it has been a very slow process but I have 3 pounds to go. FOCUS!8
-
@justanotherloser007
I don't have Dementia, but I can feel for you because I suffer from Brain Fog brought about from the Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have locked my keys in my car or forgotten them so many times that now when I leave the house I have to wear them around my neck. I also lock myself out of the house quite often forgetting my keys. We have hidden house keys outside for me, but then I forget where they are. I forget things a lot. It's a terrible feeling, I constantly have to double check things. I'm sorry that you have Dementia, but I'm hoping its the reversible kind, that would be a Blessing.
Your doing great by the way with a 2 pound loss2 -
Hi, I've been reading posts in this group for a long time and, in the past, I actually wrote several posts that magically disappeared before I posted, so I took that as a sign and didn't try again until today. So many of you long-time posters have given me hope as I watch you lose a pound or two a week and after awhile, there you are...down 20-30-100+ pounds. You are so patient and persistent! You are all very inspiring. So much so, that I decided to jump in and start watching my numbers go down, too. I gained the pandemic 15 in the past year and am stuck there now. I lost 25 in 2013 and kept it off until the summer of 2020 when I had to cancel 3 major trips, couldn't see my grandkids up close for almost a year, and quit all of my social groups. I didn't respond well, obviously! Excuses, excuses...I'm done with that. I have learned from you that this losing game isn't an overnighter but takes weeks, months, and even years one pound at a time. Apparently accountability is a key component and I'm ready for it. So... thank you for being here!

Hey @jeepkat1 we can be the Fog Sisters!! If I could remember more of the movie "The Fog" I would quote it here lols. Go @Nebslp, you can do this! I am personally tortoising this journey! I may be going slow, but I am getting there. I had a long way to go and now I have less long to go (started out with about 150 to lose now have 67 to go) . I am looking forward to maintenance, and some lucky ladies are already there! Someday, if I live long enough, I will be there too. 1 year to go plus a few months. Depending on how that last bit goes, and how aggressive I get at the end. I always hated sprinting, but I might make an exception when January 2023 rolls around. We do have some rabbits around here, and I wish them super extra success too!3
-
@justanotherloser007 Thanks for the encouragement. It's less lonely when you know you're working with others who understand the struggle. You are doing amazing with your weight loss!!! You'll reach your goal.
@pdd1216 I'm working on losing 3 pounds by the end of September just like you. I think we've got this!!!
I need to start working out again. I feel SO old! I quit lifting weights and even walking regularly a year ago so it's time to make it a regular part of my day again. Age has never defined me and I've always felt that it was just a number until this 15 pounds and lack of activity got me down this year. My grandkids used to tell me I wasn't old because I could do so many things with them and it's time to bring that back. Hopefully I'll be able to travel again soon so I have to be able to lift that luggage and climb those hills. I know I can turn things around again though. It's a matter of will...and no EXcuses! I thank you in advance for letting me share and keeping me accountable.3
