Do we have a new round started? I can't find it.0

@matratazola When you say low carb isn’t working, are you counting total or net and how low is your limit? My dad got a low carb booklet back in the 60’s before the concept of “net” which said to cut carbs to 60g. That isn’t low enough for me so I aim for 25-30.1
-
@chublet25 Be happy! It took me 4 MONTHS to get through to 14x.x bracket. Since I was doing low carb/keto people told me to hang in there because if I wasn’t losing, something was healing on the inside.2
-
@quiltingjaine, thumbs up to that pocket carb counter book. I owned one.

@tiabirdie56 😁 since I never throw anything away, it’s probably still here somewhere. I know it was 1967 or 68 that Dad got that.2

10/10 117.0 AF Spent 5 hours in quilt guild meetings yesterday, I was exhausted and hungry when I got home. Ate some leftover pork roast and 5 nickel sized keto cookies.
10/11 117.5 AF
10/12 117.5 AF GREEK salad w/gyro meat last night
10/13 117.0 H/A at 4AM couldn’t go back to sleep, got up at 5:45, H/A gone at 6:20. Spent yesterday evening cutting things for teacher daughter - that may have aggravated neck arthritis.
10/14 117.5 Quilt guild meeting tonight.
10/15 118.0 AF Going to the Renaissance fair today. Lots of walking!
10/16 119.5 AF It’s all good. RenFair food doesn’t give the best choices. A *kitten* load of carbs, more than 200% of my step goal. A decent amount of water. I’m sure this will be down in a few days. No TMI x 3
10/17 119.0 Coming down but going to visit BFF and her SO today. They are making lunch which I’m sure will not be low carb. I have mixed feelings about getting together for many reasons.
10/18 120.0 TOTALLY expected. Finnish meatballs, noodles, pan gravy, and salad. Glad I was AF and OMAD at least, “lunch” didn’t happen until 4. Less than 30 oz of water before we got home at 7PM, less than 2000 steps for the day, 4+ hours total in the car🤦♀️7 -

18/10. . . 142.0 . . . . . . . The first time I have lost less than 3 pounds in a round! ARGH! But I guess I should expect loss to slow down as I weigh less, so I am trying not to get upset. And I should have done more exercise on the weekend. But one of my horses has come up lame, and I am fighting depression (got a doctor's appointment today, at last!) and feeling overwhelmed with all that I have to do at work. Hope everybody is happy with how round 165 panned out and I'll see all of you, hopefully, in round 166!
Sweetheart don't be upset! You have been losing really fast, over 80lbs in 9 months! You also met your goal for this round so that's fantastic! I should imagine you're at or close to a healthy weight now, well done, that's incredible! I'm worried that you're struggling with depression and by putting pressure and stress on yourself to lose weight at such a fast rate you could be making it harder for yourself. Maybe consider taking a little maintenance break or reducing your deficit next round and give yourself a chance to recover a bit. Losing weight can be really hard on your physical and mental wellbeing and losing at an aggressive rate can cause long term health issues. Please don't think I'm being a busy body, I know you didn't ask for advice but I'm just a little concerned xx
Thank you for your kind words! I have been going hard at it, with no let up, and am so determined to reach at least 130 pounds by the end of the year. I intend to kick back over Christmas and eat 2K calories per day, possibly more. And then I'll get back on the bandwagon and finish 'er up. But I did eat more and do less this round and I am indeed less tired. I'll take it a bit easy next round too I think. Vet's coming out tomorrow afternoon to see to my horse; fingers crossed she's ok. It's ok if she's not going to be sound (she's already not sound!) but I don't want her to be in pain. I got registered for some group therapy for stress, through work, and I'm hoping my doctor has something helpful to offer this afternoon.

10/12 154.8 dad discharged from hospital today. Put on hospice & moved to group care home. Horrible experience so far. Husband & I extremely stressed. May change hospice agency.
10/13 154.8 🙂 over 10,500 steps. However nightmare I’m living is continuing. Hubby & I got no sleep last night as we spent the time trying to get food, medicines & supplies that hospice should have had ready. Also discharge instructions got changed by new dr (hospitalist) that didn’t know anything about dads complex case. Hospital was supposed to send important supplies & food with him & didnt. Takes time to get it in.
10/14 154.8 🙂 nightmare got worse yesterday. Yesterday, dads food came in about 2am. Jtube clogged about 5am. Had to choose either ER or let him go.., Chose ER. While there, my mom had to be rushed to ER. She’s in a different city. Different hospital. I stayed with dad while husband went to be with her.
Dads tube was cleared!!! He returned to group home at about 8:30pm
Mom not good. Non responsive. She had phizer Covid booster day before. Also has uti. So mental status could be from either. Fever can be from either.
I went to see her late about 1:30am She is admitted but no room yet.
We only got 1 hr sleep that night.
10/15 155.2. 🙂 I’m happy it wasn’t a larger gain. This round & the last one is the best I’ve done under extreme stress! I may have more of a gain tomorrow though. Got a little more sleep last night. 3-4 hrs. Last night after work went to see mom. They had just moved her to a room after 2 days & 1 night in ER. I wish that I had known as I would have brought stuff & spent the night. She was completely unresponsive. 😢 my husband has been so wonderful! 🥰😎🙂 oh yeah, something awesome!!! I worked late last night before I went to the hospital. My next door office neighbor has been wanting me to join her Ladies singing group that meets in the foyer in our office building on Thursday nights. She leads this & they’ve been doing this for many years. She asked me if I sing or could carry a tune 1 day in the hallway when I met her. Told her I love to sing but don’t know that I’m any good. She said she’d love to hear me & said she’d teach me to breathe etc. & train me if I need it for free. So friended each other & then She heard me singing with/to my parents on my Facebook. Plead with me to join her group, etc. well, last night they had just arrived & I was about to leave the building & she stopped me & asked me to stay for just 2 minutes before going to the hospital. They sang a song just for me before even warming up & it was just so beautiful & special. Like barbershop quartet but about 7 women. She conducted & sang too. They were absolutely fantastic & I would love to join this. They were so sweet to perform just for me. An ending to the nightmare I’m living right now?! I cried when I left as I walked to my car. How sweet was that!!! 💕💕
10/16 154.4 Mom was better, today. Was discharged from hospital. Back in ALF. She’s on scary blood thinner now for the clot. Xaralto.
10/17 154.4 dad in crisis today. Blood sugar way too high. Had to have indwelling catheter put in. He had retained all day. Now he has 3 tubes + on oxygen. Low grade fever. Waay too much drainage from peg tube. Don’t know why. Youngest brother flew in late last night.

@Elbee1
When I've read what your dad and mom are going through and the stress you are under, I was wondering whether you had siblings to help with the decisions you're having to make, and just to lean on at times to relieve you and your husband. I now see where you wrote that your brother flew in last night. I'm glad you have additional support. I'm so sorry your family is going through this.5 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

10/9 / 204.4 / Did well with my first day at my dad's yesterday. I love being with people who you feel safe with (meaning he is completely supportive and doesn't judge my choices or try to food push). A bit harder to get my normal exercise in here but that's okay - just scaling back the food accordingly. Happy to see this lower weight wasn't just a fluke yesterday!
10/10 / 206.4 / My dad's town has two take-out options and the favorite when we're here is always Chinese. I tried to order as best I could and eat reasonably but you can't stay away from the sodium gain afterwards. We are going to Thanksgiving dinner 1 of 2 today.
10/11 / 206 / Had good control during Thanksgiving dinner #1 yesterday. One more to get through today and then I'm back on the road tomorrow heading for home. A bit out of my exercise routine while traveling which is fine but it will feel good to get back to it.
10/12 / 205.6 / Got through Thanksgiving dinner #2... enjoyed the yummy food without overdoing it 11 hour drive home today, will hit the Peloton bike when we get home.
10/13 / 204.6 / Back home and I started the day with a ton of exercise.. back to work Friday so taking advantage of these last couple of days to move my body as much as I can.
10/14 / 205 / Went for a nice long walk to my eye doctor yesterday, rode the Peloton, and ate all my meals at home. Great to be back home. There's still time to meet my GW for this round!
10/15 / 207.4 / Had an amazing hike for our last day off yesterday. Back to work today.. woke up at 230 am and couldn't get back to sleep so after tossing and turning I got up, weighed in and got to work on the bike and with some yoga. Given I'm off schedule this weird weight fluctuation likely makes sense. Will have a good day ahead! Happy Friday
10/16 / 205.4 / First day back to work yesterday. I managed to get through the day despite the poor night of sleep. Couple more days to make some progress for this round!
10/17 / 207 / Not the progress I meant lol. Had a great day yesterday, well over 11K steps plus yoga, food was within calories. Sodium was likely high. Unfortunately unless I have a big whoosh I'll be gaining this round, but I'll just keep on working the plan!
10/18 / 205.4 / Gain of 0.6 this round. Looking forward to round 166 (my third round!) See you there.2 -

I use carb manager and MFP in conjuction and stay under 20gr which is super low, but I don't know if it's net or total carbs as I just trust the apps, I'm wondering if it's actually not too low, 25-30 seems much more attainable !

10/18 154.4 I’ve been getting over 8,000 steps the last few days. Sometimes over 10,000 & even over 11,000. My dad in ER again today. This time being hospitalized. Getting harder & harder to hang onto my job. Oldest brother, youngest brother & my husband handled everything today. It is my turn to focus on my job.
This round I met my goal… even if barely.
Lost .4 pounds this round. Lol.

Had a wonderful BBQ yesterday which was very nice. My first one in 2 years!! I was proud of myself. I had a premier protein shake that morning late around 11:00 am and enjoyed myself in moderation and managed not to gain weight.
10/11 386.4
Monday is my official weigh-in day. I lost 4.4 lbs. since last Monday. I am going to keep that as my weigh-in day in case I go back to WW. Yesterday was ok, maybe I gained from Saturday, and I did have some high sodium, but I was not over calories, so I am good. Going to get in a workout today. Hope all is well. Stay safe Everyone.
10/12 386.4
Yesterday was ok. I did not have a chance to work out. Not feeling it at all this week for the workouts. I will try to push myself. I am not even getting my step goal in so far 0/2. Good night
10/13 385.0
Happy with loss finally! So busy today but I am at least going to shoot for getting in my step goal today which is 5500 and do at least one 10 min spurt of something. (Bad knees but I modify and move forward)
10/14 385.0
Yesterday was crazy busy! Multi-tasking all day long lol but I made it without over-eating. Stuck to my computer though. Had so much to do at work. I work remotely most days now which is the result of pandemic. I went to Costco this morning to get in some steps before work and do some shopping. I will get in my steps today for sure. Already over 4500 steps… I did this also because I eat out once a week and chose today to go to Chipotle which is very high in sodium. I will still be under calories but may not see any movement tomorrow again on scale which is fine. I am drinking water and moving more today. So, we will see. Tomorrow morning I plan to get up early and wash my car if weather permits to get in some activity. Thanks for posts and support! I am enjoying the challenge. I have had time to read some of post since I have been posting and click "reactions" so that is something. Hope all is well. Please be well and stay safe.
10/15 387.8 – 5558 steps day before
10/16 386.0 – 6047 steps yesterday
Happy to have gotten in my steps 2 days in a row. Yesterday I went to the grocery store and did not buy any sweets. I needed fruit. I only had one apple left. I did not drink enough water Thursday. I will drink my quota today and did great yesterday with water. I need to get my steps in again today if I want to get close to 382 goal by Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!!
10/17 386.0 – did not reach step goal or do workout yesterday
Was under calories. But overate today. I probably will not lose weight this round. We will see you in the morning. Not sweating it. On to the next round. The weekends are always challenging for me.
10/18 387.8
gained 2 pounds this round. Will do better next round for sure.

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.*One of my major goals is to get my BMI under 40 (260 weight) so I can have surgery on my knees *[color]2 -
