    I am Dawn
    5'2", 61 and 5/6th : - )
I have been on MFP since October 2018.
I am close to 10 pounds heavier than this time last year.
Hoping to drop weight this month, but have extended company coming, an old friend who is a chef and cooks amazing meals. So much for my grilled chicken with veggies or salad. I will do my best.
    I gained 0.6 last month

Monday August 01 - 139.2 - Using last month's EW. A holiday in my Province today, but not a food holiday. I am working.
Tuesday August 02 - 138.6 - Hoping to continue to see drops before my company arrives on Saturday so that I have a "cushion". Feeling pretty lean this morning.
Wednesday August 03 - 139.0 - I had planned a cleanse for later in August, but Wild Rose has been discontinued. It is a bunch of herbs and a food plan. I do know the food columns of what to have 80% of each day etc. The herbs are organ specific. I will be looking into what else is available. Does anyone have a good kit that they use?
Thursday August 04 - 138.8 - Going to keep it very light for the next couple of days before my company arrives. He is a chef and I expect to be eating more (and richer) food than usual starting Saturday for 8 days
Friday August 05 - 139.9 - Quite surprised at this jump up, I had a very good day exercise and food wise. Going to try to take it in stride, actually feeling lean this morning.
Saturday August 06 - 138.1 - That was the last of being "good" for the next 8 days. I am going to try not to be rude and sit at the kitchen table at my laptop reading and writing into these forums while I have company (in a couple more hours from now). I will be logging and weighing, just not sure if I will make it on here or not.
    Sunday August 07 - 136.2
    Monday August 08 - 138.3 - eating amazing meals
Tuesday August 09 - 138.8 - Surprised (but glad) that it wasn't more, especially since I was up and weighing at 5am. Getting stuff done before my company wakes up : - )
Wednesday August 10 - 139.8 - Really not too bad considering the rich food that I have been eating
    Thursday August 11 -
    Friday August 12 - 139.8
Saturday August 13 - 139.8 - Wow, usually my weight fluctuates like crazy, but staying at the same number is cool, especially after eating so very well all week with my Chef friend here whipping up all sorts of rich foods accompanied by wine.
Sunday August 14 - 141.3 - Well, it caught up with me. Lots of good leftovers over the next few days, I will try to keep the quantities low. - I see that I had my dates mixed up. Fixed them
Monday August 15 - 140.1 - I still have some really good food left, but will keep the portions smaller, and no wine or cocktails.
Tuesday August 16 - 139.4 - Still working on leftovers, tonight should be the last. I am going to have pesto that was made out of things in my garden with some Konjac pasta (10 calories for the whole pack), a bit of chicken mixed in and a salad. It would be nice to see that 136.2 from Aug 07th again soon.
Wednesday August 17 - 139.1 - It seems to be coming down. I am working at it.
Thursday August 18 - 137.7 - That was very nice to see this morning.
Friday August 19 - 137.8 - Felt quite lean this morning. Working a split shift today and expect to eat more calories than I have been this entire week.
Saturday August 20 - 138.8 - Up a pound. I worked late, so ate late. Burned a whole lot of calories running around work.
Sunday August 21 - 138.7 - Had hoped for a bigger drop than that, but it is what it is: Very easy and quick to put it on, but very hard and slow to take it off
Monday August 22 - 139.1 - MFP again saying that I should be 119 by eating like I do. Just 20 pounds off of the 2 year predictions. Quite surprised to see a gain today, maybe I overheated and body is holding on to water
Tuesday August 23 - 138.1 - Hmm. Okay. Still trying to learn to deal with the fluctuations, I do think that I am taking it better than I used to, but again, I would rather be fluctuating around in the 120s. Keeping at it, maybe some day.

    Month start: 139.2

    August goal: maintenance of 128-132

My goal this month is to maintain weight as well as increase activity. I will be moving at some point this month so I will be doing a lot of packing. Have been waiting for a definite start date on a new job, but they are still going through the process of doing background checks and such. I currently work for the State and have been accepted for another position with the State. Unfortunately, they won't just open my personnel file and retrieve the information they already have, they are doing it all over again from scratch. It has been over a month since they began. It's very frustrating. Anyway, somehow I am hoping to find time to increase workouts/walks while packing and preparing for a wedding.

08/23-201.0-(Trend Weight 200.2)- I forgot to take my meds yesterday in all the reno hupla, so it was too late for the heart-healthy water pill. My feet are pretty bloated and it showed up on the scale. Today I’ll take my pill for sure and that may give me a more accurate picture of my true weight. Tomorrow I travel to the cardiologist so lunch or dinner will be out but I will really weigh my options! One of my handymen was put in the hospital with either appendix or intestine infection issues. They are still doing testing. I’m down to one guy and he is the lazier one. But he’s here today putting his 60 to 90 minutes in so I suppose I am supposed to be grateful. No quality sleep last night, so I’m a bit grumpy as you can see but I do speak truth.

08/24-200.6-(Trend Weight 200.3)- I forgot to pull the water pill from the day before’s cubby (because I forgot to take it the day before) so now I am several days without it. Can’t take it today because I am traveling to cardiologist. My weight is up (probably related) from starting point by 0.4 and that is a disappointment. I’ll take it for sure tomorrow and I will watch my dinner out today! I hate when I can’t get my steps in when that is just about the only exercise I am approved for right now!

Quite surprised to see a gain today, maybe I overheated and body is holding on to water. Ate 1043 only in calories yesterday.
Tuesday August 23 - 138.1 - Hmm. Okay. Still trying to learn to deal with the fluctuations, I do think that I am taking it better than I used to, but again, I would rather be fluctuating around in the 120s. Keeping at it, maybe some day.
Wednesday August 24 - 138.8 - It seems that if I am anywhere over 1100 calories for the day that I see a gain. That is not sustainable long term.
Thursday August 25 - 138.3 - Jumping around in weight as usual. Eating has changed up since my tomatoes are becoming ripe, tomato sandwich every day now : - )

    Month start: 139.2

08/24-200.6-(Trend Weight 200.3)- I forgot to pull the water pill from the day before’s cubby (because I forgot to take it the day before) so now I am several days without it. Can’t take it today because I am traveling to cardiologist. My weight is up (probably related) from starting point by 0.4 and that is a disappointment. I’ll take it for sure tomorrow and I will watch my dinner out today! I hate when I can’t get my steps in when that is just about the only exercise I am approved for right now!

08/25-199.8-(Trend Weight 200.2)- Onederland! Trying to figure that one out. Travel yesterday with very very little movement. Restaurant meal. Normal (not enough) sleep. Normal TMI. No water pill yesterday due to the travel. However, I was up & down all night going #1. I guess my body deided to finally get rid of some fluid retention in my ankles on it’s own so that must be it. So…cardiologist said absolutely no exercise including taking walks! I honestly thought I was approved to at least do that! I am supposed to be re-introduced into everything while being medically supervised (in case of another heart attack). They are especially worried because I still cannot breathe well with exertion. So I must attend cardiac rehab for probably 12 weeks. Of course, that will mean a lot of travel since we don’t have anything like that around here. I’m very disappointed. They are sending me for dopplers on my legs to look for blockages due to some symptoms, my vascular issues, my lack of pulse in the left foot, and my high glucose diabetes. That will be mid September. They are also sending me to a pulmonary function test in mid-October to make sure there isn’t something different going on with the breathing. My lung nodule appears to be stable so maybe COPD? I did smoke for 35 years but I quit 15 years ago! Anyway, sharing what I got in the case that it helps someone go get that medical care you need. Difficulty breathing which is different from before when you exercise? Call your doctor!

@deepwoodslady - I am so sorry to hear about your breathing issues, Donna. Did they take some blood work to ensure that your breathing isn't related to something like anemia post surgery? I was anemic during pregnancy and I know that can make breathing normally difficult. Hugs to you!

Hi, all! I am a 2x cancer survivor dealing with Hypothyroidism, early Menopause, and Plantar Fasciitis, trying to lose weight to feel stronger, keep up with my kids, and hopefully be able to find clothes that work with my body's shape post-mastectomy and four pregnancies/three c-sections.

    Height: 5'4"
    Age: 45
    January Starting Weight: 194.7
    February Starting Weight: 196.1
    March Starting Weight: 189.8
    April Starting Weight: 187.0
    May Starting Weight: 185.8
    June Starting Weight:
    July Starting Weight: 190.7
    August Starting Weight: 190.1

Goals: Plan and Log all food, Quit sugary drinks, Manage midnight eating, increase gym time, stretch.

    08/01: 190.1 - Mindful midnight eating.
08/02: 188.7 - Went swimming. Limited my iced tea/lemonade consumption to 1 glass at work.
08/03: 190.1 - Later dinner with family, heavy carbs in that meal, stress ate before bed. Sigh.
    08/04: 188.6 - Stayed within my calories.
08/05: 190.0 - My "guesstimate" calories were waaaaaay off.
    08/06: 190.5 - Still combating late night hunger/cravings.
08/07: 190.5 - Zumba day. It was a lot of fun, but my left hip isn't having fun today. Lol!
08/08: 190.7 - Had a sugary drink at work again but only ate roasted veggies when I came home late.
    08/09: 189.8 - Working hard at work.
08/10: 189.6 - Did not overindulge at dinner.
08/11: 188.6 - Day off and did well staying in calorie range.
08/12: 191.3 - This was a doctor's office morning weight. is my scale a few pounds off???
08/13: 190.5 - I woke up to this number, so maybe it is my weight that is up and not the scale.
    08/14: 190.6
    08/15: 190.7
08/16: 190.5 - Work exercise is not enough to make up for the calories I am eating.
    08/17: 190.3
    08/18: 190.3
08/19: 189.9 - Cut back on my calories at dinner.
08/20: DNW - Worked 14 hours and I was tired.
08/21: DNW - My 9 y/o daughter woke me up crying that she did not feel well. I sensed it was Covid and sure enough, the home test confirmed that after two and a half years, Covid finally caught up to us. Broke her heart and mine that she is sick and that she will be missing her whole first week of school. I fell back onto my coping habit of overeating to deal with my feelings. I am ashamed that I am not stronger when it comes to this issue.
08/22: DNW - too much going on with the start of school and taking care of my daughter and disinfecting the house.
    08/23: 191.2 - I know I am off track.
08/24: 191.4 - I knew the first week of school would be a whirlwind, with one staring middle school and my youngest starting kindergarten, but with all the added strain of keeping Covid contained and worrying about my daughter, I feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz when her and her house was pulled up and spinning around inside a tornado.
    08/25: 191.2
08/26: 190.5 - My daughter is on the mend. It's going to be a long 10 days at work before the amusement park I work at closes for the summer season.

@dawnbgethealthy - Hey, Lady! I thought it was only me that had to eat under 1100 calories to see a change. As you can tell by my stagnant numbers, I haven't psyched myself up to go that low again. I know hormones could be at play here, but I have always read that muscle burns more calories, so I was wondering if losing bone or muscle strength is also contributing to how many calories I can eat to lose weight.

    Good question.
You would think that if we lose bone and muscle as we age that we would lose weight?
For sure I lost weight once my hormones stabilized after menopause - but not without a great deal of work.
All we can do is curse out our naturally thin friends and keep trying.
I lost weight once before and then stopped tracking. That was a 50 pound disaster, and I learned my lesson. For me, personally, I will track the rest of my life. It is so very easy with a vehicle like MFP, it takes no time once what we normally eat is just there to be clicked on.
The goal here for me is to get as close as possible to a healthy body weight so that I can be active and healthy into my golden years.
I have a phobia of the medical system and hospitals, and will try hard to never have to enter that in any sort of capacity.

Oh Donna, this is not a good wrinkle!

Travel for 12 weeks seems counterproductive! That can't be good for your health.
Will you just rent a place near there (for you and your son) for the 3 months of treatment?
I feel like doctors just don't take into account the stress on the body of having to travel when they decide these things. Of course you must follow through with it all to get to the bottom of this, get some answers, and get better.
The heart muscle needs exercise to function, but not when all of this is going on. Please try to take it easy.

Friday August 26 - 139.3 - A whole pound up from yesterday? Geez. Working a split today, so dinner will be late. I will get extra workouts in during my break at home in the afternoon.

@BittersweetVita I've been having breathing problems during any exertion (including walking) for about 3 years. Family doctor did nothing. When I flunked an EKG 4 times last fall during pre-op testing it was finally addressed. That lead to the heart blockage find which they have stented but no breathing relief. I do have a nodule on my lung 2.4 cm but it is remaining stable. So now they suspect other problems like COPD so I will be tested. I do have Left bundle branch block in my heart but they don't feel it is related at this point. I am grateful that they are trying to get to the bottom of it.

@dawnbgethealthy No, I'll be staying home because I need my men to continue working on this house. Especially this close to all the family holidays (Thanksgiving & Christmas). I'm grandma so everything happens here, and I do have the largest home with extra bathrooms etc. Travel it will have to be which sux with the price of gas these days. Cardiologist said it is a possibility they could release me before 12 weeks if I am tolerating it well (which is great because of snowy, icy Michigan roads in Nov - April/May). It is just that the insurance usually approves up to 12 weeks, so let's hope...... I am going to try to stay positive. I have no idea if this will be once per week or more often. My positive thought is this: Maybe I will learn how to eat at restaurants without going overboard. It certainly will give me plenty of practice! And it is bound to be near stores somewhere so I can get my Christmas shopping done much easier! Keeping the faith.....

08/26-200.6-(Trend Weight 200.3)- Easy go, easy come. One thing is for sure. NO MORE ICE CREAM IN THE HOUSE!!! Sorry grandson but I am not strong enough for that yet and NO PART OF ME OR MY HEALTH needs it. Mommy will just have to take you for a cone.

This is like a week before your daughter's wedding. Argh

    Oh, I see.
I thought that it was every day for 12 weeks.
I don't think that you let the workmen come when you are not at home, so I figured that they wouldn't be working while you were away.
Does it start next week? How long is the drive?

Eating has changed up since my tomatoes are becoming ripe, tomato sandwich every day now : - )
Friday August 26 - 139.3 - A whole pound up from yesterday? Geez. Working a split today, so dinner will be late. I will get extra workouts in during my break at home in the afternoon.
Saturday August 27 - 139.6 - I felt quite lean all day yesterday and burned a boat load of calories. Late night eating and choices outside of my norm...I did expect a gain this morning and got it. I have so much yardwork to do including cutting the grass, but it rained overnight and is due to rain a few more times today with possible thunderstorms, so I suppose I will have to bite the bullet and get some things done inside of my house. I will find any excuse to do things outside instead, no matter the season.

    Month start: 139.2
    Month end:

@dawnbgethealthy I am waiting for the PT to call. I am not sure of location yet or when I start. I am hoping it is near the nearest hospital which would be about 60 miles away each way. If it is near where I had the surgery then it is 2 1/2 hours each way. No, I don't allow the workmen in when I am not home. I really don't know this set very well. They are not a professional insured company or anything so they do not work while I am away at my request. I won't be seeing much done this week as we lead up to the wedding next Saturday. So many dr. and wedding appointments. The guys were warned to work in-between but they showed up yesterday, carried in some of the cabinets and stacked them up in the D.R., put some drawers in the lowers (no hardware yet) and left after 90 minutes. They spent as much time out trying to feed my squirrels as they did work. Some days I just want to pull my hair out but eventually it will get done. I'm trying to learn to stay calm. My work ethic is so different, I just don't understand it!

08/27-199.2-(Trend Weight 200.2)- Progress! I won’t say I made the best choices but I stayed within calorie. I went into goals this morning and tweaked my macros. I lowered the carbs because my glucose continues to run too high. It may take a few tweaks to get it in better balance. I am going to focus on healthier fats in my diet when I need to use them. I have to really watch fats because of my heart problems right now. I know which ones are good for me and they need to be my first choice.
