Give me 10 Days Round 167
Hey All, Some of you may remember me from a year ago. I first joined GM10D Oct 1, 2020, along with 3 other challenge groups. I stayed in all four until into March 2021 when I was in maintenance and found my writing maintenance posts a confusing action. Daily healthy choices remained consistent until the summer when we spontaneously bought a townhouse to downsize into. We then suddenly had to deal with unplanned preparations for selling our large home of 28 years. It was not without stress (it has actually been a lousy experience). During those months, I hit my lowest weight from stress and no time to eat, then over these last two months I am seeing my bad habits returning, and weight is creeping up and structured exercise is non-existent. I saw the end in sight with our home sale closing of Nov 4, and tried coming back to MFP on Oct 15th (day began wonderfully like I had never slipped up). That day then ended with dealing with my father breaking his hip mid-stride, the ambulance and surgery, and now rehab. My mother is alone 30 minutes away and she gave up driving months ago. I turned 60 on the 26th. That is all the short version. I could write a book at the moment.
Soooo……… I am back here and hoping a daily check-in and weigh-in helps me to remember myself and healthy choices in all this. I hope 2021 has been good to you all.

Day/Weight/Comment
10/29: 206.4 56 net carbs yesterday, step goal achieved, and Pelo ride done. Why the uptick? Bodies work in mysterious ways. 🤷♀️ I know it’s nothing I did, so it’s all good. It may be lingering hormones. I’m so close to that 1 in front of the number that I can taste it, so I’ll keep pressing forward.

10/29 - 219.8 WHAT?! I will say my body was just running through water yesterday. I kept drinking more and more throughout the day. I went home after work and worked out. Set a new 30 minute PR on the Peloton. Woke up this morning and did 40 more minutes. So we're seeing 2 workouts between yesterday's weigh-in and today. First time seeing teens!

Ok, well, at least my average isn’t rising. The floor has taken longer than planned because the guy’s assistant won’t show up for work, but hopefully he can wrap it up today and we can reassemble the house an$ eat normally again. I’ve decided that since books, including cookbooks, and other stuff are all out of their homes, it’s a good time to “Marie Kondo” a lot of things!

Day, Weight, Comment
10/29 - 146.0 - Sometimes I wonder if my body is playing tricks on me. A sudden unexplained gain that just so happens to fall on the end of the round? Followed by a much more expected weight one day later? Hmmmm, suspicious. Oh well, moving on. Cold and super windy here these last few days. Haven't taken the pup because the last time I did, I nearly got blown away. Hopefully today is calmer and I don't have to coordinate between work meetings to get outside for one. Still feeling okay, BF still sounding horrible. Doing my best to keep up with my tea/supplement regime. Reishi, ashwagandha, and cinnamon in mornings, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and cayenne in evenings. Gut boosting, inflammatory reducing, and immune assisting. Zinc and a Vit C/D on hand as well if I feel my diet isn't sufficient to provide those.

10/29 …..186.6 ….. (trend weight 187.2) A nice drop after a day with very careful meals. However, the snacks weren’t good. Once on that cycle the cravings are horrid. All the more reason to stick to our guns and STAY AWAY from things not in the plan. Happy to see this drop. TMI helped too. Travel today, unfortunately. Seriously low on tile for the bathroom reno so away I go this morning. Back this evening by 6:00 I hope. Lunch out. Dinner at home is the plan.

10/29: 157.2 - Did Jazzercise at the in-person location for the first time in 17 months. Sucked wind through my mask the whole time. Will probably go back to virtual class for a while more. Ate a little bit below calories - which I am definitely not trying to do - since we were at a hockey game and didn’t want to eat junk food just to fill calories.

Goal for this round: Maintain weight while continuing to focus on strength training and running
Previous days 10/29 Did a 5.5 mile run this morning at a slower pace than yesterday and then did a shorter strength workout during lunch than I normally do because I had a meeting. I still did all the normal exercises but tweaked them by increasing the weight on a couple and decreasing the reps. It all still kicked my butt, so that’s a plus. I didn’t weigh this morning, I actually forgot to until I was all dressed and didn’t feel like dealing with that…especially after putting my compression socks on. Ha!
Food has been good today: breakfast was a warm peanutbuttery protein drink that was reminiscent of a thick/rich hot cocoa. It had my usual protein powder, peanut butter, inulin, water and the mushroom powders. It kind of happened accidentally, I was going to add ice to it but tasted it before adding the ice and realized it was yummy and I wasn’t really in the mood for something cold. Lunch was a Trader Joes frozen Indian dish (Misal Curry…super filling for only 420 calories: it had a reddish rice and sprouted mung beans and chickpeas for the protein)….now I’m figuring out my snack…I want something but just not sure what. Dinner will be mac and cheese made with the FiberGourmet pasta. Yumm! Happy Friday all!

Mushrooms are amazing for immunity! We always have the Thrive 6 mushroom blend (Reishi, lion's mane, cordyceps, chaga, turkey tail, and maitake) by FreshCap on hand...I've been taking it daily lately. My husband will take it when he feels like he's getting sick and sometimes it completely nixes or lessens whatever he had. So kudos to you for taking Reishi and the other concoctions too! I hope it continues to help!2 -

Yes! I'm about an hour west of Austin. It's still quite windy here, so beware if it keeps coming your way! No walk because gusts are horrid and unpredictable. But it is warmer today while I'm running errands for which I'm thankful. I don't handle cold well. It's still hoodie weather for me, for sure!2 -

I get a couple blends from Apothekary(.co)! Chill the F* Out blend (yes, asterisk and all is the actual name) has Reishi, Ashwagandha, Cacao (gives it a warm chocolatey feeling in tea), peppermint, and coconut. That's my morning tea.
Evening is a shot of their Follow Your Gut blend which has turmeric, astragalus, coconut, ginger, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. I can't quite handle it in tea so I just heat up some extra water (dissolves better in warm/hot water) in a whiskey glass, pinch my nose, and gulp!
I have a few other blends from them as well, but those two I know are good for immunity and gut health (which has an impact on immunity) so I've been focused on them the most. I would love to get more of their blends and individual mushroom powders. I found their Do Not Disturb blend really does help calm me for sleep quite a bit. The more natural I can get, the better (: Now if only BF would take some.... he tried Do Not Disturb once and hated it. Now he won't take any of them hahaha oops.2 -

Now he won't take any of them hahaha oops.
Oooo, I’ll have to check that brand out! It sounds like a solid regimen.
Haha, I feel like that’s something that my husband would end up being like!

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.*One of my major goals is to get my BMI under 40 (260 weight) so I can have surgery on my knees*
