Checking in again...
Well, yesterday was a planned drink day but I admit I overdid it. No idea how much, but it was too much.
On the upside, today was a planned drink day too, but I decided to go AF to atone for yesterday's indulgence. The old me would have drowned my sorrows tonight. Instead I had a nice AF beer and a glass of water.
Running total
9 drink days
1 "just one" day
9 AF days

Posting for accountability. 26th consecutive day AF.
12/25 - 12/31 AF
1/1 - 1/19 AF
Only 3 cans of Diet Coke again today. I ran to the store and got Diet5 Cranberry juice and did not buy any Diet Coke. Only a few cans left in the house. We'll see if I can hold out. Last winter there was a Diet Coke supply chain issue here and I once went to 4 stores in search of it. The struggle is real!
@CowGirlsLikeUs86...awesome job! I gave up 250 calories of alcohol a day and added it back in chocolate so no scale benefit here!7 -
Good morning All!
Besides the chocolates, snacks or goodies that are screaming to replace those drinking calories you are giving up. If indeed you want to eat to fill in the alcohol loss TRY to do it with healthy food. Good food calories vs empty drink calories are a win win. Even if you do go over your daily calorie intake.
Food for thought 😁
@GiveHerGrace down to three cans is getting there no matter how you look at it. Less is less in the Diet Coke struggle as well.
AF DEC 25 - JAN 19
26 day streak

@GiveHerGrace Nice work on consuming less Coke! Less is less!
@MissMay I agree with replacing drinks with healthy snacks. Once when I went off alcohol for three months I found myself making chocolate pudding with graham crackers and whipped cream or homemade peanut cutter cups as a replacements every evening. Sugar is definitely my comfort default when I don't drink. This time around I have a serving of 70 calorie AF brew, orange juice, 90% dark chocolate, Kalamata olives, or pickles. One of those usually des the trick!7 -
Hello! 19 days AF, right now I’m not saying I’m never going to drink again, but right now it’s strictly for my weight loss journey. I’ve been hovering around the same 10-15 lbs for years and I’m tired of it, so I “blame it on the alcohol” lol, although before I have gotten close to my goal weight having it within my calorie goals. But I didn’t look how I wanted, I still had the “pooch” and I wanna get rid of that. So hopefully this helps.7

Hi @MissMay -
My January 2022 was going pretty good until I had a week long bout of sciatic nerve problems. I drank every night and even though I was not slurring my words, or stumbling around, it was still a lot of alcohol, just to to “cope”. Finally, last Sunday, DH caught me making another drink and asked me what I was thinking. I told him to pour it out, and that was the last day I had alcohol. He does not know how much I was drinking and I feel really bad for hiding it from him, but I knew my physical and mental health could not take it much longer and it was not good for our marriage. DH has maybe 2 beers a month and is a lightweight. Anyway, I know I can’t just quit, if I tell myself I can’t ever have another drink, I won’t be able to do it. But for now, I want to take a break, do a reset, and come back to one drink only at social occasions, none by myself, and if I can’t do that, I need to stop drinking altogether. I realize it is a daily deal I have to make with myself. And that is it. I really appreciate you keeping this thread going, I don’t feel so all alone. If I told my husband my plan, he would not believe me; his way of supporting me, is hounding me, which makes me want to drink more. Lame.
Karen

My usual goal, 16-20 AF days per month.
My schedule pretty much dictates my AF days.
I will be AF on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for the next few months.
Diary style is how I keep track
Saturday Jan 15th - 2 drinks. Time to rack up some more AF days.
Sunday Jan 16th - AF - Too achy and sore to even skate after my Booster.
Monday Jan 17th - AF - Skated in the morning, very busy day at the restaurant and a busy week with my other job, Foster Grant. Best to be AF
Tuesday Jan 18th - AF - No planned drinks until the weekend this week.
Wednesday Jan 19th - 2 drinks. Not planned, but I enjoyed them after crawling home from a very long day.

Jan 1- 7: 6 AF / 1 A

Jan 15 - 17... so far 5 AF / 0 A
Yesterday I "thought" about have a nip of my DH stash, which is mostly all Whiskey based... and I HATE the taste of Whiskey! It was just a long, stressful day, and wanted something to calm down my brain. I resisted, and made a nice cup of chamomile tea with some spenda, it did the trick... almost. After a quick dinner, I treated myself a cup of Hot Cocoa with mini marshmallows on top... I felt totally satisfied with my choices... and woke up feeling refreshed this morning.
So happy that I haven't re-stocked my go-to.
