Love, Not Shame

Hello my new friends! I’ve spent my life in the “dieting“ world. I began dieting when I was at a very good weight because I didn’t like who I was and it was easier to focus on my body than it was on my mind and heart. I ended up dieting my way UP more than 100 pounds as I played the yo-yo dieting game.
Through the years, I finally did the work I needed to heal emotionally and have stopped hating my body and learned to love and value myself…at EVERY weight. I’m back to my fitness pal, this time fueled by self love not by shame and self-hate. I have learned, you cannot hate yourself thin.
I recently found out I have pre-diabetes and it’s time to take care of my body as a whole, not just to see a certain number on the scale, or to earn the respect of the world, but to live a long and happy life with my children and grandchildren, to love and care for this only body that I’ll be given and to have quality of life as long as I can stick around.
I would love to meet more people who have learned to love themselves on this journey, not because they finally weigh a certain amount, but because they recognize that their worth was just as valuable all along. I’m also happy to encourage those was striving to let that truth sink into their own minds.
