It seems that a really good long sleep really helped you! Food for thought.

@dawnbgethealthy I know that (according to new science) the optimum sleep is 7 hours. Oh how I long for that! But most nights, 4 hours and most of the time I am 100% refreshed. I wish I could say that feeling refreshed means it's okay, I've had enough sleep. HOWEVER, I think the body needs more no matter how I feel in the morning. I hate to resort to asking doc for sleeping pills just to get there. My hairdresser said Melatonin works wonders for her. She takes it a couple of times per week. I'm also wondering about quality essential oils (Lavender). Any opinion from anyone who would like to chime in would be great! BTW, I've already cut coffee early but..... not always chocolate. I try to stick to one square of 90% cacao dark chocolate or Sugar-Free chocolate but they still contain caffeine. But it doesn't feel like a caffeine problem. I'm just not tired.

@dawnbgethealthy - You are on a roll! Keep up the wonderful downward trend. What you've been doing is working and just starting to catch up with you.

So this came with my new scale. (Accuweight is the brand). Kind of surprised to see this. Common sense I guess.
It talks about muscle being heavier, but muscle burns fat.
    Thought that I would share.

I honestly do try not to get upset with the fluctuations, but they still bother me.

I think that we all should pin it on the wall in front ot the scales :)

I have never been a good sleeper. Since I was 7 years old. Part of it was FOMO from having older siblings and I think that I forced myself to fight through tiredness.
I do take a sleeping pill once per week, usually the night before the beginning of my work week. I get at least one good night of sleep lol, and hopefully set my clock for the rest of the week.
I have tried Melatonin and other things in the past. I have heard people talk about some sort of gummy on other forums, but I can't remember what they are called.
Yes, sleep helps weight loss I believe.

@dawnbgethealthy That's what my hairdresser uses. Some sort of gummy. I'll have to find out the brand.

    Nikki, 52 years old, 5'6"
WL history: ups and downs for years
Exercise: treadmill walk 5x/week (actual exercise not allowed yet, hope to be released from restrictions at the end of December)
Goal: truly give up gluten and avoid it (not allergic, just pick up many pounds of fluid for days)
Goal: put myself on the things-to-do list, and the take-care-of list
Goal: lose it and maintain it
    Ultimate Goal weight: 145
6/7/2022 goal (next oncologist appointment): 177 (-20lbs from 12/7/21 appt)
    December goal: 195

12/1 - 196.0 was a sticker shock this morning. A lot of inflammation still from surgery last month so my 12/31 goal is slightly possible but not very confident. I'm not shifting it though. Onward and downward!
12/2 - 195.4 first day back to work (remote) was too long and I'm starting the day exhausted. Not sure why I worked 12 hours but so much to do and I'm running out of year. Didn't walk yesterday so my plan is a lunch treadmill walk today.
12/3 - weighed but forgot to post
12/4 - weighed but forgot to post, I did walk on the treadmill for 40m
12/5 - 195.6 This week was rough and a definite reminder that even though I'm not in pain and back to work, that I'm far from healed. Simply exhausted by the end of the day. Today I'm meal prepping breakfast and lunch (egg cups and lasagna soup), dinners for the week will be hunk o'meat + veg. If I was smart I'd go walk now as it's 12:40p and I'm waiting on the soup to simmer, and then work for the afternoon.
    Week 1 loss - 0.4 from 12/1
    12/6 - ?
    12/7 - 197.6 oncologist appointment
12/8 - 197.4 yesterday's oncologist appointment went well but was told that I need to take control and drop some pounds. My goal is 177 by 6/7/22, my next appointment. That's 20 pounds, 24 weeks. I have got to get my motivation and big girl panties firmly in place. I'm still limited to walking after my surgery but I haven't been doing very much of that. So a daily walk and better food choices is my future; not sure when I'll be released for more activity but maybe January.
12/9 - 195.8 so hard to figure out my weight, I really need to find a trend app so I can ignore the ups and downs and just watch the trend. OK, looking now for one.
12/10 - 196.0 (196.2 trend) - couldn't find Happy Scale so downloaded Libra Weight Tracker, but Libra counts in kgs and libres, and there isn't an option to switch it to pounds. So I know if I convert my 196 kilograms I'll be in completely shock and melt-down! LOL. Got my hair cut this morning, will have a lunch walk, and dinner out with my hubby (plan will be to order meat + veg).
    12/11 - 195.6 (196.18 trend)
12/12 - 195.2 (196.07 trend) was hoping for lower this morning but it's still down so I'll take it. Dinner is beef roast and broccoli, and a glass of wine.
    Week 2 loss - 0.4 from 12/5
12/13 - 195.8 (196.2 trend) I added some gluten-free pasta to dinner last night, and I spiked slightly today. I think there's a trend with gf items. Dinner is baked chicken leg quarters with cauliflower, the family can finish the pasta.
12/14 - 196.0 (196.18 trend) Off to the dentist bright and early this morning but had a rather disappointing weigh-in before I left. Dinner is meatloaf & broccoli, after a treadmill walk. Had a glass of wine too.
12/15 - 195.6 (196.12 trend) Treadmill walk today. Dinner is...well...not really sure. Probably a hunk o'meat + veg. That's a pretty common menu around here. Ordered 3 boxes of 40 lb chicken thighs from a friend with meat connections, it's being delivered today so I'll need to repack it and throw it in the deep freeze. We are definitely not vegetarians/vegan around here in rural Indiana.
12/16 - 197.0 ?? (trend 196.08) Consistently walking, good food, no idea why the jump. Today is my 4-week surgical check-up. Was warned at the 2 week appointment that my weight and activity restrictions won't be lifted at this visit so am trying to keep that in mind so I'm not disappointed. I really want to do more than walk though. Dinner is something using chicken thighs + broccoli.
12/17 - 195.0 (trend 196.05) Surgeon cleared me for 15lbs and can do more cardio (bike/elliptical). Even said I can start running again as long as I take it slow. Obviously I need to pay attention to my energy level, which is still pretty low. I know that resuming running will help with the scale, but I could also sabotage my healing, so at this point I think I'm going to stick with walking. Will reevaluate in January and perhaps pick up some then. So if I start talking about running, remind me that I'm not going to do it until at least 1/1! LOL No walk today though, not feeling awesome after my surgeon appointment.
12/18 - 196.6 (trend 196.13) Still not feeling awesome after surgeon appointment, not planning on walking today either. Had risotto last night w/ scallops, yummy meal at one of my favorite restaurants, but scale up this morning.

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 61 years old and from the Midwest USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
    250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s

Starting Weight (from Nov 30th): 189.2
    Goal: 184.2 (Five lb Loss)

**************************************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME************************************

    12/01…...188.7…..(Trend Weight 189.5)
    12/02.…..188.2…..(Trend Weight 189.4)
    12/03.…..189.8…..(Trend Weight 189.5)
    12/04.…..188.8…..(Trend Weight 189.4)
    12/05.…..189.4…..(Trend Weight 189.4)
    12/06.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 189.4)
    12/07.…..190.4…..(Trend Weight 189.5)
12/08.…..190.4…..(Trend Weight 189.6)….. I’m a hot mess. Now I’ve ran my glucose up and I am feeling like sheer crap on top of it all. I’m making changes today to get to a better place. More paperwork and business for my brother is due today. I don’t even feel like I can raise a pencil to paper! It’s the food choices.

12/09.…..190.4…..(Trend Weight 189.7)….. Same weight for 3 days in a row but my trend weight is creeping up 0.1 each and every day. I still haven’t made the changes I need to. I am not eating my meals proper, then I’m snacking too much at night turning snacks into meals. Cravings are all over the place. Back and forth from salt to sweet. Glucose numbers still up, even with new meds. I am not even giving them a chance to work. Self-sabotage is putting it mildly. I promise myself everyday that it will change today, and then I begin the tasks for my brother’s death and I either lean on food for comfort, or I get too busy to plan for success. I suppose the first part of success and change is recognition, so here I am standing at the confessional podium. Better planning is next and success (while currently elusive) is mine to take.

12/10.…..189.8…..(Trend Weight 189.7)….. I went up to the store yesterday and bought some sugar-free Russell Stovers individually wrapped candy. When the sweet cravings hit me in bed, I had 3 pcs. Tonight I will move it to 2 pieces. Cutting out the night time sugar binge seems to have helped the scale. I’m still too much of a mess since the death to really focus as I should, but any change will help at this point. Today I will choose a better breakfast also.

12/11.…..190.6…..(Trend Weight 189.8)….. Waited too long for dinner due to unexpected company over. Then I overate. Dinner at 11:30 pm.

12/12.…..192.0…..(Trend Weight 190.0)….. Out to dinner with a friend who helped move out some of my brother’s furniture as we empty the house. Pasta and a shared dessert in the same meal made for a horrible scale reading today.

12/13.…..192.2…..(Trend Weight 190.2)….. Small fluctuation with no TMI. Travel today for building supplies and product returns won’t help. I’ll not be home until later tonight after dark.
12/14.…..191.6…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. The Covid booster hit me hard yesterday while I was out of town. Got home and stayed in bed for 12 full hours. I was lethargic and dizzy. Today it is all gone and was well-worth the tiredness. Nothing wrong with a little extra sleep anyway. Today is hair appointment, then all things Christmas related.

12/15……190.4…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. Snacks not so good but meals were on point. Happy to see the scale down by 1.2. I have a lot of catching up to do.

12/16……189.2…..(Trend Weight 190.3)….. Chocolate cream pie but otherwise meals and quantities were good thus the drop in weight. Yesterday was a very busy day full of appointments and commitments. Fit in a little wrapping and a bit of cleaning. I hope to do more today around the house.

12/17.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 190.2)….. Well, I guess I should be happy that the trend weight is still trickling down. It’s giving me a chance I probably don’t deserve. I can do better.

12/18.…..191.2…..(Trend Weight 190.3)….. I’m disappointed and frustrated as yesterday was a better dietary day than I’ve had in awhile. I also moved a lot chasing a toddler grandson around most of the day. No TMI is likely the reason but it still is so disheartening! Shopping today over 100 miles away each way. Restaurants and car sitting won’t help but there will be walking in the stores.

12/19.…..190.0…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. A small drop on the scale after the way I ate yesterday during my travels and city Christmas shopping? I’m sure that lunch and dinner from yesterday (over-abundance) will rear it’s ugly head on the scale in the coming days. It was nice to (mainly) finish my shopping and spend time in the city with my daughter!
